1. SEBI DOUBLES INVESTMENT LIMIT OF ANGEL FUNDS TO RS. 10 CRORE: To encourage early-stage start-ups, Securities and Exchange Board of India has decided to double the investment limit by angel funds in venture capital undertakings to Rs. 10 crore. Angel funds/investors, encourage entrepreneurship by financing small start-ups at a stage when they find it difficult to obtain capital from conventional sources of finance such as banks and financial institutions. SEBI's decision to raise the maximum investment will increase it from Rs. 10 crore from the current Rs. 5 crore.

2. ASSAM LAUNCHES TOLL-FREE HELPLINE FOR WOMEN: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched '181-Sakhi', a toll-free helpline number for women. This helpline has been launched in wake of increasing crimes against women in Assam. It is a part of Union Ministry of Women and Child Development's scheme to provide 24 hours response to women affected by violence.

3. GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS: In a bid to engage college students in Government's cleanliness drive, Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has introduced a Swachh Bharat Summer Internship .Students (interns) would be required to undertake 100 hours of activities including creation of sanitation infrastructure, building necessary systems and carry out behaviour change campaigns in and around nearby villages. On successful completion of above stated activities, interns would be provided a Certificate of Internship by the Swachh Bharat Mission.

4. NEW JERSEY DECLARES APRIL AS SIKH AWARENESS MONTH: In wake of increasing and unacceptable levels of anti-Sikh bigotry, US state of New Jersey's State Assembly has declared April as 'Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month'. During the month of April, efforts will be made to promote public awareness of the Sikh faith, recognise the important contributions of the Sikh community and combat anti-Sikh bigotry. After 9/11 terrorist attacks in US, rates of anti-Sikh bigotry rose dramatically as Sikhs in America are often confused for Muslims.

5. UP CM INAUGURATES INDIA'S LONGEST ELEVATED ROAD IN GHAZIABAD: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Hindon Elevated Road – India's longest elevated road, in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Hindon Elevated Road is a six-lane road and 10.3 km long. The main objective of this road is to ease traffic movement between Ghaziabad and New Delhi. The vehicles will be allowed to drive at an average speed limit of 80 km/hour on this road.

6. PM NARENDRA MODI TOPS INDIAN EXPRESS LIST OF MOST POWERFUL INDIANS: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has retained the top spot on 'IE 100 2018', The List of Most Powerful Indians. PM Modi has retained the top spot as he has been the face of BJP in every election (Assembly, by-poll or civic polls) contested since 2014. At No. 2 is BJP President Amit Shah, who has been instrumental in getting inroads for BJP in new bastions. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi (at No. 5) is the most powerful woman on the list. INDIA GETS FIRST US LNG SHIPMENT AT DABHOL, MAHARASHTRA: India received its first LNG cargo from the US under a long-term supply deal when a ship carrying super-cooled natural gas arrived at Dabhol in Maharashtra. GAIL India has contracted 3.5 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas from US energy firm Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass liquefaction facility in Louisiana. The first cargo from the project arrived at Dabhol, the city of India's biggest gas-fired power plant.

8. MEETING OF PIC BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN HELD IN NEW DELHI: The meeting of Permanent Indus Commission between India and Pakistan began in New Delhi. Representatives from both the sides had discussed Water Treaty dispute and resolution of outstanding issues. The PIC is mandated to establish and maintain cooperative arrangements for the implementation of the treaty and to promote cooperation between the two sides in developing the Indus water systems. The Indus Waters Treaty was signed in 1960 and involves six rivers – the Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, Indus, Chenab and Jhelum.PK Saxena- India's Indus Water Commissioner.

9. SHEKHARKAPUR TO HEAD THE JURY FOR 65TH NATIONAL FILM AWARDS: Veteran director Shekhar Kapur has been appointed the chairman of the central panel of the 65th National Film Awards. The central panel comprises a chairperson and 10 other members, including five regional chairpersons who head the respective regional panels. Film writer Imtiaz Hussain, known for his works in films like Astitva (2000) and Parinda (1989) will be the regional chairperson of South I panel.

10. ISSF JUNIOR WORLD CUP: MUSKANBHANWALA WINS GOLD: Indian shooter Muskan Bhanwala clinched the gold medal in women's 25m pistol event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney, Australia. The 16-year-old Muskan beaten China's Qin Sihang and Thailand's Kanyakorn Hirunphoem. India thus upstaged China with 22 medals, including nine gold. India has also five silver and eight bronze medals.

