Why did we choose this spot? We selected this spot because it shows you a part of the school, and the Chinese Tea House where we sometimes sit at lunch time or recess time, so it is a happy place for us.We also chose this spot because you can see our flag poles on which we fly the Australian flag, the Aboriginal flag or the Victorian flag. We also chose this spot because hopefully there are some seasonal changes which will be obvious as the project gets going.

What change can you expect to see? This photo shows the winter neglect of our garden beds (because it has been way too wet and cold to get out into the garden) and the messy lawns – because it has been too wet to get a lawn mower onto the grass. Hopefully you will see a much tidier garden and neater lawns in the next few photos. You can also expect to see blossom on the trees, daffodils in the garden bed and roses on the bushes. You may even see some children playing in the yard as the sun comes out.

Why this spot?

Cockatoos in our yard.

What’s happening around Hawkesdale?

• It is very muddy at the moment because of regular rain.

•It is lambing season on the farms. This means that lambs are being born.

•It also means that it is lamb marking time. This is rather grisly. The farmers chop off the lamb’s tail and then puts rings around the testes of the male lambs so that they do not grow into rams. The male lambs are then called weathers and the female sheep are called ewes.

•The local Aussie rules football / netball competition is heading towards finals.

•We are counting down until our Melbourne Camp next week. We are leaving on Wednesday 27th August and coming back on the 29th August.

•Blossom trees are in bud and we are anxiously awaiting the warmer weather of Spring.

•Hawkesdale is getting a new shop. It is going to sell motors and equipment for motor boats and motorbikes.

•Father’s day is coming up in September.
