www.Bar-W.org a TFRW Award-Winning Newsletter!
A fter any big event
or milestone or
culmination of long, hard work,
it’s natural for one to feel a let-
down. After all, expectations are met, the focus is
broken and the objective is accomplished. That feeling
of ‘now what?’ seems to take over, or, for some, a
new event or milestone looms and the pace starts
again. Either way, the focus shifts.
Having talked with a number of people over the
past couple of months, it seems that many
communities and clubs in Texas are in the ‘now
what?’ mode. I’ve heard numerous reports (and
complaints) about low attendance at political meetings
and rallies and events. A lot of people are putting
politics on the back burner. They forget that our
highly successful elections in November 2014 were
not the result of a few weeks’ or months’ focused
energy. It took hard work on the citizens’ part to gain
knowledge about issues and candidates and make
decisions on how to vote and who to vote for. That
takes work and a solid commitment to the future of
our communities, State and Nation.
Hearing these reports and complaints, I have felt
like somewhat of an outsider. I can offer sympathy but
not empathy. I can’t join in their complaints because I
would have to be untruthful, but I can’t in all fairness
tell them about Bar-W because that would sound like
bragging!
Yes, I am very proud of the Bar-W Members. Our
attendance at meetings, where we have such
informative and engaging speakers, is up; our
membership has increased by over 30 within the last
30 days; we are steadily gathering knowledge and
actively involved in shaping our future. Bar-W
members are engaged and informed. I am blessed to
be a part of such a group of people. You care about
the future, you know it takes work to get it right and
you don’t stop! The 2016 Presidential elections are
perhaps the most important elections our country will
ever have. I’m confident that Bar-W members will do
their part to exercise their POWER OF ONE!

We did it all! From the pre-Legislative Day
Belles and Boots Ball to the trip to the
Governor’s mansion, Bar-W members participated in
all the events and
fellowship offered by
TFRW on Wednesday
and Thursday, April
15th and 16th. We
organized greeters and
helpers, volunteered to
help out wherever we
could, and still got to
be in the House and
Senate Chambers for
the Resolutions
honoring TFRW and
all the organization
does for Texas! The
luncheon featured a fabulous line-up of speakers,
including Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Patrick,
Attorney General Paxton, Comptroller Hager…the list
goes on. The workshops
were well attended and
very informative,
especially one on Border
Security. One of the
highlights of the trip for
me was the visit with
our Texas Governor and
First Lady at the
Governor’s mansion.
We are blessed with
excellent, gracious and
conservative leadership
in our State!
And thank you to
Diane Zornow, Linda Bartle, and Geri Ray for helping
me, Barbara Racinowski, Belinda Frisk, Patty Johnson,
and the TFRW office staff to get all those hundreds of
ladies checked in and badged! We work well together!
Great trip, great information, and a great time with our
fellow TFRW Club friends!

CHAPLAIN’S CHAT By: Diane Zornow, Chaplain
THE POWER OF ONE
T he One is Jesus. He is
the all-powerful One.
But there is also power in one's
story or testimony of an
encounter with Jesus. Your
salvation story or miraculous
event can impact one other
person and their story can
continue to impact others
multiplied by many more.
The One who has all power
to change hearts and minds is
ready for you to share the Good
News of Jesus and His free gift
of salvation to at least one
person. It will change their life
forever. The power of just one
testimony to one person can
impact entire families and
change their spiritual and natural
destiny.
There is also power in one
vote. Taking a stand for Jesus in
the voting booth can also change
lives. Take a stand...vote! Take
a stand...share your testimony!
What is your story? Has the
One who died for you changed
your life in any way? Have you
shared your story with anyone?
Do you vote? Why not? One
testimony, one person, one vote,
One Jesus...equals a changed
life. That is the Power of One!