11. MITHALI RAJ ADJUDGED 'SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR': Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj was adjudged 'Sportsperson of the Year' .Aceshuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and P V Sindhu bagged the best senior male and female athletes at the Telangana Sports Journalists Association annual awards for 2017 in Hyderabad. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman presented 'best coach of the year' award to Pullela Gopichand, who received this award for the second time in a row. Triple Olympian and former national Hockey player N Mukesh Kumar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the event.

12. INDIA BECOMES 2ND LARGEST PRODUCER OF MOBILE PHONES IN THE WORLD: India is now the second-largest mobile phone producer in the world after China. According to the data shared by Indian Cellular Association with the government, annual production of mobile phones in India increased from 3 million units in 2014 to 11 million units in 2017. India replaced Vietnam to become the second largest producer of mobile phones in 2017.

13. DELHI BECOMES 1ST CITY TO ROLL-OUT EURO VI FUEL: .Aim to combat the rising levels of air pollution in Delhi-NCR region, petrol pumps in the capital started supplying ultra-clean Bharat Stage VI grade fuel (both petrol and diesel). This move makes New Delhi the first city in the country to switch from BS-IV grade fuels to BS-VI (equivalent to fuel meeting Euro-VI emission norms).The major difference in standards between the existing BS-IV and the new BS-VI auto fuel norms is the presence of sulphur.

15. MANGALURU AIRPORT ADJUDGED INDIA'S CLEANEST AIRPORT: The Mangalore International Airport has been adjudged the cleanest airport in the country. Airport director VV Rao received the award during the 23rd annual day celebrations of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in New Delhi. In the survey conducted across 53 airports in the country by AAI, Mangaluru airport was adjudged the cleanest.

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY- 2 APRIL: The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day .The day is observed to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society. The theme for WAAD 2018 is "Empowering Women and Girls with Autism".

17. RUSSIA TESTS NEW NUCLEAR ICBM SARMAT: Russia successfully tested its latest intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat.It will replace the Soviet-era Voyevoda, which is known as “Satan” in the West. 'Satan' is the world's heaviest ICBM. ICBM Sarmat weighs 200 metric tons and has a greater range than 'Satan'. It can even fly over the North or the South Poles and can strike targets anywhere in the world.

18. USA AND SOUTH KOREA BEGIN JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE- 'FOAL EAGLE': The United States and South Korea began their joint military training exercise named 'Foal Eagle. More than 11,500 U.S. troops and nearly 300,000 South Korean forces will take part in the four-week exercises. Foal Eagle, the largest annual joint military exercise in South Korea, usually runs about two months. Its start was delayed this year at the request of South Korea until after the Winter Olympics

US DIPLOMAT DICARLO BECOMES 1ST FEMALE UN POLITICAL CHIEF: Long-serving American diplomat Rosemary DiCarlo was appointed to become the first woman to head UN political affairs, one of the most high-profile positions at the world body. DiCarlo has replaced Jeffrey Feltman. DiCarlo also served as deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs and director for United Nations affairs at the national security council in Washington.

20. MIAMI OPEN 2018- COMPLETE LIST OF WINNERS: The Miami Open also known as the Miami Masters, is an annual tennis tournament for men and women currently held in Florida, the USA. American John Isner won his first ever Masters 1,000 title with a victory over German Alexander Zverev in the Miami Open final.S. Stephens won in the Women's singles category.

21. KERALA LIFTS THEIR 6TH SANTOSH TROPHY: Kerala has lifted their sixth Santosh Trophy Football title. In a thrilling final at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Kerala held their nerves to beat defending champions and 32-time winners Bengal via penalty shootout. Kerala goalkeeper V Mithun put up a stellar show in the tie-breaker to help his side win 4-2.

BLOOMBERG BILLIONAIRES TOP 100 INDEX RELEASED: Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani has been ranked 19th on Bloomberg Billionaires Top 100 Index as he becomes the third richest Asian on the list. Ambani's wealth is pegged at about over 1.5 percent of India's GDP.Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has added $21.8 billion to his fortunes this year and takes the top spot, Microsoft founder Bill Gates was ranked 2nd. From Asia, Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma (ranked 13th) is the richest with a net worth of $47.2 billion and is followed by Tencent co-founder and CEO Pony Ma (17) with a $41.1 billion net worth.

