What is a hero?

When you think of a hero, you probably think of a super hero however, that is not a hero. A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. A hero may do something like calling the police when a child is being kidnapped or something as little as helping an old women with her groceries cross the street. Overall, a hero is an outstanding citizen and leader to everyone around them.

About My HeroMy hero is Anne Frank. She has curly brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Anne Frank is from Frankfurt Germany, a small friendly town. Unfortunately, Anne was born during the holocaust as a Jew, so life was especially hard for her. Due to being a Jew, Anne had to go into hiding or the German’s military group would send her and her family to a concentration camp where you’d be killed.

MotivationAnne Frank wants to be free more than anything in the world. She wants to be free because when you are free you have choices, privileges, and freedom of rights. You are able to say and do as you please. Anne Frank also dreams of being a writer. Anne loves to write. She writes down all her thoughts and feelings in a daily journal. Anne believes without writing, she’d suffocate.

TrialsAnne Frank faced many trials in her life. One trial she faced was the Germans, who disliked them because they disapproved of their beliefs. Because of this, Anne faced another trial. This trial would be being quiet so the Germans would not find and kill them. Anne did her best to stay quiet and stay out of the Germans way. These trials helped Anne Frank become stronger as a person.

Help!During the holocaust, Anne and her family were found due to an anonymous Dutch caller, who made noises near their hiding place. They were transported to a concentration camp, a place where Germans kill the Jews. There, Anne would’ve starved to death if it hadn’t been for the help of her friend. This friend threw food in a blanket over a barbed wire fence that separated the two. Her friend also gave her blankets for warmth on cold nights.

The Heroism in Anne Frank

Anne Frank is a hero in many ways. One of the ways Anne functions as a hero is that her journal entries help us in our struggle to understand how to deal with the violence and cruelty we find in our world today. Anne also has qualities of great hope and spirit in the face of danger and cruelty.

Some examples of what Anne Frank did are when Anne wrote an incredibly descriptive journal which tells about Anne’s terrifying life in hiding. Anne is famous for this journal and her story continues to spread throughout the world. Another example of what Anne did was she went to school in the Netherlands. Anne loved school and learning about new things. Anne made lots of friends at her school and Anne always had a good time. Anne didn’t stay there long though. She went into hiding a few years after she had started school, and had to leave all her friends and her favorite place, the Netherlands.

Hero’s QualitiesAnne is brave just like Jason in “The Lost Hero”. Anne is brave when she goes to the concentration camps, and knows she will die. Still, Anne goes forward. In comparison, Jason is brave when he fought the most powerful giant in the world, Enceladus, by himself.

Anne is kind just like Jason in “The Lost Hero”. Anne is kind because she loves to help others and always looks on the bright side of things. Jason is kind because he tries to help his friends when they have problems. An example is when Jason helped Piper rescue her dad from Enceladus’s grasp.

Anne is smart like Jason in “The Lost Hero”. Anne enjoys school and loves to write and learn. Anne absorbs new things like a sponge. Jason is also smart. Some things he knows are about myths, legends, and a new language, latin.
