ABA and IBIApplied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) - the use of evidence based scientific principles of behaviour and learning to improve socially significant behaviours and encourage an independent lifestyle.Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) - the application of ABA principles in an intensive setting (min. 25 hrs per week).
IBI ABA- Specific intensive format used by the
MCYS Autism Intervention Program- At home or in a private space- 1:1 or small groups for a specified
number of hours (25-40hrs)- Delivered by a trained behaviour
therapist, supervised by a psychologist
- Includes “learning to learn” behaviours: imitation, co-operation, attention
- Designed to prepare young students for school
- An approach to teaching skills based on principles of learning and behaviour
- Can be used at home, at school, in the community
- Can be incorporated into regular school routines
- Can be implemented by classroom teacher and support staff
- Provides a framework for ongoing skill development
- Can meet the needs of all age ranges and skill levels

• Data collection allows for the identification of triggers and patterns of behaviours.
• Data is used to determine if a goal is mastered, when to switch or add new targets, and when to fade support to increase independence.

What ABA strategies were used today? ● Visuals on the tables and walls -> signs for room number,
break area, labelling (treats), visual agenda
● Break corner -> we had an area set up for self-regulation
● Self regulation -> colouring activities, cell phones (texting, games, emails)
● Group evaluation and feedback -> post-its on table and chart paper
● Priming -> tools that were in the room for your use were introduced at the beginning of the workshop
