A Life Through Letters…
John left Abigail to raise the family and manage the farm alone, over 2,000 letters sustained their relationship.

Abigail opposed slavery.

managed a farm to her name, even if women were not allowed to do so.

first First Lady to
occupy the White

She was
also the
first
woman to
be wife of
a president
and
mother of
another.
