I was lucky enough to catch up with both May and Mr Milner in the week leading up to the big event. The exchange was heated. May Ou set the tone for her preparation week “history repeats, I’ve already won against him two or three times, even though he denies it every time. He also owes me food”. Mr Milner was unimpressed with May’s confidence. “I won’t be making and emotional comments at this time, I just want to focus on my preparation”. Whilst he wanted this to be his official pre-match statement, I overheard him tell May (as he be- grudgingly handed over a Snickers bar and manda- rin—a Milner always pays his debts) ’Until then (the match) don’t look at me, don’t speak to me.. Un- less it’s about school”. The Match: Three sets weren’t even needed. After an intense beginning, May put Mr Milner away pretty quickly. May winning 21-17, 21-12. The Aftermath: “If I didn't like him, I’d say that he put the ‘bad’ in badminton”. “I was beaten by a better opponent. I think the turning point was at 17 all when I failed to even hit the service box and it all went downhill from there. But I’ll be back. Champions always come back”. In front of a roaring crowd of approximately

three people, May Ou and Mr Milner finally

put to rest the pressing question— ‘who is

the better badminton player’.

The Back Story:

Over her years at Fairhills May has chal-

lenged Mr Milner to several games of bad-

minton. They both refuse to admit that they

lost any of these games.

So they set a grudge match.

I was lucky enough to catch up with both

May and Mr Milner in the week leading up

to the big event. The exchange was heated.

May Ou set the tone for her preparation

week “history repeats, I’ve already won

against him two or three times, even

though he denies it every time. He also

owes me food”. Mr Milner was unimpressed

with May’s confidence.

“I won’t be making and emotional comments at

this time, I just want to focus on my preparation”.

Whilst he wanted this to be his official pre-match

statement, I overheard him tell May (as he be-

grudgingly handed over a Snickers bar and manda-

rin—a Milner always pays his debts) ’Until then (the

match) don’t look at me, don’t speak to me.. Un-

less it’s about school”.

The Match:

Three sets weren’t even needed. After an intense

beginning, May put Mr Milner away pretty quickly.

May winning 21-17, 21-12.

The Aftermath:

“If I didn't like him, I’d say that he put the ‘bad’ in

badminton”.

“I was beaten by a better opponent. I think the

turning point was at 17 all when I failed to even hit

the service box and it all went downhill from there.

But I’ll be back. Champions always come back”.

netball, badminton, soccer, footy and basketball.

Special congratulations to the senior girls basket-

ball team who won the district competition and are

heading off to Eastern Zone in term three!

We have been really proud of the determination

and sportsmanship displayed by all students rep-

resenting Fairhills so far this year. It’s fantastic to

see you all supporting each other, keep it up!

HEALTH NEWS

Year 10 Health students attended a session at the Knox

Youth Centre. It’s so beneficial for students to find out what

free health resources are available to them. All students

represented Fairhills to their usual high standard, asked

great questions and took advantage of this awesome op-

portunity.

Reminder: Year 7, 8 and 9 Health is run as part of the Phys-

ical Education curriculum. Your health period runs every

second week, make sure you bring the appropriate materi-

als to health class (workbook, pens, laptop).
