AUSTRALIAN AIRPORTS ASSOCIATIONABOUT US

The Australian Airports Association (AAA) is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1982 in recognition of the need for one coherent, cohesive, consistent and vital voice for all aerodromes and airports across Australia.

The AAA now represents the interests of more than 330 airports and aerodromes Australia wide – from the local country community landing strip to major international gateway airports. There are a further 120 corporate members representing aviation stakeholders and organisations that provide goods and services to the airport sector.

The AAA facilitates co-operation among all member airports and their many and varied partners in Australian aviation, whilst contributing to an air transport system that is safe, secure, environmentally responsible and efficient for the benefit of all Australians and visitors.

The AAA is the leading advocate for appropriate national policy relating to airport activities and operates to ensure regular transport passengers, freight, and the community enjoy the full benefits of a progressive and sustainable airport industry.

The AAA offers several services to its members. These include:

• A unified voice when advocating for the sector to Government and other organisations;• Advocacy on issues of concern at local and national levels;• Opportunities to develop professional networks through our Division Meetings, Working Groups

WELCOME TO THE AAA VIRTUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE

This time last year, Australia’s thriving airport sector was getting ready to fly to the Gold Coast for the Australian Airport Association’s Annual National Conference.

It was a huge success with more than 800 delegates taking part in a week of speaker and panel sessions on the latest industry developments and enjoying a series of networking events.

If 2020 was a normal year, right now we’d be headed for Sydney meeting face-to-face again, but there is nothing normal about 2020.

With so much uncertainty around border closures and social distancing requirements, the AAA made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s conference.

While we’re disappointed not to be seeing all of you in person, the AAA team has worked hard to pull off the Virtual National Conference – Airports Beyond 2020.

We wanted to find a way to stay connected, discuss the issues which are affecting us right now and importantly, end the year on a positive note.

We’re optimistic that most domestic borders will soon be open so families can be reunited for Christmas. In many cases it will be airports that will make this possible. We are the gateway to the world and while we may be doing it tough right now, we are strong, we are resilient and we are hopeful that this time next year we’ll be back in business and part of a team leading our nation’s COVID-19 recovery.

We would not have been able to deliver this event without our partners. Thank you to our Major Event Partner Veritas and our four Event Partners; Avdata, AVSEC GROUP, Collins Aerospace and Fulton Hogan. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy the Virtual Conference sessions over the coming weeks and I look forward to seeing you online throughout November.

PROGRAM

Thursday 26 November

3pm – 4pm Bernard Salt, Futurist, Columnist, Keynote Speaker, Business Advisor & Author

Bernard will track the new businesses, work practices, consumer behaviours created by coronavirus. In a post pandemic world, Australians will commit to a revitalisation of local manufacturing and especially in agribusiness, chemicals, light fabrication. And the experience of working from home will deliver a new productivity, lessen commuting, upskill the workforce in self-sufficiency and create new businesses in technology. The home office will morph into a home (TV) studio. Plus, on the relationship front, this experience will make us less self-focussed and more community-focussed in our orientation. We might even view love differently: more about giving and sharing. Is there a way that we can make this horrible experience create a stronger, more resilient and more caring Australia? Bernard will share his thoughts about about how Australia will change during the 2020s as a consequence of coronavirus.

4pm – 5pm Pub Trivia At the conclusion of the Virtual National Conference join fellow delegates for an hour of virtual networking including ‘pub trivia’. Grab your colleagues, organise some nibbles and drinks and join in the fun.

You will have the chance to take home the bragging rights of being the 2020 AAA Virtual National Conference Pub Trivia Champion(s).
