NEWSLETTER of the Eastern English Springer Spaniel Club
A Note from the President….
Dear Members,
I hope all is well with you and your wonderful springers. I can’t believe that fall and winter
weather are soon upon us. Now we can enjoy the colorful leave changes and beautiful snowfall as we
walk and exercise our springers.
The Supported Entries held at the Cape Cod Cluster were a great time. It was wonderful to see
new and current members competing. The table-gate was a great time with wonderful food, great
conversation and camaraderie among those who were there. Thank you to everyone for their contributions
and a special thanks to Mary Pechie for her wonderful set up of the food.
Congratulations to all winners and performance qualifiers. Your hard work and dedication to our
breed really shined through. It was wonderful to see such good sportsmanship among those who were
there.
Our biggest fundraiser is behind us. This agility trial too was a huge success. This is how we fund
our June specialties. I would like to give a big thank you to Sue Ellen and Pat Kearney for their hard work
and dedication to making this event such a successful and enjoyable time. All the exhibitors commented
on how our event is the most appreciated and liked in the region.
The next agility fundraiser for us will be on February 14 and 15, 2015, At American K-9 Country
in Amherst, NH. Please email Sue Ellen at [email protected] to let her know what day you will be
able to help.
The National is soon upon us. As you know it will be held in Missouri and I look forward to
seeing our Northeast Team represented.
Best regards,
John W. Healy, President

A REMINDER TO ALL EESSC MEMBERS
The next newsletter will be published the last week in November. The deadline for submission of
brags and articles is November 20th
. Please send in submissions as soon as possible to eliminate a
crunch here in putting everything together. We welcome any newsworthy articles related to the club or
Springers in general. Send in flyers for upcoming events and seminars or pictures that you think the
members would enjoy seeing. With pictures please send a narrative describing the pictures. .
We do have an OBITUARY column to keep our members informed of recent deaths and a NEW
LITTER column for you proud parents to show off your new babies. We are pretty open to ideas, so send
in your article and if we deem it to be newsworthy (nothing has ever been rejected) it will be printed.
With our members spread all over the country, it’s nice to hear about what’s going on in your neck of the
woods.

Agility Report
As you know, we held our annual Labor Day agility trials in No. Smithfield, RI, on August 30, August 31 and September 1, 2014. The show went off without a hitch and all the exhibitors were happy. We had folks at the show site on Friday setting up and getting courses in place for first thing on Saturday morning. On Monday afternoon, we had volunteers who stayed until late to help clean up and move equipment to the loading dock. Many EESSC members were present and most helpful. They were: Ruth Burgart, Marilou Clark, Doug Cox, Betsy Davis, Cheryl and Stephen Giampapa, Elaine Hatch, John Healy, Ed and Mi Mi Huntley, Pat Kearney, Dick Pechie, Lorena Clark Robinson, Maurene Walker, Susan Waterman, Barbara Webster and Julie Wolf. It was so nice to see so many step forward to better the Club! Thank you! Financially, we did well. We had less
entries but came away with a profit of just over $6,100. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and talents. Without the agility trials we would not have such wonderful Specialties in June. Respectfully submitted, Sue Ellen Healy EESSC Agility Chair

was addressed with the hotel. Blood draw had very low turn out. Raffle made approximately $1500.
iPad tickets were not totally sold. Rescue thanked us for including them in this year’s specialties. Betsy

Meeting adjourned at 11:15 am.
Ipad Air Winner
I am so grateful to have become the lucky winner of the iPad Air 16 GB which was finally raffled off
during the EESSC Agility Trials over Labor Day weekend. This was definitely worth the wait! The club
allowed me to order the color I wanted and had it custom engraved on the back for me which I had not
expected. The retina display is beautiful and the iPad is a joy to use. Many thanks to the club for doing a
raffle to fundraise for such an excellent cause and for offering this awesome prize!
Susan Waterman
We wish to thank all who supported this IPad raffle fundraiser! The proceeds are being contributed to a
disaster relief trainer for Dogs. Several of these trailers will be located around the country and sent to
areas in need for dogs when disaster hits. We will be running this fundraising raffle again in early 2015 to
raise the 2,500.00 that we wish to contribute to this worthy effort.
Congratulations again to Susan Waterman the lucky winner of the IPad Air!!!!!!
Warm regards,
Cheryl L. Giampapa
