About
“The state of Washington’s Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) program is nationally recognized as an evidence-based instructional model that supports career pathways. In an I-BEST program, two instructors are paired in the classroom- one to teach professional/technical or academic content; the other to teach basic skills in reading, math, writing or English language- so students can move through school and into jobs faster.”
https://lincs.ed.gov/professional-development/resource-collections/profile-584
Purpose:
Assist Amarillo College with student completion of academic coursework by providing adult basic education (ABE) supports to students through a mixture of four different levels of integrated instruction models. While also providing advising and scholarship opportunities to fund student certifications, tuition, books, tools, and other resources needed to succeed during their academic or CE program ($300-$600).
This model assists the college with increased enrollments, retention and completion efforts that focus on getting students in a middle-skilled job with the potential to earn a sustaining -wage.
