The usability testing in the next 6 month period will be concentrated on the new version of the Publisher. Important will also be preparations for usability testing of the planned release of the full MADIERA infrastructure.

Refinement of Nesstar Webview Continuous process

Installation of the latest version of Nesstar Server (3.5)

Will be the basic version for version 1 of MADIERA, full release planned for month 29. (april/may)

Integration of extended thesaurus on Nesstar Server The thesaurus support is continuously integrated in the Beta version. The developers are continuing work on the specification and the logical model.

D3.3 Beta version of the MADIERA infrastructure As described above there has been some rescheduling and changes in priorities. Two versions were released spring/summer 2004.

Plans

The main goal for the next period is to release a fully functional version 1.0 of the MADIERA infrastructure. As described above this release is planned for M29/30 April/May 2005.  There will be carried out further work on the Publisher side. Functionality concerning the thesaurus and the geo-referencing system will be integrated. The more of this functionality that is available in the publisher, the richer the metadata of the published material on the server.

Dissemination activities, especially within CESSDA will be stepped up. It is important to reach out to all CESSDA archives with information about the project. The goal is to recruit data providers to increase the amount of data in the MADIERA portal. MADIERA will be presented broadly at the eScience conference in Manchester in June and at the IASSIST conference in Edinburgh in May.
