Caledon Public Library is pleased to celebrate aspiring authors, poets and photographers in the community with its Click.Create.Celebrate contest. This is a compilation of many of the library’s contests and includes: Adult Short Story, Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial Teen Short Story, Children's Short Story (2 age categories), Adult Poetry, Young Adult Poetry, Photography (3 categories) and Young Reels. We’re changing things up a bit this year, with contests being held at different times throughout the year in order to celebrate our 2017 theme of Celebrating Canada 150. SHORT STORY CONTESTS February 1 - March 31, 2017 Adult Short Story | ages 18+ Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial Teen Short Story | ages 13 - 17 Children Short Story | ages 6 - 8 and ages 9 - 12 POETRY CONTESTS April 1 – 30, 2017 Adult Poetry | ages 18+ Teen Poetry | ages 13 - 17 PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST July 1 - August 31, 2017 Children | Teens | Adults YOUNG REELS This contest for youth in high school culminates in a special screening of all films bringing together all participants, teachers, mentors, friends, family and CPL staff. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, March 8 at Landmark Cinemas in Bolton. Cost is $10 at the door. Doors open at 6.

Each week children will choose an age and reading level appropriate book to practice reading independently at home.

Saturdays: April 8, 15, 22, 29 | MDV Branch 10:30 am - 12 noon | Ages 12 and under Build the biggest castle or compete in a timed building challenge. Each week we will explore a different structure and objects that can be built using LEGO. Bring your friends and start building! The activities in this program are designed for children ages 5+ to work independently. Children under 5 years are invited to participate with adult accompaniment. This is a self-directed activity.

DIY Activities @ your library There’s always something to do at the library, including DIY (do-it-yourself) activities that you can enjoy anytime you visit. Informal activities can appeal to children of all ages and may be ongoing or spontaneous. They offer wonderful ways to discover, create, explore and interact, all while in the comfort of your community library.

Tuesday, April 18 | MDV Branch | 6:45 - 7:45 pm Ages 6 - 12 Finally - program designed for the artistically challenged! Love art but can't paint like Van Gogh? Create beautiful canvases without using a traditional paint brush. Participants will use a variety of common household items as their paint brush.
