Since 2007, every 22th of April (Earth Day), Abana Magazine unites its voice to all organizers around the world for a internationale celebration of the planet by staging events and projects that encourage citizens to address local environmental issues. This year 2012, Abana Magazine presents a special issue dedicated to our Reggae edutainment programs online. We called this Reggae Music programs involved for a better living together down to earth 'REGGAE EARTH UNITED'. This concept includes a website with daily Reggae News plus a competition 'REGGAE EARTH UNITED CONTEST'. The purpose of the concept is to communicate to the public a musical consciousness dedicated to Mama Earth. Most of the artists presented on these programs contribute with their songs to the upliftment of an environmental conciousness. Abana Magazine is the antenna that promote this global awareness among Reggae / Dancehall riddim producers, artists, reggae medias, bookers, promoters and of course all the reggae lovers... This special issue is a great occasion to present some musical news of those artistes, and spotlight our main nature guardians. They are the best ambassadors of the Rastafarian traditional culture coming from Jamaica : a culture and a lifestyle 'levity' developped in harmony with Nature since more than two generations in Jamaica... With a united voice we can make it loud !!

5 QUESTIONS TOTEFLON IVABURNIN

What are your musical projects for 2012 ?My main musical projects this year are a underground hip hop flavour album being done for Black Ice Records in Canada, some reggae dancehall productions with my own label Yardalove Records and my management company Digitalvibez Muzik… and really doing some work with some good producers both veterans and new comer.

What about this new song entitled ‘Jah Is All I Need’ (Africana Riddim) ?Well yes this is my first release off my own label this year… The project is done by myself and Fire Treez who is one of my engineers. It’s a meditation type beat… it’s a riddim that relaxes the mind and allows you to think clean and pure thoughts hence the songs on it and the artiste on it is Capleton a friend father and mentor for my own parish also new comers out of the yard alove camp jah balance just to name a few and yes the label is own by me, was started in 1997 and is situated in st Mary where I’m from and build the studio.

What about your upcoming debut album ?Well the album ‘Misunderstood’ is really the brain child of my manager who knows that I’m an artiste that most of my fans/media people like the I them has misunderstood over the years and what better way to explain who I am, what I stand for and like, but through what I do and love music… so this album is really to explain and get my fans, friends and medias to overstand who Teflon is and what he stands for against beside and so on… and it will be 80% reggae and 20% real dancehall. We want to limit the amount of release tracks on the album 3 or 4 Max and we looking at a 17 tract album, so closer to release time there will be more info out on it like producers and so on, oh one thing for sure the title tract will be misunderstood and we haven’t set a release date yet

How do you define yourself ? well I define myself as a messenger someone of change someone to rejuvenate this music biz in terms of lyrics performance meditation not that those who set and pave the way before my isn’t good but I want to be one of the ones who set a new trend new vibe and in all way positive. Teflon iva burning mean teflon always burning fire always purifying bad burning out evil bad mind hypocrite wrong doers (teach each foreva love over the nation) teflon

The first question is about your new video entitled 'Miss Werl' What does it mean ? Give us more informations about this song ?Miss Werl is a song about being in a rocky relationship that’s not working out for various reasons. Mainly I want to live more naturally and the girl wants to live more materialistically. Even the though girl is beautiful we cannot connect on a spiritual

What’s your current and future projects ?Currently I am working on singles with different producers, recording combinations with other artists and also producing my own album 'Creation Music', all while travelling and performing.

As a member of the Marley familly... How would you qualify Bob Marley as a prophet, an national heroe, a saint or just with more personal words ?I view my cousin Bob Marley as a prophet, the one that points the way to His Majesty, Marcus Garvey and Reggae/Rasta Music. Cousin Bob spread the universal message of One Love and Rastafari to all the people of the world... If the world were to unite through Cousin Bob’s philosophies, then we could

Last words are yours : tell us something you want to say to medias, promoters or fans all over the globe…Rastafari is the almighty and look out for more positive music coming from the Rebel Camp. Give Thanks. One Love.

we think that you could be one of the ambassadors of this website dedicated to Mama Earth. We hope you accept this crown… If yes could you tell us : what is your main message concerning Life, Creation, Mama earth and Humanity ?

