“As a professional in supply chain management for over a decade and who has a full-time extracurricular schedule. It was hard decision to give up a piece of my weekends to attend a CPIM Certification course. However, within the first few
minutes of my first day of class, I knew I had made the right choice. I was immediately aware of passion and heart at which Roger and Honey teach the APICS course, and how expertly they convey its complexity and importance in business. Not only
are they phenomenal teachers; they practice and live the values of APICS daily in their own professional lives. That wealth of
knowledge is transferred and made directly inherent in the CPIM professionals they see through to certification. I’m happy to know this course was well worth the time and cost. I know that it will not only serve me well professionally in the years to come,
but also personally.“ Daniel Cillo, Panning Manager/Senior Buyer, GPT Industries
“I’d like to thank Roger Harris and Honey Johnson for their outstanding effort in delivering the APICS CPIM classes.
Their presentation and materials go beyond what I would have ever received without them and definitely contributed to my passing both Part 1 and Part 2 CPIM exams. On a final note, both Roger and Honey made the classes fun and interesting, adding
much color to the class materials. Many Thanks to you both!” Jeff Lane, CPIM, Chief Information Officer, ADA Carbon

“As both a career advancement tool or a current state of "best in class" refresher, CLTD is a must have for industry participants When enrolled in the CLTD training course, the participants can easily attain a more complete understanding of the material and experience that "Aha" moment again and again by applying real world examples to the course material.” Christopher “Kit” Childers, CLTD, Supply Chain Professional
"In August and September of this year I was privileged to be include in the first class for the APICS Certification in Logistics, Distribution and Transportation in Denver Colorado. This class was my introduction to this discipline. The instructors were knowledgeable, helpful and dedicated in getting the subject matter across not just to pass an exam but on how to use this information to improve a business. Even though this is the first of its kind class in Colorado and was also pretty much my introduction to Logistics, Distribution and Transportation it provided me the knowledge and insight to pass the certification exam on my first try.” Ken Fiore, CPIM, CLTD, Operations Manager, Custom Stone Etching, LLC.

What are Students saying about APICS Education in Colorado?
“As a young professional looking for a way to further my career and knowledge of Supply Chain, I found these
classes from the local APICS Colorado Chapter. The instructors are very experienced in the supply chain industry and teach in a
way that makes the material easy to understand and fun to learn. The classes have helped me in my current job complete
projects with confidence. There were also great students that helped me learn from their experiences as well as build many
friendships. I would highly recommend these courses to anyone new to the supply chain industry, or even those that have been
in the industry for a while, anyone who deals with the supply chain of a company. It will help tremendously. I plan on getting
the CSCP certification in the future and will take the classes from these instructors, there’s just no other way.” Joseph
McQueen, CPIM, Sr. Supply Chain Analyst, Charter Communications
“Three years ago I took the CPIM classes and really enjoyed it. I found the classes to be extremely
informative. The knowledge gained in the classes helped me advance in my career and also get my current job. Since
completing the CPIM exams I have enrolled two of my employees in the CPIM classes so that they can benefit from the same opportunity that I was provided.” Roy Leckonby, CPIM, Director of Global RMA Operations, SpectraLink
“I took the APICS CPIM class while preparing to restart my career in Production Planning after seven years of
break from Supply Chain Management. The production and inventory management concepts and strategies were taught by
instructors with immense knowledge and experience in the field who also shared real life examples. This, along with my
interactions with the fellow students holding different supply chain positions helped me to gain a deeper understanding, and a
good exposure to the current challenges in the field. I found a job in Production Planning soon after the classes were completed.
The company I’m working for now is in the process of implementing a new ERP system, and the concepts that I learned in the
CPIM class helped me to grasp many aspects of the job and the ERP system easily. I believe that the CPIM training enabled me
to find a job faster than I’d expected, and gave me a smoother transition back in the supply chain field. I would highly recommend
this course for anyone interested to advance their career in supply chain management.” Jeena Alex, CPIM, Production
Planner, IMI Precision Engineering
“APICS classes have helped my critical thinking in assessing inventory liabilities. It has also allowed me to be a better gatekeeper of inventory management for Avaya. We have already begun to see the benefits.” Maria Martinez,
Supply Chain Analyst, Avaya

A look back at the
Leonardo da Vinci Dinner and Tour with Dr. Steve Nash
hosted by Denver Museum of Nature and Science
The May PDM was a great success; we had a large crowd, and a great dinner in one of the panorama rooms, followed by
an exclusive viewing of the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit for the evening with our host and museum curator, Dr. Steve Nash.
After a fabulous meal, Dr. Nash gave a brief, and fascinating presentation about the da Vinci history and answered many questions. He then took us into the exhibit and circulated answering still more questions, making it a fun, interactive and informative evening for all! Our thanks to Dr. Nash, the Museum and of course Leonardo.

We’re fast approaching the hot summer months and thank goodness, what an interesting Spring we’ve had! As we progressively enjoy more time outdoors during this time of year, we tend to put some things on the backburner. However, one of those things should not be your APICS membership. Next time you’re about to head out on a hike or a stroll in the farmer’s market, check up on your membership status. Here are a few quick tips on tidying up your membership profile: 1. Check up on your membership renewal date – if it is within 60 days, it is time to renew 2. Update your profile – verify that your personal information and user preferences are up to date 3. Certification Maintenance – take some time to compile the certification maintenance points you’ve earned in the past year
Please keep reading to virtually meet this month’s chapter member in the spotlight!
The Membership Spotlight
This month’s Membership Spotlight is on Gary Sieverin, CPIM, CSCP. Gary has been an APICS member for over 30 years and is a highly valued member of our chapter. Read below to discover more about Gary! How did you first get involved with APICS? I first got involved with APICS when I lived in the Chicago area and was working for Johnson & Johnson as an Industrial Engineering Manager and Warehouse Manager. I earned my CPIM certification and was involved in the south chapter education. I moved to Denver in 1993 and have been part of Chapter 81 ever since.
What have you found most enjoyable about being an APICS member? I am so impressed with the education and certification offerings of our chapter. And of course, at the chapter meetings you meet the greatest people with interesting stories about their backgrounds. How do you fill your free time (hobbies, family, etc.)? I tie flies and fly fish as much as I can. What's next for you now? I am getting more involved with retail, distribution and process manufacturing enterprise implementations. Raising grandchildren and looking forward to eventual retirement and travel.
Last, I encourage you to take a few minutes to log into your profile on the APICS corporate website (www.apics.org) and review your membership status. If your membership expiration date is within a couple of months, it is time to renew. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for assistance in getting you or your company’s memberships renewed through APICS Corporate. Best Regards,
Evan Beggs, CLTD, CPIM, CMfgE VP Membership, APICS Colorado Chapter 81
ASCM Unemployed Membership Extension Program Both ASCM and APICS Colorado Chapter 81 realize that we all can fall on hard times. If you are an unemployed ASCM member whose membership is coming up for renewal and you are actively seeking work within the supply chain management field, you may apply for an extension of membership benefits through the unemployed membership extension program. This program enables members seeking employment within the supply chain management industry to extend their membership for free for an additional six months. Members may apply for this extension up to three times for coverage over an 18-month period. Members apply for the extension through their local chapter, which must approve the request and waive chapter dues. Members approved for this waiver will receive e-membership for the duration of the waiver, which includes access to all member benefits which will be delivered electronically. If you qualify:
Step 1: Contact anyone on the board of directors or go to www.apics.org/apics-for-individuals/membership/extensions to download and complete the ASCM benefits extension for unemployed members form.
Step 2: Submit the form to anyone on the board, who will then process with ASCM and confirm your extension.
