Meninas Madrid Gallery is an urban exhibition comprised by
80 sculptures with a Menina shape that artists, designers and
other celebrities have modified with their interpretation of
what Madrid means to them. The sculptures – with a 1.80m
height – will be on display in the city’s most emblematic
spots. Antonio Azzato is the artista that has designed them
aiming at modifying the “Menina” concept that the
traditional observer has, paying a tribute to the diversity of
thought just like Velázquez claimed in his work.
Gran Meliá represents the Spanish luxury – over rythm,
time and space, enjoy the little pleasures
connected with the nature, the value of the work well done.
Gran Meliá supports this type of artistic initiatives that
Pretend raise up the turistic destinations in a cultural level.

El Baile de las Meninas
In order to present Meninas Madrid
Gallery accordingly,
a party was held with a "cocktail" at Gran
Meliá Palacio
de los Duques and had the purpose of
officially announcing
the project. In addition, the event
functioned as an exchange
between the artists, the invited press,
celebrities,
the organization of the project and the
Gran Meliá brand.

La Herencia de Velázquez, is a unique and unprecedented exhibition along Madrid City Center. Inspired by Gran Meliá
Palacio de los Duques, Velazquez’s Meninas dress the Capital as the same time as they are integrated with all citizens and
visitors in the largest outdoor exhibition in the world. Every one of them are reinterpreted with the inspiration that Madrid
evokes in the different artists, such as Manolo Blanik, Alejandro Sanz, Marta Azas…
Meninas Madrid Gallery presented this initiative on the 24th of June and reflected its elegance, traditional and forward-
looking essence celebrating an exclusive, luxurious and sophisticated ball hosted in Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques.

The gastronomic journey begins with a fresh burrata with touches of roasted pepper and tomato powder;
representing the colors of the painter's palette through the coulis of red, yellow and green peppers that also carry
the aroma of Diego Velázquez's hometown, orange blossom.
The main course, the honeyed rice, makes tribute to the hunting ... very frequent in the palaces of the Golden Age.
To finish, the kitchen teams have wanted to symbolize the food of the working class of the era: bread and wine,
with a typical dessert from Madrid, the crumble of pears with wine and cheese foam.
Guests will enjoy the bread on a painter palette and it will be accompanied by virgin olive oil from the Castle of
Canena.
