The key to our success is our approach. Your personal account
manager will start with the enquiry and manage the entire process
through to the end, providing you with a single point of contact, along
with progress reports, to ensure that you have all of the information
which you require. Our experienced team is available 24/7, with
members undertaking six months’ intensive training, before they can
manage an account. Our trainees are also required to ‘rep’ charter
flights, watching ground movements and cargo being loaded.

“Our organization was hugely impressed with the professional and get-it-done attitude
of your team; as you can see, they went way beyond the call of duty in this operation.
We did not expect you to get involved in such a way, but, on reflection, without your
assistance, the operation would have been a much tougher assignment.”

Requirements:
CARGO: Control unit
WEIGHT: 80,640 pounds
AIRCRAFT: IIyushin-76
ROUTE: Vatry International, France – Port Harcourt, Nigeria
An experienced logistics organization urgently required an aircraft to
transport an extremely awkward load. The cargo could not be dismantled,
so transporting the item in one piece was the biggest hurdle.
Solution: TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
It was by applying many years’ experience and discussions with various
operators that ACS was able to determine whether this was, in fact,
loadable at all. ACS ensured that the operation would be successful by
making sure that loadmasters went to the site, measuring and checking
everything, before a contract was agreed on. The cargo fitted, with only
millimetres to spare, and arrived safely in Port Harcourt.

Requirements:
CARGO: Oil refinery components
AIRCRAFT: Embraer 110
ROUTE: Cape Town, SA – Pemba, Mozambique – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
To provide a charter for two different pieces of dangerous cargo: class 1
explosives and class 7 radioactive materials.
Solution: INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE
ACS located an Embraer 110 aircraft, available for immediate charter.
Owing to the size of the oil refinery components, the cargo was able to
fit easily in one aircraft, provided that it was properly segregated in flight.
Once confirmation had been received, the aircraft was positioned for
loading first thing the next morning. An all-night shift ensured that the
flight and landing permissions were organized for the transportation of
dangerous goods.

all our suppliers and ACS provides that for us. We would not hesitate in recommending
them as trustworthy and reliable suppliers who offer a value added service.”

Requirements:
CARGO: Automotive spare parts
AIRCRAFT: 2x Learjet 35
ROUTE: Zurich, Switzerland – Gander, Canada – Chicago, USA
Subsequent to the reopening of European airspace, following the air
travel restrictions caused by the volcanic ash cloud in 2010, ACS received
an urgent request to charter a small amount of automotive spares for a
production line.
Solution: RAPID RESPONSE
In order to respond to the urgent request, the original built-up wooden pallets
were separated, enabling them to be loaded onto smaller jets. The cargo was then
flown to the USA, via Canada, where it was transhipped to its final destination.
By mobilizing two separate, smaller aircraft and transhipping the cargo between
them in Canada, ACS was able to save time by avoiding lengthy delays caused by
traffic rights applications and positioning flights. In offering a Canadian-accredited
aircraft, ACS was also able to obtain Canadian permits much faster than flying the
cargo directly from Europe to the USA, saving the client vital time.

Requirements:
CARGO: Construction equipment
AIRCRAFT: Ilyushin-76
ROUTE: Fujairah International Airport, UAE – Camp Bastian Airport,
Afghanistan
Owing to the impending danger of travelling along the roads connecting
Kandahar and Camp Bastian, ACS had been asked to conduct many
charters into the region – up to 30 per month, at times.
Solution: GLOBAL COVERAGE AND LOCALIZED KNOWLEDGE
One programme, in particular, ran for eight months, whereby ACS
organized a series of 65 charters, carrying essential construction
equipment.
Local knowledge of the region ensured that this project ran smoothly,
selecting the most effective aircraft for the mission. The ability to land
on shorter runways, take off on a higher gradient and perform spiral
landings (a technique commonly used when flying in war zones) made
it the right selection.
25
“ACS has supplied chartered aircraft to us in support of transporting cargo to hostile locations. We have found
them to provide a reliable and cost-effective service and would describe them as a dependable supplier.”

“The industry’s role in the aid & recovery operation further underlines its importance in the world as by far the quickest
means of bringing survivors home and transporting vital equipment and expertise to the disaster scene. I am grateful
for your swift response and would like to send my sincere thanks to all of those involved in the relief effort.”

Requirements:
CARGO: 11,200,000 pounds of emergency aid and equipment
PASSENGERS: 400
CHARTERS: 100+
AIRCRAFT: 20 aircraft types
In January 2010, an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit
Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, killing and injuring tens of thousands of
people, devastating the capital and surrounding areas.
Solution: RAPID RESPONSE
Owing to the weather conditions in the UK, flights were restricted;
however, with the aid of Gatwick Airport, the runway was cleared of
snow, enabling the first plane for Haiti, carrying the search & rescue team,
to depart ahead of commercial traffic. In the months which followed,
ACS chartered more than 100 aircraft and carried 11,200,000 pounds of
emergency aid into the region.

Requirements:
CARGO: Aircraft engine
WEIGHT: 33,600 pounds
AIRCRAFT: Antonov AN-124
ROUTE: Stansted, London – Boston, USA
ACS received the request from a major British airline which had an AOG in
Boston urgently requiring a new engine.
Solution: AIRCRAFT AND GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE
The engine manufacturer was based in the UK, so the only choice was to
charter an aircraft to fly the engine from the UK to the United States.
Owing to the part being over 13 feet in height, the selected aircraft
was an Antonov AN-124. The engine promptly arrived at the airport, where
ACS was on hand to help to co-ordinate loading the engine onto the aircraft.
The charter was a success, and the airline was able to regain its schedule
and keep its fleet flying.
