Edwards Rushton, Sr. Endowment CATCH award is to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Rushton and his impact on the fi eld of community pediatrics. Critical CareCritical Care Investigator Research AwardSupport: $10,000Honors a new research investigator who has demonstrated a strong aptitude for clinical or basic science research and who presented a sound plan of investigation.


Critical Care Physician-in-Training Travel Education GrantsSupport: $1,000Up to 3 travel grants will be awarded to Pediatric Critical Care Medicine trainees (Fellows and Residents) with the highest scoring abstracts submitted for presentation during the SOCC program at the AAP National Conference. Abstracts focus on patient safety, education, and quality outcomes.


Developmental and Behavioral PediatricsC. Anderson Aldrich AwardSupport: $2,500Th e Award, named honorably in the memory of Dr. Aldrich, a founding member of the AAP and pioneer in child development, acknowledges a pediatrician who has made outstanding contributions to the fi eld of child development.


Emergency MedicineKen Graff Young Investigator Research AwardSupport: $12,500Recognizes an important pediatric emergency medicine research project that addresses issues pertinent to the acutely ill or injured child.


Emergency Medicine Networking EventSupport: $10,000Members and others who provide emergency care to children network and discuss the future of pediatric emergency medicine during a well-attended social event. Abstract and other awards are also presented during this reception.

PEMpix Photo Competition AwardSupport: $400Th is competition is designed to foster visual diagnosis of interesting cases in pediatric emergency medicine. Th e winning photo submission receives a $250 award and the audience participant who makes the most correct diagnoses of photos posted and presented wins a $150 cash prize.


Steve Miller Award for Excellence in Education & Mentorship AwardSupport: $500Th is biennial award recognizes an individual who has made substantial educational contributions in pediatric emergency medicine and has impacted education of pediatric emergency providers at a regional, state, national, or international level. Th e award also recognizes someone who has excelled as an education mentor to others in this subspecialty.


Willis Wingert AwardSupport: $500Th e Willis Wingert Award is presented to a physician in training for outstanding resident/fellow research in the fi eld of pediatric emergency medicine.


Hospital MedicineAbstract Research AwardSupport: $2,000Th e award recognizes outstanding original research in hospital medicine.


Injury, Violence, and Poison PreventionFellow and Resident Achievement AwardsSupport: $6,000Th e Section on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention Program provides a forum for section members and potential members to learn about and discuss topics in injury and violence prevention and to network professionally. Th e Fellow and Resident Achievement Awards honor a pediatrician and a trainee who have made signifi cant contributions to the fi eld of injury and violence prevention.

Ambassador ProgramSupport: $25,000Th e AAP invites leaders from pediatric societies around

Preventing Toxic Stress and Promoting ResiliencySupport: $15,000In 2015, the International Child Health Session, Preventing Toxic Stress and Promoting Resiliency, will bring together pediatric leaders from around the world to address their country’s approach to minimizing the eff ects of toxic stress and promoting healthy development of children. Speakers and participants will discuss available resources and innovative strategies to promote resilience, explore best practices, and identify opportunities for greater collaboration to maximize outcomes for children globally.

Funding will cover travel and lodging for six expert speakers, refreshments for session participants, and miscellaneous costs related to printing materials and promotion.


Internal Medicine - PediatricsPhysician Health and Wellness BoothSupport: $2,500Th e AAP Section on Med-Peds is hosting an information booth located within the AAP Resource Center that provides attendees an opportunity to discuss health issues and current recommendations with a board-certifi ed internist.


Med-Peds Networking ReceptionSupport: $4,000Th e AAP Section on Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) is committed to advocacy, education, improving communication and research related to the practice and

training of physicians in combined internal medicine and pediatrics. Th e section is the 3rd largest of all the sections and councils and currently has over 2900 members. Th is well-attended event provides attendees opportunities to network with section members and leadership. Awards for clinical case abstracts are also presented during this time.


Med-Peds Resident Clinical Abstract AwardSupport: $1,000Two awards of $500 are given to the top two residents for presenting outstanding clinical cases in med-peds.

5K Fun Run / WalkJoin the fun at the 6th annual 5K Fun Run/Walk benefi tting the AAP Friends of Children Fund! Th is exciting athletic event, taking place at the National Conference, off ers great exposure opportunities for sponsors, while fundraising for the Friends of Children Fund.

Contributions to the AAP Friends of Children Fund support high-priority projects

including access to child health programs, quality improvement initiatives, and public information campaigns on issues such as immunization awareness, violence prevention, obesity, and disaster relief. Since 1989, the Friends of Children Fund has provided nearly $10 million in support for these and other AAP projects.
