A Study on Planning and Actual Condition about Hierarchy of Centres in Oxford UK

The aim of this study is to clarify the planning of hierarchy of centres in UK, the process of formation of them, and the actual condition and management of them. The conclusions are as follows. 1) The district centres were not constructed as planned, and the places where the shops were organically accumulated were designated as “District Centre” later. 2) At the district centres, the public transportations are integrated and there is mixed use of shops, a variety of facilities next to them. 3) The neighbourhood centres are the places where the daily goods are supplied.
