Pharmexcil delegation visited Bangkok during 21-23 March 2016 and in collaboration with Embassy of India Bangkok organized a Seminar on “Pharma Industry in India & Thailand-Opportunities Challenges” followed by “One to One Business Meetings” at Pullman Grande Hotel, Bangkok on 21 March 2016. Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, addressed the seminar and talked about the strengths of India Pharma industry and its role in providing affordable medicines globally. Mr. Bhaskar, Addl. Executive Director Pharmexcil gave presentation on Indian Pharmaceutical Industry. major importers of medicines from India and other countries. During the meeting

procurement division shown interest to source medical devices and herbals from the

participant companies.

A 25 members Capexil delegation visited Bangkok and in collaboration with Embassy of India

Bangkok organized a Seminar on “Indian Chemical and Allied Sector and opportunities of

collaborations with Thailand” at Pullman Grande Hotel, Bangkok on 29 April 2016. The seminar was

followed by B2B with Thai partners which was attended by representatives of Chemical club of

Federations of Thai Industries, Thai Chamber of Commerce, Indo-Thai Chamber of Commerce and

Indo-Thai Business Association. Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India,

addressed the seminar and talked about possible area of enhancement of Indo-Thai collaborations in

the Allied Chemical sector. Mr. R.D. Khimsera gave presentation on behalf of the Chemical club of

Federation of Thai Industries. Mr. C.M. Dayanandan, Deputy Director, Capexil and Leader of

delegation made a comprehensive presentation on opportunities available in Allied Chemical sector

and benefits of collaborations to Thai participants. 35 Thai Industrialists/representatives making

Paint & Coating Products, Rubber Manufactured Goods, Auto Tyre and Tubes products, Paper &

Stationary products in Thailand attended the seminar and the B2B.

PHD Chamber participated in THAIFEX-WORLD OF FOOD ASIA EXPO, 25-29 MAY 2016 at

Impact Exhibition Centre, Bangkok, Thailand- Asia’s leading annual food and hospitality show. This

one-stop food exhibition featured latest food producing technologies, food safety standards, related

businesses and services, as well as, a most fascinating culinary experience from the world of food.

PHD organized an impressive ‘India Pavilion’ in the expo in which 48 Indian companies participated.

Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, graciously presided over the opening

ceremony together with Commerce Minister of Thailand, Mrs. Apiradi Tantraporn. The India Pavilion

was inaugurated by Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Deputy Chief of Mission of India. The commercial wing of

the Embassy used the opportunity to brand Make in India by placing standees and distributing

booklets. The 13th edition of THAIFEX-was the largest and most impactful show yet, attracting a

total of 42,528 trade visitors – a 21% increase from 35,205 in 2015 and 1,919 exhibitors from 40

countries. The expo was spread over 80,000 sq mt. Specialist shows within THAIFEX included World

of Seafood, World of Coffee & Tea and World of Food Service. The initial feedback from the Indian

companies which participated under India Pavilion has been very encouraging as they received god

number of business enquires during the expo. Prominent Indian Exhibitors included – Bikaji Foods

International Ltd., GCMMF (Amul), VRS Foods Ltd.(Paras Dairy), Greendot Health Foods Ltd

(Cornitos), Holista Transworld Ltd, Omar International Pvt Ltd, Trimax International, Pahal Food Exim

Embassy of India, Bangkok and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India organized India

Global Tourism Mart Road Show on 29.07.2016 between 6.00 to 9.00 pm at Hotel Pullman,

Sukhumvit, Bangkok. The objective of the Road was to publicize and promote the “India Global

Tourism Mart” being organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India at New Delhi in the

month of Feb 2017. The event was attended by local tour operators from Bangkok. Ms. Meenakshi

Sharma Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India represented Ministry

of Tourism, Govt. of India and given a presentation regarding the summit and had interaction with

the participants. The event was also graced by Mr. A. Ramu, Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Naveen

Saxena, Head of Chancery and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Second Secretary (commerce) from Embassy of

A five-member Delegation from Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) visited

The Embassy of India, Bangkok organized a seminar on “Make in India” at Hotel Wangtai,

Surat Thani in Thailand’s southern province of Surat Thani on 5th October 2016 in collaboration with

the Surat Thani Chapter of Federation of Thai Industries and Surat Thani Chamber of Commerce. The

DCM Mr. Abbagani Ramu gave the opening remarks and focused on the prospects of strengthening

The Embassy of India, Bangkok organized a seminar on “Prospect of enhanced collaboration

between India & Thailand in IT & IT enabled products & Services” at Hotel Holiday Inn Sukhumvit,

Bangkok on 18th November 2016 in collaboration with The National Association of Software and

Services Companies (NASSCOM), India and Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Thailand.

