THE USE OF SYNERGY• As you can see on the previous slide, all of the publications have used the same house style – a

yellow background with the same font (Century Gothic) used.• This means that the audience can relate to all of my products and can easily identify which film

magazine, poster and film trailer go together.• The layout of the magazine cover and film poster is generally similar. • The main image is very centralised and is very bold on the page. • Plus, the title is situated at the same place (The top of the page) and the little sub-headings are

also situated in a similar place and are also roughly the same size font on both products as well. • The representation of the main protagonist is very evident, especially in the film poster. This is

where the character is drinking a can of fizzy pop and clearly shows the unhealthy side to his lifestyle.

• The mise-en-scene is very suitable in all products, especially the film trailer. One scene where the character is doing some push-ups but is actually trying to reach for the remote control for the TV is good evidence supporting the character’s unhealthy lifestyle. Plus the fact that the character is also wearing the same tracksuit in all scenes in the trailer also supports this factor.

ARE THE PRODUCTS SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR ATTEMPTS AT SYNERGY?• I feel that my publication have created synergy between them incredibly well and I

feel that the viewers will be able to identify each publication to the others. • This is clearly visible with the use of the same font (Century Gothic) and the use of

the colour yellow. • Obviously, synergy could be considered by using the same character on the film

magazine cover and poster. This is a rather simple form of creating synergy because the same character (the only character) is being used to promote film as some films use different characters for both.

AM I HAPPY WITH MY PUBLICATIONS?• I am incredibly happy with what I have created, The Diary of a BIGGER Kid. • The high quality and clarity of the print media (film magazine front cover

and film poster) has been a real success and I feel that gaining my skills in Photoshop from AS Level has been a major help.

• I feel that these skills have improved dramatically over the 2 year course and that I can use these skills for other things later on. For example, YouTube thumbnails. The thumbnail for my

film trailer, The Diary of a BIGGER Kid. Created in Photoshop and works well with the film’s storyline.

DOES IT MEET THE CONVENTIONS OF OTHER COMEDY TRAILERS?• I feel that my film trailer, The Diary of a BIGGER Kid, fits the generic

conventions of comedy film trailers incredibly well. • The fact that it is comedic in a way that a younger audience can understand

and laugh at is a major advantage because a lot of film makers nowadays use strong language or sexual references to create comedy but creating a comedy for a younger audience is much harder.

• Some people could be offended with the fact that in the first scene could be considered to be bullying as the fat person is getting ‘bullied’ by his friends but it is a very minor thing which people may gloss over.