23. NIRMALASITHARAMAN IN RUSSIA TO ATTEND MOSCOW CONFERENCE: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in Russia to attend the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security. This is her first visit to Russia in her capacity as the Defence Minister. During her three-day tour, she will meet her Russian counterpart Army General Sergei Shoigu and other senior leaders.

24. WEST BENGAL INTRODUCES 'RUPASHREE SCHEME' FOR MARRIAGE OF POOR GIRLS: The state government of West Bengal introduced a new scheme called 'Rupashree' in order to provide marriage assistance to girls coming from economically weaker families with a budgetary allocation of Rs 1500 crore. The scheme proposes to extend one-time financial assistance worth Rs 25,000 to the family of the girl whose annual income is up to Rs 1.5 lakh.

25. WORLD-CLASS TOURIST AMENITIES UNVEILED AT KONARK SUN TEMPLE: A world-class interpretation centre and other tourist facilities for visitors were inaugurated at the Konark Sun Temple, Odisha. The facilities were inaugurated by the Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

26. E-WAY BILL FOR INTER-STATE MOVEMENT OF GOODS COMES INTO FORCE: With the beginning of the financial year 2018-19, the e-way Bill System for Inter-State movement of goods comes into force. Under this system businesses and transporters have to produce before a GST inspector e-way bill for moving goods worth over Rs 50,000 from one state to another.

INDIA RANKS 37TH IN GLOBAL STARTUP ECOSYSTEM: STARTUPBLINK REPORT: According to report released by global startup ecosystem map Startupblink, India was ranked 37th out of 125 countries in global startup ecosystem in 2017. Startupblink is a global startup ecosystem map with tens of thousands of registered startups, coworking spaces, and accelerators. The list, measuring startup ecosystem strength and activity, was topped by the United States followed by the United Kingdom.

28. HRD MINISTRY RELEASES 'NIRF INDIA RANKINGS 2018': The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Mr PrakashJavadekar, released the National Institute of Ranking Framework India Rankings 2018 in various categories on the basis of performance of Higher Educational Institutions in a programme held in New Delhi. The top 3 Overall Institutes in India are: Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bengaluru), Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The top 3 Universities in India are- Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi.

29. INDIA-JAPAN-US TRILATERAL TALKS HELD IN NEW DELHI: The crucial dialogue between the three leading democratic powers India, Japan and the USA of the Indo-Pacific region was held in New Delhi. The India-Japan-US trilateral was launched in December 2011. It was elevated to ministerial level in September 2015. The last ministerial dialogue was held in New York in September 2017.

30. TRIAL RUN OF 1ST INDIA-BANGLADESH CONTAINER TRAIN FLAGGED OFF: The trial run of the first container train between India and Bangladesh was flagged off from Kolkata city. The train left for Bangladesh with 60 containers loaded with almost 1,200 tonnes of de-oiled cake, used as a raw material for animal feed.

It proposes to include “National Commission for Protection of Child Rights” as deemed Member of the Commission;It proposes to add a woman Member in the composition of the Commission;It proposes to enlarge the scope of eligibility and scope of selection of Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission as well as the State Human Rights Commission; and

34. CWG 2018: MIRABAICHANU WINS INDIA'S FIRST GOLD MEDAL: Weightlifter and current world champion MirabaiChanu has clinched India's first gold medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. MirabaiChanu becomes the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018. After finishing with the best lift of 86 kg in the snatch round, the 23-year-old finished with a total score of 196 points. She competed in the 48 kg category.

35. CWG 2018: WEIGHT LIFTER P. GURURAJA WINS SILVER: On the first day of competitions at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018, in Australia, India began their campaign with a Silver Medal in Weightlifting. In the 56 kilogram category, P Gururaja lifted a total weight of 249 kg to finish second in the event. The 25-year old Guru rajaequalled his personal best. Malaysia took the Gold, while Sri Lanka settled for the Bronze.

1. ISRO LAUNCHES NAVIGATION SATELLITE IRNSS-1I: The Indian Space Research Organisation launched the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System-1I, the eighth such satellite to be a part of a constellation. It was launched from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Srihari kota, Andhra Pradesh. IRNSS-1I is expected to replace IRNSS-1A, the first of the seven navigation satellites that was rendered ineffective after its three rubidium atomic clocks failed.

