A TRIP TO HEAVEN: KASHMIR
Kashmir (Kashmiri: کِٔشیر / कॅशीर; Hindi: कश्मीर; Urdu: کشمیر; Shina: کشمیر), spelled Cashmere, is the northwestern region of South Asia. Until the mid-19th century, the term Kashmir geographically denoted only the valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range. Today, it denotes a larger area that includes the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir (which consists of Jammu, the Kashmir Valley, and Ladakh), the Pakistan-administered autonomous territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit–Baltistan, and the Chinese-administered regions of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract.
J&K Tourism
The Department of Tourism, Its main role comprises of:· Overall planning and execution of schemes for the development, up-gradation and improvement of the tourism infrastructure in different parts of the State.
Support to the private sector industry in the form of incentives for setting up various tourist facilities as well as for promotion and marketing of their products and services.
Promotion and marketing of various tourist destinations and products of the State.
Tradition & Culture
Kashmir as traditional craftsmen have skills that are passed down from one generation to the next in a tradition that has survived thousands of years. Hand-knotted carpets in silk, wool or a combination of yarns bear floral designs and exquisite patterns with a strong Persian influence
Other handicrafts of the region include papier-mâché objects painted with gold leaf and natural colours, basketry, carved wooden furniture made from the walnut wood and beaten silver and copper ware.
The Beauty Is Spellbound
Set like a jewelled crown on the map of India, Kashmir is a multi-faceted diamond, changing its hues with the seasons - always
extravagantly beautiful.
Two major Himalayan ranges, the Great Himalayan Range and
the Pir Panjal, surround the landscape from the north and
south respectively. They are the source of great rivers, which flow down into the valleys, forested with orchards and
decorated by lily-laden lakes.
Srinagar..Redefines Beauty
The blessing of Prophet Mohammad from Hazratbal Shrine and Jama Masjid, the divinity of Shankarcharya temple, glimpse of floating vegetable market and the bountiful flora and fauna, all honour the capital city with a title of Paradise on Earth. Srinagar also renders great options for activities like bird watching (Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary) water skiing (Dal Lake, Nagin Lake and Bod-dal), golfing (Kashmir Golf Course), trekking (towards Pir Panjal, 89 kms from Srinagar) and boating (Shikara ride on Dal Lake and Nagin Lake) and thus makes holidays in Jammu & Kashmir a successful expedition.
The capital city Srinagar is the prized possession of the Vale of Kashmir. Imbibing many colors of the state, it reflects the authentic Jammu & Kashmir.
The canopied Shikara boats, plush houseboats, snow-capped mountains and the sparkling water of Dal and Nageen Lake come together to bring the picture of authentic Srinagar come alive.