AMERICA...WAKE UP! REMINDER—NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
MAY 7, 2015 By: Linda Bartle and Diane Zornow
T he theme for the 64th annual NDP is from 1 Kings 8:28 "...Lord
Hear Our Cry." NDP Chairman, Mrs. Shirley Dobson, reminds us:
"We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been
asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual
National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too." It is
time for America to wake up!
Pastors in the area have joined together to host a local observance of
NDP. It will be held at the Bulverde Baptist Church at 1331 Bulverde
Road; Bulverde, TX 78163 at 7:00pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

BAR-W ON THE WEB – THE DICTIONARY PROJECT ARTICLE! By: Kaci Poindexter, President
T he Dictionary Project, from
whom organizations across
the country order dictionaries for
school children, has publicized
Bar-W’s support
to our local third-
graders with a
very large write-
up on their home
page. Thank you,
Fran Carlson,
dedicated Literacy
Chairman, for the
work that you do to support
Bar-W’s community projects!
And if you want to support our
local third-graders by buying a box
of dictionaries, contact Fran at

Personalized Dictionaries from
the Bulverde Area Republican
Women, Texas The Bulverde Area Republican
Women have sponsored schools in
Texas for over ten years now. Their
project has grown from a couple of
schools to over 725 students in
eight elementary schools in the
Comal Independent School District.
This area, encompassing both
Comal and Bexar Counties (San
Antonio area), is one of the fastest
growing communities in the nation.
Because of the ever-increasing
number of dictionaries needed each
year, the Bulverde Area Republican
Women solicit specific
contributions from their members.
Members have the opportunity to
purchase a box of dictionaries, sign
each book and write a personal
message of encouragement. The
dictionaries are hand delivered to
each classroom and members give
the students a brief presentation
about the significance of owning a
dictionary.
“The best part is when each
student opens their dictionary and
reads their message – they
absolutely love it!” said member
Fran Carlson. “This project is
indeed a unique opportunity for our
Club to interact with students, their
teachers and their families and
provide a valuable tool for their
education. Everyone is appreciative
of our efforts and we have received
countless letters, e-mails and verbal
expressions of appreciation
throughout the years.”

THE FIRST 100 DAYS… By: Nancy Lewis, Publicity Chairman
A ttorney General Ken Paxton was greeted
with anticipation by a crowd of almost
200 at our 13th Annual Membership Reception.
His presentation held our attention, gave us facts
and very welcome information on his first 100
days in office. When he was sworn in by
Governor Greg Abbot, the Governor told him he
would be the busiest Attorney General in the
history of Texas. Given what General Paxton and
his staff of 800 attorneys have accomplished,
Governor Abbott’s statement seems to have been
prophetic. General Paxton has undertaken legal
actions which will have far reaching
consequences for Texas and the rest of the nation.
During the first three weeks in office, General
Paxton’s team argued twice in front of the Fifth
Circuit Court of Appeals on issues such as
defending marriage and a pro-life bill. The team
was in Brownsville, arguing immigration law.
This resulted in a Brownsville judge issuing a
preliminary injunction staying President Obama’s
Executive Order (EO) granting legal status to
illegal immigrants. The AG’s team represented
Texas at the Supreme Court, defending state law
as it relates to low income housing.
Another accomplishment was the filing of a
law suit challenging the Obama Administration’s
change in the definition of spouse under the
Family and Medical Leave Act to include same-
sex partner. General Paxton’s team filed this suit
in Wichita Falls and it will be argued there during
the summer, something he believes the Federal
attorneys should find particularly enjoyable. Most
significant of all the cases is King vs Burwell
which challenges the state exchange aspect of the
Affordable Care Act.
General Paxton indicated it was very possible
his office would file suits against the
Environmental Protection Agency, as the Federal
government is unhappy with our state’s success
and has made Texas a target over control of our
water and power plants.
It is apparent the State of Texas is blessed
with a gifted Attorney General and that he has
assembled a team of talented and dedicated
attorneys. However, their efforts will be in vain if
we are unable to maintain a conservative presence
among the judges who hear these cases. General
Paxton concluded his presentation by emphasizing
the critical importance of the upcoming
Presidential election. As he stated, we cannot
afford four more years of a liberal President
appointing liberal judges. In a presentation filled
with valuable information that was perhaps the
single most significant statement made by the
Attorney General. It is up to we the people to
heed this warning.

