All primary students should now have their school hat to wear each day. Teach-ers have written student’s names on their hat and recorded the size that they chose. Students who lose their hat will need to buy a new one bucket $4 and surf hat $6. Unfortunately primary students who fail to wear the new school hat will not be participating in the playground. The rule for all primary students is: “No hat No play in the sun without a school hat”.

Some parents have requested additional help to assist their children with literacy and numeracy skills. The school does have a homework centre that operates after school but until it is operating some senior students are available to tutor. Sunday Telegraph: Children and students who write by hand learn better than those who type, a study shows. Some-thing is apparently lost in the brain process when switching from pen to keyboard because reading and writing involves a number of our senses, researchers report. When writing by hand, the movement leaves an imprint in the part of the brain called the sensorimotor and helps to help us recognise letters. Typing on a keyboard pro-duces a different brain response, which does not strengthen the learning mechanism.
