REGARDING THIS PROGRAM!!

MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY

A Unique Opportunity to change a senior’s life...Managing our money

will enable us to be stress free, Independent and safe from Exploitation.

The Money Management Program was developed to assist low-income elders who have difficulty writing checks,

balancing checkbooks and managing money. Some of these elders may be homebound, visually impaired,

confused, and without family nearby to help. The day-to-day operation of the program is managed by Coastline

Elder Services, with the purpose being to provide assistance to elders who might be at risk of losing their

independence due to their inability to pay basic rent, food, and utility bills on time. A trained, insured, supervised

volunteer is carefully matched one-on-one with an elder needing assistance. The volunteer goes to the elder’s

home at least monthly to help keep track of income and expenses. Volunteers are urgently needed to provide this

unique, essential service, a lifetime for many low-income seniors. Please call Natacha Salemme for more

information at (508) 742-9113 or email [email protected].

Adverse Weather Cancella0on Policy!

If Taunton Public schools are closed due to inclement weather, then all

programs and acvies at the senior center will be cancelled. If the schools

have a delayed start or early dismissal, all programs will be held as !scheduled. If the Mayor closes City Hall Offices, then programs are !

cancelled and our office will be closed.

Did you know that we have a

Congregate meal site here at

the senior center? Call Bristol

Elder Service nutrition

department at (508) 324-4619

for more information.

Try this proven way to avoid a painful

splat on the ice: Walk like a penguin.

The waddle keeps your center of

gravity over your front leg and will

help keep you upright. Spread your feet

out slightly and keep your hands out of

your pockets, to increase your center of

gravity, and take small steps. You need

your arms for balance.

In my youth, holidays with my parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and close

friends were always full of laughs and friendly discussions, a bounty of sweet treats and the sharing

of gifts. These memories I hold dear. At this time of year, I ask you to remember those who are less

fortunate by sharing a smile, a conversation, a delicious treat or a token of friendship to make

everyone’s holiday a happy one. On behalf of the Board and Staff of the Department of

Human Services/Taunton Council on Aging, I would like to wish everyone a

Happy and Healthy Holiday season!
