Thank You! With great appreciation,

MICHAEL KATZEXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

ANNA GOULDFOUNDER, BOARD CHAIR

We are pleased and honored to share with you that our 35th Anniversary year was an amazing success! For over three and a half decades, with your help we have served over 50,000 family members from all 50 states and 27 different countries. In 2019 alone, 730 families joined us from 43 states and 8 countries to experience the “Sunshine”. For these families it was a needed opportunity to re-group, re-energize and simply be with a group of families that “get it”.

This milestone year proved to be a busy one! With your generous support and contributions we hosted 22 camp sessions, opened our much anticipated Isobel & Bruce Cleland Lakefront Clubhouse and renovated and enhanced the Charette Gazebo (the first building ever constructed at camp). Parents commented on how nice it was to have a space in which they could relax, connect and enjoy their beautiful surroundings. The impact on the camp experience was immediately felt.

As you leaf through the pages of this year’s annual report and review all that is happening at Camp, we would like to thank you for making Camp Sunshine such a magical and special place. Our success is a direct result of you - our partners, donors, participating foundations and volunteers who have chosen to make a difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

We are humbled by your generosity of time, talents and funding to help others. Our gratitude is also extended to our committed staff, board members and especially our Camp families who invite us into their lives.

Living with the challenge of COVID-19 currently present, we will through various avenues strive to provide much needed connection and a sense of community to our families, volunteers and donors. With your kind and continued support we will get through this together and look forward to the next 35 years of creating incredible moments and cherished memories.

“Camp is so much more than a place to stay. It is a retreat from a world where you don’t fit in. It is

a place where you belong, it is a safe haven to laugh, cry,

connect and relax. It is a family- a community. We lift

each other up and gain strength to keep fighting.”

“It is heartbreaking

to see your child suffer and not to be able to help.

When we are at Camp those things are forgotten.

We get to remember what it is like to be a family. This week has been heaven-sent for us.

We have found a place of love and comfort.”

- Clinton Fam

ily, 2019 Brain Tumor Session– Pelletier Family, 2019 Oncology Sess

ion

“My kids thrive here. It means so

much to them to be able to meet kids and siblings going through the same thing. They

don’t have to worry about being different or fitting in, they can just play and make memories. This is

our favorite place to be!”

- Akese Family, 2019 Sickle

Sess

ion

“My family wants to say thank you! What you are doing is touching lives in ways that

you can’t even imagine. Kids are being encouraged to be

hopeful, and parents are finding support. We hope many more families will have the benefit we had.”

“The support of other families is something we will

carry home with us. From the little tips on teaching kids to swallow

pills, to the big picture perspective on coping, we’ve gained

so much from talking to other families.”

- Cornwell Family, 2019 DBA Session

“This experience has brought us closer

as a family and my daughter can now see

that there is hope.”
