where she is shaping a new generation of leaders in her classes "Gender-Based Discrimination” and
“Leadership in America." She also writes and travels
extensively, speaking on the development of
leadership skills, and is currently working on her next book on the topic of leadership and self-renewal.
FRIDAY’S FUN NIGHT will find us “Dancing with the
Stars” as the Catdaddies of Dallas entertain
us. Formed in 1998, the Catdaddies have
evolved from a garage band into—as they
put it—a better garage band. They cover
everything from the Beatles to the Rolling
Stones to some of the more eclectic acts of
the ’60 and ’early 70s—the kind of music
that makes you want to boogie! So bring
your boogie shoes and join us Friday night
for a memorable time of dancing, fun, and
merriment to boot.
To Club Presidents
If your ASTRA members are interested in
participating in District Conference, we
would like to invite them to join us on
Saturday afternoon to help count, sort,

Conference Service Project benefiting
Attitudes & AttireTM. We would also
welcome them to attend any of the
scheduled afternoon
workshops.

CONFERENCE SERVICE PROJECT TO BENEFIT ATTITUDES & ATTIRETM
This year’s service project is an
accessories drive for
Attitudes & AttireTM, a
nonprofit agency
dedicated to serving
women who are
striving to succeed. The
women using this agency are typically single
mothers with very little personal or financial
support. Many are receiving public assistance
while others are in the category of the working
poor. They are diverse in age, education,
ethnicity, and goals. These women, due to a
variety of issues including abuse, generational
poverty, addiction, and physical disabilities, are
now seeking tools to raise self-esteem, promote
ethics, and build confidence necessary to
succeed in the workplace.
Want to know how can you participate? Start
by organizing a collection drive for accessories—
gently used, sharp, stylish jewelry, handbags,
and scarves along with new pantyhose (any size
or skin tone). The items we collect will be used
for client dressings, where each client receives
one suit, a coordinating blouse, a scarf, a
handbag, jewelry, and pantyhose on their initial
visit after attending a job workshop. After 30
days, the ladies are invited to select a second
outfit, and when she has been employed full-
time for 60 days, a third outfit is provided. So
clean out your closet, your drawers, and jewelry
chest, and bring your gently used accessories to
Dallas.
All donations must be
appropriate for the
workplace as well as
cleaned and free of odors.
Let’s see how many boxes
we can fill with jewelry,
handbags, scarves, and new
pantyhose for these deserving
women at Attitudes & AttireTM.