The event was attended by 11 Thai companies and 24 Indian companies based in Thailand.

NASSCOM was represented by Mr. Shivendra Singh, VP Global Trade Development, NASSCOM, India.

SIPA was represented by its Expert Officer Mr. Virat Puengsara. Thai Government side was

represented by Dr. C. Kalyanmitra, Advisor to Thai Govt. Computer Committee. The IT seminar

provided the opportunity to Thai participants to have glimpses of best of India in the area of IT and

ITES. There was also a perceptible interest amongst the participants to explore the possibilities of

initiatives of the Indian Government under “Make in India” at the Le Meridian Hotel in Chiang Mai

on 14th December 2016 in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Chapter of Federation of Thai

Industries and Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce. The event was attended by more than 80 Thai

businessmen including a group of young entrepreneurs. Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Deputy Chief of

Mission, Embassy of India, Bangkok made a detailed presentation on the recent initiatives of

Government of India under ‘Make in India’ and also on “Ease of doing business with India' for the

Thai Entrepreneurs. The Chiangmai Chapter of Federation of Thai Industries was represented by Mr.

Smith Taweelerdnithi, Deputy Secretary General and other 10 members. The Chairman, Deputy

Chairman and other members of Chiangmai Chamber of Commerce also participated. Sharing

experiences and suggesting ways to expand tourism between the two countries, Khun Nalinthorn

Dhammasiriboon, Chairman, DBS Foundation and Under the Patronage of her Royal Excellency Mom

Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura spoke on improvisation of facilities and expansion of traditional

Buddhist circuit of tourism in India.

Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Abbagani Ramu accompanies by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Second Secretary

(E&C) and Mr. Shishir Jain, Consul and Head of Post, Chiangmai called on Mr. Prajuab Kantiya, Vice

Governor of Chiang Mai and apprised him of the prospects of doing business with India and

promotion of India as destination of tourism among Thai nationals for balanced and economical

tourism between India and Thailand. The Governor showed a keen interest in the “Make in India”

initiative and assured the Mission delegation that he would contribute to promoting business with

India and also help in quick formalization recent agreements signed between India and Thailand on

Thani organized a seminar on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start up India’ on Saturday 11 February 2017. The

seminar was attended by more than 200 students, educationists and representatives of industry.

The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India, Bangkok Mr. Abbagani Ramu made the opening

remark and gave a detailed presentation on Government of India flagship program on ‘Make in

India’ and explained how this initiative is providing ample opportunities for investors to access the

huge Indian market. Dr. Sanjay Kumar SS(E&C) and Commercial Representative of Embassy of India,

Bangkok made presentations on ‘Start up India’ and how the new policy handholds and guides a new

entrepreneur / innovator through a special mechanism like Startup Hub, creation of a Fund of Funds

and simplification of procedure. A large no of participants were Indian students studying at Asian

Institute of Technology, who enthusiastically participated in the post seminar question answers.

Earlier welcoming the team of the Embassy of India, Bangkok and the participants, Professor Worsak

Kanok Nukulchai, President of the AIT emphasized the need of organizing such events at AIT on a

regular basis as more than 30 percent of its total students are from India. The President thanked Mr.

Abbagani Ramu the DCM and Professor Nitin Kumar Tripathi, the Director of Special degree program

of the AIT.

In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the various government of India policies which

have greatly simplified the ‘Ease of doing business of India’ including the recent

liberalization in visa policy, under which getting visa for India including 5 year

Business/Tourist visa has become easier and faster. Mr. Abbagani Ramu made a detailed

presentation on ‘Make in India’ before the members of JFCCT, which is the umbrella body

for various Thai- foreign chambers or business associations operating in Thailand having 40

chambers and business associations representing more than 9,000 companies.

Embassy of India, Bangkok in collaboration with Federation of Thai Industries

organized a Make in India Seminar focused on Madhya Pradesh on 20-21 March, 2017 at

Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok. A delegation led by Principle Secretary

to Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh visited Bangkok during 20-21 March,2017 for Make in

India Seminar. During the seminar, opening Remarks were made by Mr. Bhagwant Singh

Bishnoi, Ambassador of India to Thailand followed by remarks of Mr. Chen Namchaisiri,

Chairman, The Federation of Thai Industries. Madhya Pradesh Government representative

made a presentation on the investment opportunities available in Madhya Pradesh. Around

50 Businessmen and industry people of Thailand Participated in the event. The Embassy also

used this opportunity to brief the Thai participants on the various initiatives of the

Government of India under “Make in India” programme. Delegation also visited Rayong

Province for the industrial visit. Delegation also met with the Industry Minister of Thailand.