2. FSSAI LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO ADDRESS VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India launched 'Project Dhoop', an initiative aimed at shifting the school assembly time to noon to ensure maximum absorption of Vitamin D in students through natural sunlight. The project was launched in New Delhi and saw the participation of around 600 students from NCERT, NDMC and North MCD Schools. The CEO of FSSAI is Pawan Agarwal.

3. INDIA AND NEPAL AGREE TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONS IN KEY AREAS: India and Nepal have agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations in key areas of border security, connectivity, trade and agriculture. The two countries agreed to develop inland waterways for o economic development of the region. Aiming to expand cross-border rail linkages, the two sides have also decided to construct a new electrified rail line, with India's financial support.

4. PRADHANMANTRIUJJWALAYOJANA LAUNCHED IN DELHI: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhanlaunched Pradhan Mantri UjjwalaYojana scheme in Delhi and distributed new LPG connections and cylinders to beneficiaries. During the event, about 400 LPG connections were handed over to families belonging to below poverty line category. Target under this scheme has been increased from the existing 5 crore connections to 8 crore connections by 2020.

5. 4. NITINGADKARI ON 4-DAY VISIT TO SOUTH KOREA: Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkariis on a four-day official visit to South Korea. The visit is aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations and fur ther cementing cooperation in areas, including sharing of technology, experience in port development and joint participation in port-related construction.

6. FPI INVESTMENT LIMIT IN GOVERNMENT SECURITIES HIKED: Reserve Bank of India, in consultation with the Government, hiked the foreign portfolio investor investment limit in Central government securities from 5% of outstanding stock now to 5.5% in FY2019 and 6% in FY2020. The FPI investment in state development loans has been left unchanged at 2% of outstanding stock of securities.

7. INDIA'S FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES HIT A LIFE-TIME HIGH: India's foreign exchange reserves hit a life-time high of 424.361 billion US dollar after rising by 1.828 billion dollar. According to the Reserve Bank of India data the collection of foreign exchange reserve is at higher rate as comparable to last years.

Om Prakash Mitharval bagged bronze in the same event. India's 17-year-old shooter Mehuli Ghosh set a Commonwealth Games joint record to win silver in the women's 10m Air Rifle event. India's 25-year-old shooter Apurvi Chandela won a bronze medal in the same event.

INDIA WIN BADMINTON TEAM GOLD FOR 1ST TIME IN CWG HISTORY: India clinched their first-ever badminton mixed team event gold in Commonwealth Games history after defeating defending champions Malaysia 3-1 in the final at Gold Coast. India's previous best performance in mixed team event at CWG was a silver-medal finish in the 2010 edition. Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth represented India in singles' matches of the five-member team event.

11. WEIGHTLIFTER PUNAMYADAV WINS 5TH GOLD FOR INDIA: India's weightlifter Punam Yadav won gold in the Women's 69kg weightlifting category. This was India's fifth gold medal in the ongoing games. Venkat Rahul Ragala earned India the fourth Gold medal after lifting 338 kilograms in the Men's 85 kg category

12. INDIAN WOMEN'S TT TEAM WINS GOLD: India has bagged three more Gold, one Silver and two bronze medals at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Indian women's Table Tennis team won their first ever Gold Medal defeating Singapore. Manika Batra led Table tennis team's victory was historic as Singapore had never lost since 2002.

13. CONFERENCE ON WATER, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE BEGINS IN NEPAL: An international conference on 'Water, Environment and Climate Change: Knowledge Sharing and Partnership' started in Kathmandu, Nepal. The basic objective of the conference is to bring together professionals, government and non-government institutions to discuss and deliberate on challenges related to water and environmental issues.

14. CWG 2018: HEENASIDHU WINS GOLD IN 25M PISTOL EVENT: Indian shooter Heena Sidhu set Commonwealth Games record to win gold in women's 25m pistol shooting event. This is Sidhu's second medal at CWG 2018, after winning silver in women's 10m air pistol. Another Indian shooter Annu Singh came sixth in the same event.

15. PM MODI LAUNCHES INDIA'S 1ST ALL-ELECTRIC HIGH-SPEED TRAIN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India's first all-electric high-speed locomotive in Bihar. The first big Make-in-India project completed by France's Alstom, the train has the country's most powerful engine with 12,000 horsepower and a maximum speed of 120 km/hr. The average cost of one high-speed locomotive is around Rs25 crore.

