If you need a simple way to incorporatehard copy work into your digital workflowwith the least amount of effort, cost andtime, ScanMaster System is the solution.

ScanMaster does not merely copy the entirepage then send it to a plate. Rather, it letsthe user scan-in color and black and whiteoriginals—even pre-screened originals—which may include text, line art, halftones,photographs, text on a tinted areas, blocksof color, reverses, etc.

It then allows compilation and fine tuningof the various page elements individually tocreate the final digital document for plating.All this is done through an easy-to-use graphicinterface so there’s no need to switch betweentext, scanning and layout programs.

POLYESTER PLATES HAVE COME OF AGE

With the advent of digital platesetters,polyester plates have become widely acceptedthroughout the industry for all types of work,including high quality process-color printing.

Plates are conveniently processed on-line inthe DPM’s completely integrated processor.The processor’s shallow path virtuallyeliminates material jams and scratching.

Polyester digital plates have a highresolution emulsion capable of producinghigh contrast, sharp images; and they canbe run on virtually all offset presses.

By exhibiting excellent water receptivity,they are compatible with a wide variety ofdampening systems and inks includingoil, rubber and soy base, as well as acrylic,magnetic and web press inks.

DPM users have a choice of two premiumplate and chemistry systems: MEGAPRO or

MEGAPrint. Each includes its own plates,activator, stabilizer and fountain solutionswhich are designed to be used together asa system to produce optimum results.

Polyester plate material is available in twogrades. Both MEGAPRO and MEGAPrint5 mil and 8 mil plates provide run lengthsup to 20,000 impressions. Also availableis a lower cost 7 mil paper-based material(MEGAPRO only) for runs up to 10,000.This choice lets users select the mostsuitable material for individual pressesand print applications.

The DPM34 HSC offers the option ofoutputting imagesetting film. This addedflexibility allows you to create film formetal plate production for longer printruns or special customer requests. Film,once imaged, is sent to a take-up cassettefor off-line processing.

THE PROPER TOOLS INCREASEPRODUCTIVITY

Jobs sent to the DPM are displayed inthe RIP queue. There, they can be re-prioritized and stored, if desired, for laterre-imaging—saving a trip back to thedesktop for reprints.

To ensure perfectly imaged and positionedplates, the RIP includes a unique softwarefeature for plate size and gripper marginsetups. Output can be fine tuned to suitthe individual characteristics of each pressin the shop—dot gain and screening, forexample.

Presstek offers a number of optionalworkflow solutions. Choose the right toolsfor your production requirements—andbudget. Productivity enhancing in-RIPoptions include color proofing softwareand a fully automatic trapping solution.

The optional ScanMaster system allowsthe merging of hard copy originals intoan all-digital workflow.
