    Brief Overview of BNVS

What We Are: established in 2005, the BN Vocational School (BNVS) is China's first tuition-free, non-

profit charitable vocational school at the senior secondary level. It is also a Project Hope school

supported under the China Youth Development Foundation and the Project Hope Vocational Education

    Fund.

BNVS Mission: to provide employment-targeted vocational training with courses based on and in

response to market demand. BNVS invites businesses to participate, and where appropriate to lead in

    the learning and teaching process.

Education Content:A BNVS education is more than just acquiring technical skills. Students also learn

life and social skills and ethics to help them succeed and fully integrate into society.

BNVS Campuses: Beijing, Chengdu, Dalian, Nanjing, Sanya, Wuhan, Yinchuan, Zhengzhou and

    Lijiang. In 2014, with the support of Citic Construction Co., BNVSsmodel is being replicated in Angola;

helping Angolan underprivileged youth change their fate.

Education & Employment Success: as of September, 2013, 3,368 under-privileged youth have

received tuition-free vocational education through BNVS; its 1,451 graduates have all successfully

obtained employment. This has dramatically improved the financial status and living conditions of their

    entire families.

Background -- who is left behind

    Beijing, China: ten years ago

In 2005, there were 140 million rural migrant workers in China; 70% ofthem were between 15-30 years old; 25-33% were informally employed

due to economic difficulties precluding their continued education.

National Bureau of Statistics of China

The proportion of vocational students has been decreasing every

year. In 2003, only 38.75% were in vocational education -- even lower

than in 1990. Inadequate investment in vocational education causes

failures in quality standards and social demand.

Research group of Chinas educational policies

In 2005, total philanthropic donations in China were only 6.1 billion

RMB; they grew to 84.5 billion in 2011. The importance of supporting

charity work was written in the governments report for the first time

that year. China Philanthropy Research Institute

In 2005, Beijing had 2.87 million migrant workers, 70% of them living

in poverty due to a lack of education and access to only low-skilled /

menial jobs. However, between 2006-2010, Beijing needed 2.48 million

technical workers, far exceeding the available number of 1.47 million.

First applicant: Wang Lin, Hebei. When his mother was diagnosed with

cancer, and at the same time his brother was entering college, Wang Lin

dropped out of school and went to work in Beijing. His mother first heard about

BNVS over a radio broadcast. After a night without sleep, she called asking if

theschool was for real. Today, Wang Lin has a stable job as a supervisor

and has bought his own apartment. Hes one of the most typical BNVS

    students.

Last one in registration: Mou Lihua. A left-behind child, Mou Lihua went

from school to school, with her dream of getting an education the only thing

that kept her trying. She heard about BNVS at the last minute. Shesnow an

excellent employee in her job and a happy mom-to-be in her family. Her father

often told the school how much burden BNVS had reduced for his family.

    Replicating the BNVS Model

The BNVS model has been replicated in

Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Wuhan, Sanya,Zhengzhou, Dalian, Yinchuan, and Lijiang, helping

nearly 900 under-privileged youth every year.

Replicating BNVS is not the ultimate solution.

Rather BNVS is simply a demonstration of one

successful approach to solving the education and

    employment challenges forChinasunder-privileged

    youth.

In 2014, the BNVS model is being replicated

overseas, as an innovative way for Chinese

overseas companies to give back to the overseas

local communities where they have operations

    and/or investments.

BNVS Angola: the first replication overseas

In 2014, BNVS exported its vocational education model to

Luanda, Angola by supporting the establishment of the BN-

Angola CITIC Vocational School in that nationscapital city. The school has three major vocational courses: masonry,

construction & electrical maintenance, and vehicle operation.

In addition to replicating BNVS core value and education

model, BN-Angola CITIC is completely localized in terms of

    institutional management and teaching activities.

The school aims to contribute to Angola's post-war economic

development by creating a mature and practical vocational

    education model.

In April 2014, the first 70 students were enrolled and started