16. VP VENKAIAH NAIDU INAUGURATES SCIENTIFIC CONVENTION ON WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a scientific convention on the World Homeopathy Day in New Delhi. The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Homoeopathy founder Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann on 10 April. The theme of the two-day convention is Innovate: Evolve, Progress: Exploring Science since 40 years.

17. 1ST NITI FORUM MEET AT AGARTALA: Tripura hosted the first meeting of the NITI Forum- a unit of NITI Aayog in Agartala. Chief Ministers of all Northeastern States, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region and senior officials of NITI Aayog and Union Government joined the conclave. The 'NITI Forum for North East' was constituted in February 2018 with an aim to ensure the sustainable economic growth of the North Eastern Region of the country. The meeting was chaired by the vice-chairman of the NITI Aayog, Rajeev Kumar.

18. TRANSGENDERS TO BE RECOGNISED AS INDEPENDENT GENDER CATEGORY IN PAN FORM: The government has amended Income Tax rules that will now allow transgenders to be recognised as an independent category of applicants for obtaining a Permanent Account Number for their tax-related transactions. The Central Board of Direct Taxes which frames the policy for the department, issued a notification that provides a new tick box for the transgenders to apply for the PAN. Sushil Chandra is the present Chairman of CBDT.

19. NEPAL PRESIDENT INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN SOUTH ASIA: President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated an International Conference on Human Rights in South Asia in Kathmandu. The conference is organized by the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal. The theme of the conference is "Identifying Challenges, Assessing Progress, Moving Forward: Addressing Impunity and Realizing Human Rights in South Asia". PM Modi Inaugurates 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in New Delhi. It is the largest gathering of Ministers from energy consuming, producing and transit countries. It is hosted by India and co-hosted by China and Korea, the meeting aims to focus on how global shifts, transition policies and new technologies influence market stability and future investment in the energy sector.

20. RAHUL AWARE WINS INDIA'S 1ST WRESTLING GOLD: Rahul Aware bagged India's first wrestling gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018 after beating Canada's Steven Takahashi in the final of men's Freestyle 57 kg event. Before the final, the 26-year-old had claimed two dominating victories with the scorelines 11-0 and 10-0, while he defeated Pakistan's Muhammad Bilal 12-8 in the semi-final.

21. BALRAMBHARGAVA APPOINTED NEW DG OF ICMR: Balram Bhargava has been appointed the new Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research. Bhargava, currently a senior consultant cardiologist at the All India Institute of Medical Science, will carry out this role until 2021. He will succeed Soumya Swaminathan.

22. BAN KI-MOON ELECTED BFA CHAIRMAN: Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been elected chairman of 'Boao Forum for Asia' (BFA). He has replaced former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. BFA was Founded in 2001, the BFA is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals.

23. RISHADPREMJI APPOINTED NASSCOM CHAIRMAN: Rishad Premji, Board member of Wipro Ltd. has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies for 2018-19. He succeeds Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, who served as Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2017-18.

SHOOTER SHREYASI SINGH WINS 12TH GOLD : Indian shooter Shreyasi Singh won the women's double trap gold in a shoot-off after scoring 96 points to take India's gold medal tally at the 21st Commonwealth Games 2018 to 12. This was her second CWG medal after having claimed a silver at the 2014 Glasgow Games.

25. OM MITHARVAL WINS BRONZE IN SHOOTING: Indian shooter Om Prakash Mitharval settled for the bronze medal in the men's 50m pistol event at the 21st Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia. Australia's Daniel Repacholi bagged the gold medal in the event with a Games record 227.2 while Shakil Ahmed of Bangladesh won the silver.

26. WORLD'S LARGEST SOLAR PARK TO COME UP IN GUJARAT: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani approved setting up a 5,000 MW capacity solar park at the Dholera Special Investment Region which would be the largest such entity in the world after its completion. The proposed solar power generation project would be set up in 11,000 hectares of land with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore.

27. BANGLADESH ENDS RESERVATION IN GOVERNMENT JOBS: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to scrap the quota system in government services after thousands of students marched across the country in protest against a controversial policy of setting aside jobs for special groups. The students began the protests against discriminatory quotas for government jobs, leaving scores of people injured at the Dhaka University.

