The University of Jordan Faculty of Engineering & Technology Mechanical Engineering Department 2005 Course Catalog During the design process an engineer or designer records ideas by means of sketches and design drawings of prototypes and their development . Once satisfied as to the degree of accuracy of the work, the engineer hands over these sketches to the drafter who takes off the details and makes working drawings of the whole unit . A set of working drawings for a machine would include detail drawings of the various parts and an assembly drawing showing how these parts are assembled together to make up the complete machine . This course aims at developing the skills needed for documenting designs using drawings and for performing graphical analysis of two dimensional and three dimensional problems. Manual and computer aided methods of graphical analysis and communication are covered. 2005 Course CatalogDuring the design process an engineer or designer records ideas by means of sketches and design drawings of prototypes and their development.

Once satisfied as to the degree of accuracy of the work, the engineer hands over these sketches to the drafter who takes off the details and makes working drawings of the whole unit.

Measurable Program Outcomes (MPO) and Course OutcomesMPO Course Outcomes

MPO# 9-2Drafting skills for creating and interpreting manufacturing and assembly drawings, including the use of CAD tools to create 2D-3D drawings and parts lists and its Assembly.

1. Appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline.

2. An ability to apply creativity in the design of systems, components, or appropriate to program objectives.

3. Develop an understanding of the design process and the fundamental methods necessary to do creative problem solving.

4. Develop and ability to communicate graphically using various engineering tools including a modern computer graphics package.

5. Develop an ability to organize a team design project and to present the results of a design solution.