Give thanks for Life & thanks for the Livication to Nature, Edutainment & Global Consciousness…Well, yes, by virtue of being an artistic Child of The Most High, JAH Rastafari, I’m naturally and organically an Ambassador of Rastafari and as such, ini are devoted to the Journey & Works of Redemption of Mama Africa, Mother Earth & Humanity. Therefore, i accept and agree with the ambassadorial honour & responsibility bestowed upon Ini by these many people…Life is the most sacred & precious Gift of The AllMighty so ini have a sacred trust and duty to honour and preserve this sacred Life in all It’s manifestations. Therefore, Love & Inity are the accepted goals for itinual, immortal Life… Creation is the handy Works of the AllMighty and the dwelling place of the created beings and all creation so Life & Nature must harmonize to sustain, love and honour this creation as the Household of The AllMighty…

Mama Earth is our garden of creation, She is our Sacred Mother and Friend so we must honour & care for our Mother & Father even as Mother Earth & Our Father Time love and care for us all. Therefore, in protecting & honouring Mama Earth, even so are we honoured & protected by Mother Earth & Father Time…Humanity is our Family so just like the basic unit of every family is the individual & the basic social unit is the family, which comprises Father, Mother & Children, even so Humanity is a family which must subscribe to this very basic definition. Therefore, Ini say Rastafari, H.I.M Haile Selassie The First & Empress Menen are the Father & Mother of Humanity, hence we say One Earth, One Love, One Humanity.

Could you tell us about you and your music : How do you define yourself ? What are your current and future musical projects for 2012 ?

My music is a Poetic Trumpet of Vijaan & Redemption for Mama Africa & Humanity…I think this is the reason for which i was born, by definition and purpose I am a gift of vision, the audio-visual twin, with which the people can be helped to flourish & prosper in our victory of good over evil…Through the music ini can help to feed the people’s hearts, minds and souls…It is not by accident that my musical albums are titled; ‘Mental Assassin’, ‘Dance Hall Baptism’, ‘Honour – Crown HIM’, ‘Gift of Vision – Yasus Afari & Friends’, ‘Revolution Chapter 1′, ‘Kiss Mi Neck’ (Jamaican Spoken Word/ Performance Poetry). My 7th album is titled 'AncientFuture’ and is due out this month of April 2012. Therefore, I define and reflect my music just as my music defines and reflects me, so we are one…

Yasus Afari literally means The Creator’s Gift of Vision so that is my purpose and how I am defined…Currently i’m working on the release, launch and promotion of my 7th studio album produced by Senya-Cum Records, called 'AncientFuture', the single called 'HARD & TUFF' produced by Dub Syndicate and the single & video called 'Black Majik' produced by Nixti of Smudge Music. AncientFuture shall be released by the end of April and will be available on all major digital stores as well as physically by VP Records & Ernie B Reggae, among others.

Future musical projects are always in the works and includes my 8th album, a documentary, a Dub Poets album, videos, tours and performances… I also want to do an Audio book for my best selling book, 'Overstanding Rastafari – Jamaica’s Gift to the World'.... I’m also planning to stage and tour my Jamaican hit series called 'The POMEDY Show' as well as have the second staging of ‘Jamaica Poetry Festival’ at Louise Bennett Garden Theatre on August 12, 2012. Pomedy will be at STETHS & Utech on July 1 & September 14 respectively. There are many other projects in the making for 2012 & beyond.

Jamaica is celebrating during 2012 50th years of independence… What is your opinion about this part of history : what is the good and positive side of the island and the less positive side over there ?

Yes, Jamaica is celebrating 50 years of ‘in-dependence’ & 'AncientFuture' is a special Tribute & Salute to Jamaica at this point of our ‘history’.

