AAPC online medical coding training courses teach the fundamentals of medical coding, pre‐pares the student for certification and helps them perfect their skills in      medical coding.

2011 CPC® PREPARATION COURSE  This course teaches fundamental skills for medical cod‐ing. It provides the most up‐to‐date information relat‐ing to CPT®, HCPCS and ICD‐9‐CM coding and assures a broad encompassing knowledge and expertise in re‐viewing and assigning the correct procedure and diag‐nosis codes for physician services.

Online medical coding courses give you the flexibility to learn at your own pace and from the comfort of your home or office.  This easy‐to‐use course is divided into learning modules with quizzes at the end of each mod‐ule to assess your progress.   In addition to reading as‐signments, many modules feature audio lectures, criti‐cal‐thinking exercises and other learning materials as well as certified personal coaches to offer guidance.  The student has four (4) months to complete the pro‐gram and one (1) year to take the CPC certification exam.

  The American Academy of Professional Coders training will begin in January 2011 and partici‐pants will have four (4) months to complete the course and one (1) year from the program start date to take the CPC certification exam.   The student will need availability to the coding books, (CPT, ICD‐9‐CM Vol. 1 & 2, and HCPCS).    

Evaluation Methods ‐ The instructional methods used include reading assignments, practice exer‐cises, audio lectures, discussion board assign‐ments, module review tests and final exams.  To successfully complete the course, students must achieve a 70% or higher. 

CPC® Examination ‐ This 150 question exam evalu‐ates a coder’s knowledge, rationales, efficiency and effectiveness and grants CPC® or CPC‐A® certi‐fication upon passing. The exam must be taken within one year from purchase date.

• Membership is required to take any AAPC examina‐

• Students enrolling in the CPC® Preparation course
