Principal’s / Deputy Principals’ Report Another term coming to a close. So much has
happened and is happening at Forster Public School
on a regular basis.
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank
Mrs Lesley Campbell for her role as President of the
Parent and Citizen’s Association for the last 2 years.
Her commitment to the role and her years of hard
work and dedication are commendable. Due to
personal family reasons Lesley has stepped down
from her role as President but will still be actively
involved in our school community and the P & C.
On that note I would like to welcome the new P & C
committee that were nominated at the Annual
General Meeting last week.
Congratulations to
Sarah Wilkinson-President
Sarah Barlow-Vice President
Suzie Reinhold-Secretary
Alarna Zammit-Treasurer
Uniform Shop- Lesley Campbell and Jo Harris
Grievance Officer- Jada McNeil.
We look forward to working with you to provide
ongoing quality experiences for the Forster PS
students and families.

During the holidays the building near the basketball
court will have a new roof. This will mean that OOSH
will be located in the hall and will be accessed via
Hadley Street.
At the beginning of next term the Year 5 and 6
rooms belonging to Mr Lavis, Mr Blacker, Ms
Henderson and Mrs Gonzalez are being renovated.
The four rooms are going to be made into 21st
century learning spaces. We are very excited and
look forward to the transformation.

It is with great sadness that we farewell Ms Layne
Ross at the end of this term but wish her the best
in her new position at Gloucester High School. Ms

remainder of the year. Ms Simmons is looking
forward to taking the class and meeting the families.
Thank you to all our families who have paid our school
fees. These funds assist us in resourcing classrooms
with essential items to enhance learning. The fees
are very minimal, but greatly appreciated and valued.
If you have not had a chance to pay your fees can you
please contact the front office, who will assist you.
The fees are: $35 per child and $50 per family.

Support Unit K-2 Crocodiles have been working hard in Science.
We have been exploring our space in the world.
Students have enjoyed playing games to experience
competing with others for space and discussing the
protection and shelter provided by their home space.
They had fun making a cubby house and building lego
models of homes.
Mason, Alexia, Noah & Mason
3-6 Scorpions learned how to create a volcano in
science which spewed red foaming lava out of the
top. They have also been exploring their creativity,
through role playing and dress ups.

new classes for 2019. Everyone is working well,
remembering our Forster

Safety, Personal Best and
Respect.
We are looking forward
to celebrating Easter on
Thursday 11 April at
11.30am at our annual K-2
Easter Hat Parade.
On Friday 12 April all students will wear their full
school uniform to commemorate Anzac Day. A whole
school assembly will be held in the hall.
The holidays are coming around quickly and we hope
it will be a fun and safe time for our students.
Kindergarten consent notes will be coming home
regarding School based Occupational Therapy and
Speech Pathology sessions for specific students.
Look out for Parent Teacher interview notes and be
quick to book your time. This is your time to meet

Thank you to all the Stage 2 students who supported
our National Anti-Bullying Day by purchasing and
wearing a wristband! It was great to see so many
students supporting the SRC and building positive
friendships along the way.

Stage 3 Stage 3 are beginning their unit on Government in
preparation for the visit to Canberra scheduled for
Term 3. As part of the program, the Year 5 and 6
students voted in the election this week for the new
state Premier. The candidates were The Rock, Lady
Gaga, Vin Diesel, Arianna Grande, Post Malone and
Ava Maxx and more. The students paid close
attention to the policies espoused by the candidates
and then cast their votes in ballot boxes left over
from last weekend’s elections. They learnt how votes
were counted and saw first-hand why their second
and third preferences are just as important as their
first. The process was thoroughly enjoyed by all and
gave them a taste of what they will have to do as
adults.
The School Leaders and SRC are attending a training
day this Friday at One Mile beach. They will be
involved in leadership activities and team building
exercises in what promises to be a fun and
challenging day.
There are still some students who have outstanding
payments for Kitchen lessons. These need to be paid
off regularly. We are also taking payments for the
Canberra excursion which needs to be completely
paid off by the end of Term 2.

