Objectives

To measure width and depth and calculate CSA ( cross sectional area )

To measure velocityTo check bedload, shape and sizeTo observe both sites and take field notes Draw sketches

What we did ?Cross Section Of River Channel Using a measuring tape across from waters

edge to the other side of river. Record results.Using a measuring stick measure the depth of

the river at 5 places across the river channel. Twice at each bank and once in the middle. Record results.

Velocity/Speed Of The River2 members of the group went into the river

and stood approximately 5 metres apart. One person releases a tennis ball into the

river while the other member on the bank records the length of time with a stopwatch, it takes the ball to float from one person to the other.

Record the result .This is done twice across the river.

Load, Size & Shape

Using rubber gloves at 4/5 points across the river reach in and pick up the first pebble you touch.

Using chart for roundess of pebbles classify each pebble accordingly.

Record results.