This 'AncientFuture' album speaks to my view and perspective of these past 50 years and the next 50. My events : Poetry in Motion, The POMEDY Show & Jamaica Poetry Festival & The GRACE / Western Union UK POMEDY Autumn Tour are all designated Jamaica 50 Anniversary events.

My opinion of the aspect of our history is that Europe & America gang raped Mama Africa and this is an act of genocide.

Therefore, even as we celebrate this measured level of ‘independence’, we continue to resist neo-colonialism and advocate for reparations and repatriation as a duty to our Dignity, Integrity & Honour as well as to our ancestors and our children’s children. We must control our own destiny, write our own history, our own reality as we march forward triumphantly into the Ancient Future. The Good Side of Jamaica – We are a proud, strong, resilient, creative and loving people who have unprecedentedly impacted the global culture of this ‘civilization’ so we are the world’s cultural super power…We are still resisting internalized hatred and the trama of our genocide so we are still struggling for total ‘freedum’ and ‘inter-dependence’, for reparations, repatriation and self-determination but we are confident that good shall ultimately conquer evil and the truth shall set us free so ini itinually ascentuate the positive.

PAGE 16

Page 17: Abana Magazine - Special Issue Reggae Earth United 2012

Among all the national heroes of Jamaica we never hear a lot about Queen Nanny ? Could you tell us something about her ?

Well she is a African Warrior Kween and military strategist who took up arms and fiercely and successfully resisted and defeated the brutish British and their colonial designs and evils. She belonged to the ‘Maroons’ who were and still are marooned and deceived by the English/British, she used all her African powers to fight and resist so she is a sacred symbol of African Femnine Empowerment, resistance and Power.

Last words are yours : do you want to share a special message to your fans all around the globe ?

Give thanks for your sustained love & support and i shall justify your love and confidence with my sustained effort to empower our people with vision and the tools of knowledge, self-esteem, love, inity and confidence. Remember it’s One Earth, One Love, One Humanity so lets us all create the sacred formula of justice, peaceful co-existence & One Love.

Look out for the 'AncientFuture'... Thanks for your support... Honour, Love & Prosperity. Rastafari LivesYASUS AFARI -AncientFuture – Hard & Tuff – JAH RASTAFARI Bless it & Set it !!!!!!!

Glenford "Lee" Prospere, better known as MasSicker or "King Mas", is a songwriter / Producer from the new generation of Reggae / Dancehall music. MasSicker is one of the most prolific artists living out of Jamaica.

It's first with a love reggae song entitled ‘Ackee in my Saltfish’ (My Time Riddim) that MasSicker garnered the attention of many, including the TCOOO label in 2006. The next year, he released his first true smash entitled ‘Look Around’. Indeed, this song was selected by iTunes to join the ranks of Damian Marley, Jah Cure, Tarrus Riley & T.O.K amongst others in it's iTunes Essentials "Rising Stars: Reggae" compilation. Then, MasSicker created another new musical shock wave when he released a free mixtape entitled ‘Split Personality’ that introduced him definitively as one of the best revelation in dancehall reggae music in 2010. With his second mixtape ‘R.A.S. 2.0 - The Evolution Of The Revolution' released in 2011, MasSicker started to step out his songs internationally.

His music offers a creative diversity of sounds dedicated to a large public still keeping same time a perfect conformity with the style demanded by major labels ... Last year, in September 2011, MasSicker has received the first prize as the Champion of the 'Reggae Earth United Competition' with the song 'Un Natural disaster' released on the 'Heaven Gate to Africa Riddim' of Triple L records (Trenchtown Jamaica). With this award, MasSicker made an authentic name for himself among all the rootical, conscious or lovers rock artists.

His most popular track 'One Wish', turning currently on airwaves from all over the globe, has reached early January out to Jamaica where he has been featured as an 'international' artist at the top of the Stampede’s Street Charts.

This year, 'King Mas' is looking to release a CD to his name. This debut album will be entitled 'One Wish'. This debut album will include 16 tracks including the popular song "One Wish".