INDIA'S GDP TO GROW 7.3% THIS FISCAL, 7.6% IN NEXT: ADB: The Asian Development Bank has projected that India's economic growth is set to rise to 7.3% this fiscal and further to 7.6% in the next financial year, on back of GST and banking reforms. According to the Asian Development Outlook 2018, Indian economy grew 6.6% in the last fiscal and it would remain the fastest-growing country across Asia.

29. IPS OFFICER RAJESH RANJAN APPOINTED DG OF CISF: Senior IPS officer Rajesh Ranjan was appointed as Director General of Central Industrial Security Force .MrRanjan is at present Special Director General, Border Security Force . He has been appointed as the chief of the CISF till 2020.

INDIA'S KIDAMBISRIKANTH BECOMES WORLD NO. 1 BADMINTON PLAYER: Kidambi Srikanth has become the first Indian male badminton player to attain the world number one ranking since Prakash Padukone in the 1980s. Srikanth had become the first-ever Indian to win four Superseries titles in a year in 2017. It helped India win gold at the mixed team event at the Commonwealth Games for the first time ever.

31. SUSHIL KUMAR WINS GOLD IN WRESTLING: Indian wrestler and Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar bagged his third straight Commonwealth Games gold medal after winning the men's Freestyle 74 kg event. The 34-year-old wrestler won the final 10-0, having dominated all previous opponents with scorelines of 11-0, 10-0, and 4-0.Sushil has a silver and a bronze in Olympics and was crowned world champion in 2010.

32. UNION HOME MINISTER LAUNCHES E-FRRO SCHEME: Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh launched the web-based application 'e-FRRO'(e-Foreigners Regional Registration Office). Under the current system, foreigners staying in India on Visa duration of more than 180 days have to get themselves registered with their respective FRROs. Similarly, foreigners requiring different kind of visa related services such as Visa extension, Change of address, Visa Conversion, Change of Educational institutions, Exit permits etc. are currently required to visit the FRROs. By using e-FRRO application, foreigners in India would be able to get as many as 27 Visa and Immigration related services from the comfort of their place of stay, through email/post without appearing in person at the FRRO office. e-FRRO was introduced in four FRROs Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

CHINA LAUNCHES CLOUD PLATFORM FOR ITS SCIENTISTS: China has introduced China Science and Technology Cloud to provide scientists with accessible, accurate and secure data services to promote research and innovation. China Science and Technology Cloud has been developed by the Computer Network Information Centre of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. CSTC obtains data from the academy's research institutes and major scientific installations, and many Chinese top universities and private innovation centres.

34. RBI TIGHTENS REPORTING NORMS FOR LIBERALISED REMITTANCE SCHEME: Reserve Bank of India issued a notification aimed at tightening reporting norms for the Liberalised Remittance Scheme . Under LRS, all resident Indian individuals, including minors, are allowed to freely remit abroad, up to USD 250000 per financial year for any permissible current or capital account transaction or a combination of both. LRS scheme was introduced on February 4, 2004. At that time the limit was just USD 25000. However it was revised in a phased manner in line with prevailing macro and micro economic conditions and now stands at USD 250000 per financial year. Individuals can avail foreign exchange for this purposes within the limit of USD 250000 only, from Authorised Dealers/Banks. With a view to improve monitoring and also to ensure adherence to LRS limits, RBI has directed Authorised Dealers (ADs)/Banks to put in place a daily reporting system listing out all transactions undertaken by individuals under LRS.

JALLIANWALLAHBAGH MASSACRE DAY: April 13,2018 was the 99th anniversary JallianwallahBagh Massacre also known as the Amritsar massacre.15000-20000 people gathered at Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden in Amritsar, Punjabto celebrate the Punjabi harvest festival of Baisakhi and to protest against the repressive Rowlatt Act that imposed control of the press, arrests without warrant and indefinite detention without trial. the Ayushman Bharat schemes that aim at creating a healthy, prosperous and strong India on the occasion of Birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. The first phase of Ayushman Bharat will see 1.5 Lakh such Centers being set up across the country. RAJNATH SINGH LAUNCHES WEB-BASED APP E-FRRO FOR FOREIGNERS: Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched the web-based application e-FRRO (e-Foreigners Regional Registration Office) scheme under which foreigners can avail, various visa and immigration-related services online. This will facilitate hassle-free travel to India for foreigners. The e-FRRO scheme is aimed at building a centralised, transparent online platform for foreigners to avail of visa-related services.

