The A109POWERs reliability is assured by a
fully separated fuel system supplying its twin
engines, plus a dual hydraulic boost system,
dual electr ical system and redundant
lubrication and cooling systems for the main
transmission and engines. And an air oil
absorber for each wheeled type landing gear
leg increases the crashworthiness and ship-
deck operational capabilities. A wide range of
mission equipment and armament
make the A109POWER a real
multirole light helicopter able to
satisfy the vast majority of requirements such as: Area patrolling, Search and
Rescue, EMS, Passengers transport. Many of these missions are often performed
in difficult and unfavourable environmental conditions including night flight under
adverse weather. This demands that the helicopter crew are provided with
assisted flight controls (Autopilot) and autonomous and reliable COM/NAV aids
providing real low-altitude and poor visibility flying capabilities. The A109 POWER
responds to this demand with a complete advanced avionics suite. Participation in
operations in cooperation with naval units is enhanced by the installation of a
360 or 120 search radar and maritime band radios extending the engagement
horizon of the vessels to track and target suspect ships with information relayed
by voice or datalink.
A mul titude of A GUSTA he licop ters have operat ed i n the harsh m aritim e
environment over extended periods of time, starting with the venerable AB204,
our experience continued on the AB212 and SH-3D, and today is provided on the
EH101 and NH-90 helicopters for the Italian, British, French, German, Dutch and
other Navies. All this aptly demonstrating the success of Agustas time-proven
use of established materials, protective finishes and processes. And this
experience affords the A109POWER unrestricted operations in the "salt laden, over
the sea environment without corrosion or other long-term degradation of
structural or system properties.
Today, the A109 operates in maritime missions for a multitude of
prestigious organizations including, among others, the United States
Coast Guard. The A109POWER is actually the best solution for an
embarked l ight twin helicopter, due to its multi-miss ion
effectiveness, the extensive corrosion protection and high sea state
operation capability . The ability to operate from small ships in high
sea state enables the A109POWER to perform its mission when
many other helicopters would be confined in the ships hangar.
The A109POWERs reinforced wheeled landing gear is the perfect
solution for easy ground/deck mobility and ship interface, and
More than ever before, a nations effective surveillance
and patrol of its coasts and borders are paramount for
its protection of national interests and security. Today, a
nations ability to provide that protection against terrorist
intrusion, smuggling, illegal immigration, and illegal
fishing, among others, requires modern assets, means
and technologies to help ensure that protection is
provided successfully and effectively.
With a long tradition of excellent performance in a wide
range of roles and operating environments, the Agusta
A109POWER is that asset.
With its wide array of sophi stica ted sensors , t he
A109POWER light twin turbine engine helicopter offers the
capacity to control and monitor wide areas of concern.
Joined with the A109POWERs performance, ballistic
tolerances, safety features and crashworthiness
characteristics, the combination is unbeatable.
Today, the potential scenarios a nation faces are less
clear than ever. But whether the mission calls for armed
patrol, close-in ground support, special team transport,
medical evacuation, surveillance and control, or VIP
transport, the A109POWERs speed, payload and rapid
role-change capabilities respond to any demands. And in
the end, make the scenario much, much clearer for
everyone except the enemy.
The A109POWER is a 3 ton class helicopter combining
safety attributes such as excellent single engine
performance with technically superior characteristics
such as a cruise speed of 154 knots (285 km/h).