On 20 March, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Thanawat Koomsin, President of Thai

Automotive Industry Association. The delegation called on H.E. Dr. Uttama Savanayana,

Minister of Industry of Thailand and had a meeting with members of Automotive

Association of Thailand.

Chantaranimi, Hon’ble vice Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima appreciated the efforts of

Embassy to connect with the Trade and Industries of Ratchasima and called for greater

interaction between the business community of the two countries. The Federation of Thai

Industries was represented by its Chairman Mr. Paisit Pitisongswat, Chairman, Ratchasima

chapter and other 15 members. Ratchasima Chamber of Commerce was represented by its

Chairman Mr. Chadchavan Wongjohn. A strong contingent of 40 members of Federation of

SMEs from Ratchasima also participated in the event. During the event a presentation on

‘Incredible India’ showcasing ‘India tourism’ in general and the ‘Buddhist circuit of tourism’

was also made. On 3rd May 2017, the delegation also called on the Vice Governor and had a

meeting with Director, TAT, Chairman, Ratchasima Chapter of FTI and Chairman, Ratchasima

Visit of a delegation led by Karnataka Minister Mr R.V Deshpande to Bangkok for the investment promotion. Embassy has organized a seminar on investment opportunities in Karnataka in collaboration with the Federation of the Thai Industries at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok on 15th May,2017. Mr. B. S. Bishnoi, Ambassador of India in Thailand, Mr. Chokedee, Kaewsang, Deputy Secretary General, Board of Investment of Thailand and Mr. Ashok Upadhyay, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Thai Industries and the Chairperson of the Chemical Industry Club attended the seminar. Around 100 participants from different sector viz textiles, food processing, automobile, hospitality etc. attended the seminar. Also, Karnataka Minister met with the prominent companies and government sectors of Thailand. During the visit Mr. R.V. Deshpande, Minister of Large & Medium Industries, Government of Karnataka also met with Mr. Panuwat Triyangkoonsri DDG, D/o Industrial Promotion of Government of Thailand. BIMSTEC 20th Anniversary celebration was held on 26th of May 2017, at ‘Sasa International House’, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Commercial Wing of the Indian embassy set up a booth showcasing brochures of Incredible India, Make in India, ongoing Indian cultural events and Sawasdee India etc. Other BIMSTEC member countries viz Sri lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Myanmar also participated. Indian Embassy also briefed about the upcoming International yoga day and registered new participants offering T-shirts of yoga day and incredible India. More than 50 persons visited the booth and most of them registered for their participation in yoga day event on 18th June 2017.

3rd International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the prestigious Chulalongkorn University Playgrounds in Bangkok on Sunday, 18 June, 2017 by Embassy of India. Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand H.E. Tanasak Patimapragorn graced the occasion by his participation as the Chief Guest. Ambassador H.E. Bhagwant Singh Bishnoi delivered the welcome remarks. Ambassadors & representative of many embassies in Thailand also attended the yoga event. Mass Yoga Session was coordinated by Mr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi and Ms. Jiraporn of Divine Yoga, along with their team of Yoga volunteer teachers. During the event commercial wing of the mission set up a booth to showcase Government of India’s initiative viz ‘Make in India & Tourism, Incredible India etc. Audience showed a keen interest to this booth and collected the materials on make in India, tourism etc.

Embassy of India organized a seminar on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start up India’ on

Thursday 27 June 2017. The seminar was attended by more than 150 students,

educationists and representatives of the industry. Mr. Ramesh Pokharial ‘Nishank’, Member

of Parliament (LS) & Ex Chief Minister of Uttaranchal was the Chief Guest of the event and

also motivated the students. Dr. Sanjay Kumar SS(E&C) and Commercial Representative of

Embassy of India, Bangkok made a detailed presentation on Government of India flagship

program ‘Make in India’ and explained how this initiative is providing ample opportunities

for investors to access the huge Indian market. He also made a presentation on ‘Start up

India’ and explained to the audience as to how the new policy handhold and guide a new

entrepreneur / innovator through a special mechanism like Startup Hub, creation of a Fund

of Funds and simplification of procedure. The students enthusiastically participated in the

post seminar question answers, a large no of whom had come from India to attend summer

innovation workshop organized by the Asian Institute of Technology.