5. NEERAJ CHOPRA, 1ST INDIAN TO WIN GOLD IN JAVELIN THROW: Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian javelin thrower to claim a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. Besides, almost half of the bank accounts remained inactive in the past year, the multilateral financial institution said in a report, even as it lauded the Government's financial inclusion scheme, the Jan Dhan Yojana, for bringing in additional 31 crore Indians into formal banking system by March 2018.It also said the country's adult population with a bank account has more than doubled to 80 per cent since 2011.The Jan Dhan Yojana was launched by the Modi government in 2014.

National Council on India's Nutrition Challenges under POSHAN Abhiyaan was held today in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Dr Rajiv

Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog. The Council which has been set up under POSHAN Abhiyaan is the apex body to formulate overall policies,

guide and monitor all nutrition based schemes. Some of the important decisions taken in the meeting are : 1. 235 Additional Districts have

6. SBI ALLOWS CASH WITHDRAWAL THROUGHPOS MACHINES: State Bank of India has come up with an alternate and convenient method of

cash withdrawal for its customers. The bank is now providing facilities of cash through 'Cash@POS' initiative. Under this, the debit card

holders of SBI and all other banks can withdraw cash from PoS machines installed by SBI across various merchant locations. A customer can

withdraw Rs 1000 in Tier I and Tier II cities whereas Rs 2000 can be withdrawn in Tier 3 to Tier 6 cities per day per card.

7. NABARD APPROVES RS 14,690 CRFUNDING TO RAJASTHAN: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has extended total credit

support of Rs 14,690 crore to Rajasthan for 2017-18. Rajasthan has been one of the biggest beneficiaries under the Rural Infrastructure

Development Fund of NABARD, under which NABARD disbursed concessional loan of Rs 1,851.29 crore to the state government during

2017-18.

8. SMRITI IRANI LAUNCHES GNFC'S NEEM PROJECT IN UP: State-run Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited started its socio-

economic Neem Project, inaugurated by Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi District of Uttar Pradesh. Since 2015, GNFC, through its Neem

Project has collected over 45,000 tonnes of neem seeds by engaging 4.5 lakh rural women in over 60 districts of five states including Gujarat,

Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

9. GUJARAT LAUNCHES POCKET COP PROJECT: The Gujarat police started the Pocket Cop project, which will enable quicker verification of

passport applicants, and search of accused persons, among others. The project was inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in

Gandhinagar. Under the project, smartphones with data connectivity will be given to 4,900 police personnel, including every police station in-

charge, investigating officer, PCR van, and those involved in passport verification.

27. AFSPA REMOVED FROM MEGHALAYA: The Union Home Ministry completely revoked the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act

from Meghalaya while diluting it in other regions of Arunachal Pradesh. Until September 2017, 40% of Meghalaya was under AFSPA. It is now

applicable only in 8 police stations in Arunachal, down from 16 police stations in 2017.

35. SUNDERBAN RESERVE FOREST TO GET RAMSAR SITE STATUS: West Bengal government has given its approval to State Forest Department

to apply for coveted Ramsar Site recognition under Ramsar Convention to Sunderban Reserve Forest. Once it is conferred Ramsar site status,

Sundarbans Reserve Forest will be largest protected wetland in the country. There are currently 26 sites in India recognised as Ramsar

wetland sites of international importance.

36. INDIA AND WORLD BANK SIGNS AGREEMENT TO IMPROVE RURAL ROAD NETWORK IN MP: India and the World Bank signed a $210 million

loan agreement for the Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project. The Project is expected to improve the durability, resilience and safety of

the gravel surfaced rural roads and enhance the capacity of the state to manage its rural roads network. The Project will cover 10,510 km

stretch of rural roads in Madhya Pradesh that fall under the Chief Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana (CMGSY) program

37. MADRAS HC, 1ST COURT IN SOUTH INDIA TO INTRODUCE E-COURT FEE PAYMENT FACILITY: The Madras High Court became the first

court in south India and overall eighth in the country to introduce e-court fee payment facility. It was jointly launched by Chief Minister

Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Chief Justice Indira Banerjee. The new system will enable litigants who file cases in High Court to pay judicial

stamp duty to the government through e-stamps, which can be purchased both online and offline.

country with its diaspora sending about $69 billion back home in 2017, according to the report of the World Bank. Remittances to India picked

up sharply by 9.9% to $69 billion in 2017, reversing the previous year's dip. The World Bank said remittance inflows improved in all regions and