A HUGE thank you
to all of the
dedicated members of Bar-
W who participated in our
13th Annual Membership
Reception! It was a HUGE
success! The food was
mouthwatering, from Dora’s
Caterall BBQ brisket, to the
array of delicious salads and
desserts donated by the
great cooks of Bar-W! Thank you,
thank you to Krista Dalton and her
dedicated crew of kitchen
volunteers: James Dalton, Randy
Becker, Geri Becker, Bobbie
Koepp, Ina White, Rhonda Geiwitz,
Kurt Geiwitz, Mary Catherine Cole,
and Dora and her catering crew!
What a great job!
Hazel Roman designed our
beautiful programs, and Rhonda
Geiwitz made a special trip to New
Braunfels to pick them up and fold
them. Thank you, ladies!
And the decorations perfectly
reflected our second annual “Boots,
Brisket and Bluebonnets” theme --
the volunteers setting up and
decorating couldn’t have done a
better job. A special thanks to Geri
Ray for designing and
organizing the decorations,
and to volunteers Kurt
Geiwitz, Barry Martin,
Marta Dolan, Beth Moore,
Linda Bartle, Diane
Zornow, Cindy Payne, and
Lindy Sisk for spending
their afternoon helping to
set the stage for our wonderful
Membership Reception!
And to our money makers at the
back of the room, Renita Rabozzi
with Education donations, Geri Ray
with the silent auction and Patty
Avery with the fabulous boutique:
great job and thank you!
Dale Wilkens took some
awesome pictures, as usual, and we
thank him for his continued
excellence and volunteer work for
Bar-W.
And our Greeters and
Membership Committee
helpers! As always, our
volunteers made a huge
impression on our members
and guests with their
efficiency, smiles, and
excellent representation of
Bar-W! Thank you -VP
Cindy Payne and her “crew”:
Nancy Lewis, Beth Moore, Julie
Sisk, Sherry Humphreys, Karen
Clevenger, Marsha Pastirik,
Terry Rogers, and Joan Pfeil-
Persyn.
The invocation by Pastor
Steve Coker, Tejas Cowboy
Church, was inspirational and
moving. The Smithson Valley
Junior ROTC color guard was
exceptionally good and our special
musical performance guest George
Ensle gave us a heart-felt and
beautiful rendition of the Star
Spangled Banner.
Thanks to everyone who
brought guests, we had so many
new members join! I hope one
and all had as much fun and got as
much great information from our
speaker as I did that evening!
A RESOUNDING SUCCESS! By: Kaci Poindexter, President
Thank you, Bar-W Members,
for all you do and have done for
Bar-W, the great State of Texas and
The United States of America.

G oing… going… GONE! Those were the words to describe all the
items at our Membership Reception Silent Auction! All the
wonderful items donated by our members were GONE by the end of the
evening. Variety and quality—from large pieces of art, to jewelry,
accessories, gift certificates, wine baskets and everything in between, there
was something for just about everyone to bid on. Once again, our Bar-W
members stepped up to the plate and donated fantastic items and then turned
around and bid generously. Thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing
to make our organization strong! And a
special thank you to Renita Rabozzi for
being a drop spot for collecting items and
to Geri Ray for organizing the auction
item donations and displaying them in
such a way as to entice our bidders to
donate generously and take them home!
SILENT AUCTION—GOING, GOING, GONE
O ur sincere appreciation goes to the Law
Office of Glenn A. Payne for the
generous donation to the Bar-W 13th Annual

donated a substantial amount of money to Bar-W
to offset a portion of the costs of the Reception.
Thank you, Glenn,
for your support and sponsorship!