Plastic pollution is the worst type of pollution
impacting our environment
I strongly believe that Plastic is the worst type of
pollution. How would you feel to be a poor helpless
turtle, suffocating from plastic? It is absolutely
disgusting, and it is up to us make a stand, it is up to
us to make a change and it’s up to us to help save our
land.
Firstly, there is just too much plastic! The amount of
plastic is disgusting with 2.6 trillion pounds of
plastic, equal to 7,000 Empire State Buildings! Come
on, you’ve got to realise that is too much waste! In
Europe “Seas at risk” did a survey on its plastic
pollution, and the results were devastating with 46
billion plastic drink bottles a year, 16 billion coffee
cups and 36.4 billion drinking straws a year!
Secondly, it kills. Way too many animals choke on
plastics that float in the ocean. The ocean contains
50-70% of the world’s air, so if it dies, then we die
too. It is up to us do something about it, and luckily,
people are working to clean the ocean. The “ocean
clean-up” has invented a machine that will collect lots
of rubbish and have said that if the prototype works
then they will make bigger better ones.
Finally, if we start now we can make a difference.
The man who invented the machine was 19 years old
when he first came up with the idea, so why can’t we?
![Page 5: A vibrant, caring and successful learning community › content › dam › ... · K-2 Crocodiles have been working hard in Science. We have been exploring our space in the world.](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022081406/5f1071947e708231d449230b/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
It may cost a lot of money, think about the future
generations, they deserve a good healthy life, not a
horrible toxic one.
In conclusion, we should help save the ocean or the
entire world will die out. So, save the ocean! Save the
ocean! Save the ocean! Save the ocean! Save the
ocean! Save the ocean……..

Sport Netball
Shaylin, Jessica and Asha represented our school at
the Manning Zone Trials two weeks ago. The girls all
played well and Shaylin made it through to the next
round. She is off to Newcastle on Friday 29 March
to try out for the Hunter Team. Congratulations and
good luck Shaylin! We are also sending two netball
teams off to Boronia on the last week of term to
compete in the Gala Day. They have been training
hard and I’m sure they will make us proud on the day.
Cricket
The 2nd round of the PSSA was played against
Tuncurry last Friday. We started out bowling. With
some great helpful advice our boys knocked off
Tuncurry for only 65 runs. Next we took to chasing
down the total. We did really well only losing the one
wicket and scoring the 66 runs very quickly, being
done and dusted and back at school before lunch. We
would like to say a big Thankyou to Mr. Everingham
for his support and umpiring for the day. Next round
will be played Wednesday 3 April against Gloucester
again at Lake St Oval Forster between 10-2 for
anyone wishing to come watch.
Rugby League
Last week, 13 Forster PS students attended the
Manning Zone Rugby League trials in Tuncurry. Six
students were successful in gaining a spot in the
team to attend the Hunter Trials held yesterday.
Those students were Jesse, Brody and Tye in the
opens and Ryley, Noah and Lyrikah in the under 11’s.
Congratulations to these students as the Manning
Zone team is usually the strongest team to attend
the Hunter trials. Good luck and tackle hard!

the Manning Zone under 11’s
Football
Last week Cameron, Josh, Jaiden, Louis, Cooper and
Toby were selected to trial for the Manning
Representative Team. Congratulations to Josh and
Jaiden who have progressed to try out for the
Hunter team.
The PSSA boys football team will compete in their
first round clash against Tuncurry PS next week.
Good luck boys.

We already have a number of activities in the
planning. One of these is our inaugural Spring Ball on
Saturday 28 September. This is a chance for
parents, carers and community members to get
together, celebrate and of course raise important
funds for our school. Keep an eye out for details, as
it is set to be the event of the year. We are
currently looking for sponsors, so if you would like to
be involved, please get in touch.
We also have our annual Mother’s and Carer’s day
stall on Thursday 9 May. Children just need to bring
$5 on the day to pick out a present for that special
person in their life. If your child is away that day,
there will be some gifts available the next day.
Children can check in with their class teacher for
details.
We would love to get more people involved in the P&C.
Our next meeting is Monday 13 May, 5:30pm in the
Staffroom. If meetings aren’t your thing, but you
would still like to help out, please get in touch and we
can let you know when we have events and activities
coming up that you can get involved in.
To get in touch, just send an email to
Many Thanks,
