description

Airbus A380 Technical Training Manual (TTM)Full DocumentNew VersionThe first A380 technical manual, the "Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning," was released this month. It can be consulted and/or downloaded from the A380 Family page on Airbus' web site at www.airbus.com. This is the first time a technical manual of this nature has been made available so early, some three years before the first flight of the aircraft. The Airplane Characteristics manual provides specific A380 data needed by airport authorities and planners to support the operation of the A380 within their airports. Data such as airplane dimensions, take off and landing distances, terminal operations data, taxiing, parking and pavement loading requirements are provided for the A380-800 and A380-800F, the passenger and freighter versions of the A380.Airbus has been working with planning teams from 50 major airports in five continents to ensure smooth handling of the A380 when it enters service in 2006 and the Airplane Characteristics manual is a major support for this.Following release of this first manual and up to entry into service of the A380, Airbus will deliver a full range of technical data for the maintenance, engineering, material support and flight operations departments of A380 airline customers. Technical data for the A380 will be available in electronic format according to the most recent aviation industry standards, which are more efficient and user friendly. They will be accessible through Airbus On Line Services, the Airbus portal for Customer Support.

Proximity Switch - Door Sill LatchThe Door Sill Latches (DSLs) are connected in series. All YZ-doorsill latches have to be in the "down" position to let the power supplythe Cargo Loading System (CLS). Then the cargo compartment doormechanism will be electrically isolated. All YZ-door sill latches have to be in the "up" position to let the powersupply the main CC door opening/closing operation. Then the CLSwill be electrically isolated. As the Door Sill Latches are connectedin series, if at least one of them differs from the other ones, both CLSand cargo door will be electrically isolated.

  • CARGO LOADING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (3)Proximity Switches (continued)

Proximity Switches - ConveyanceThe proximity switches - conveyance indicate if the latch is in thelifted or lowered position. If the latch is lifted, the proximity switchwill signal the relevant control boxes: Compartment Control Box(CCB) or Sector Control Box (SCB), to cut the power supply tospecific Power Drive Units (PDUs) where Unit Load Device (ULD)transportation movements are no longer required.

  • CARGO LOADING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (3)Door-area Control Box (DCB) InterfacesThe DCB is linked with the other control boxes and the Doors and SlidesManagement Control Unit (DSMCU) via CAN bus. The DCB receivesfeedback from the door sill latch proximity switches via a discrete signaland sends a signal to the Outside Control Panel (OCP) via an analogsignal. The DCB has also a link with the Central Maintenance System(CMS) via a bi-directional ARINC 429 link with the SecuredCommunication Interfaces (SCIs).

  • CARGO LOADING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (3)Compartment Control Box (CCB) InterfacesThe Compartment Control Box (CCB) is linked with the other controlboxes via CAN bus. The CCB receives discrete signals from the InsideControl Panel (ICP) and the OCP. Analog data is exchanged with theOCP. The CCB receives feedback from the ball-mat area proximityswitches via a discrete signal and sends discrete commands to thetransverse PDUs.

  • CARGO LOADING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION (3)Electrically Powered Pallet Turning and Extended T-ShapeCLS in AFT CC

This option is used for the loading of three additional pallets (88 in / 96in x 125.0 in lengthwise position in T-shape area) in the AFT cargocompartment. These pallets will be turned in the ball mat area. Additionalcomponents will be installed in the T-shape area of the cargocompartment. The Pallet Turning Unit (PTU) is basically the same as theSCB and additionally monitors the pallet turning function. It is integratedin the floor panels and replaces one SCB.
