The creation of visual art enables both ‘high fliers’ and academically
challenged pupils to work on a level footing.
Creativity encourages everyone!
My aim for each art project is to:
• enable both individual and team working
• encourage pupils to– have a ‘can do’ attitude– learn new skills– learn a process rather than focus on the end result and the
production of ‘identikits’– think ‘outside of the box’
• emphasise the importance of each individual’s creations and those of others
• present pupils’ artwork in a way that has lasting value for the pupil and the school community

‘Rethinking the Work of a Famous Artist’
A project that deconstructs an abstract painting by Pablo Picasso to create,
through a number of art processes, an entirely original painting by the pupil…
• cutting up a copy of the painting• creating a sculpture with the pieces of
painting• photographing the sculpture• drawing the photograph• painting the drawing
The Results:
‘Clitheroe – A Special Place’
A painting by 60 pupils from KS 1 & KS2
Pendle Primary School
Pupils chose an image to represent Clitheroe:the castle, the library, Edisford Bridge…
which were then painted on individual pieces of canvas.
Each pupils’ painting was then appliqued onto a large canvas panel.
