A weekly publication for members and friends of Resurrection and the Child Development Center
Resurrection’s Mission Statement: Called by God’s Spirit, we are to be the presence of Christ in our daily lives so that others will follow him.
A RESURRECTION UNSUNG HERO IS RETIRING
John Wiedenbauer is stepping
down as Usher Coordinator at
Resurrection after 20 years.
Most parishioners have never real-
ized the time and effort he has put
in to making our weekend Services
run as smoothly as they do.
Over that period most weekends
have found him present at all four
services and more often than not,
stepping in as needed. John devel-
oped the current seating chart and legend as well as the cur-
rent Communion procedures for both regular Sunday and Holiday Services. He has instituted a weekly reminder for the
some 80 ushers who volunteer on a weekly Service basis.
These efforts have made our Services essentially
seamless and very efficient.
John has lived in Tucson for sixty years with wife, Sylvia, and
we are delighted that he will remain an active member of
Resurrection in his “retirement.” Please join us on the patio
Sunday, June 2 after the 9:15am Service to thank John for
his years of service and enjoy a piece of cake to celebrate!
Soon, we will go to a summer break for our
Wednesday Worship. We will not gather on
Wednesdays during the months of June, July
and August. We will resume Wednesday Worship
at 6:15pm on September 4.
We look forward to offer a new look to the
Wednesday evening Worship time in the fall. Stay
tuned for the plans! And…see you this Wednesday
at 6:15pm for our final mid-week Service prior to the
break.
Bishop Deborah Hutterer will preach at our OV Services next weekend, June 1-2!
We are honored to have our
Grand Canyon Synod Bishop, Deb
Hutterer, with us at our OV Ser-
vices next weekend! Bishop Hut-
terer, who was elected last sum-
mer as our synodical Bishop at
the Synod Assembly held at Res-
urrection, will bring us God’s
Word through the sermon. Please welcome Bishop Hutterer!
On Sunday, June 2, we are in need of
volunteers to help stack and move the
Sanctuary chairs
after the last Service in preparation for
Vacation Bible School. We hope you
will join us! Questions? Contact Bren-
da O’Connor at 520-575-9901.
The Church office will be closed this Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

What’s Happening @ Resurrection Seeking Singers!

choir? Beginning June 12th, all ages, all voice types,
and all skill levels are invited to
join us Wednesday evenings
from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the
Worship Center. No musical
experience necessary. Come
be a part of our family.
HELP NEEDED! The Council and Finance Committee are
searching for a person to assist with a
bookkeeping project. The qualified person
will have an accounting background and
have comprehensive knowledge and expe-
rience with Quick Books. If you have an interest, please con-tact Judy Stanard at 520-818-6758 or [email protected].
Your Council at Work! The Strategic Planning Committee is working and
making huge strides toward their goal of stating
the vision and the method of achieving that vision
within the next 3, 5 and 10 years. Each of you will
be encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas
with the Committee. At the end of the process,
combining their knowledge, research and infor-
mation provided by the congregation, they will
present a final product of the Vision Statement
that will give us a plan to place our church on an
upward trajectory of spiritual and mission growth.
And, in partnership with the Finance Com-
mittee….We are in the planning stage of rebuild-
ing our financial system, processes and proce-
dures. Our planning started with the financial re-
view that was completed by our own Katie Max-
well and her team. They gave us recommenda-
tions for new and improved processes and proce-
dures and a vision of a system that would benefit
the church at the present time and well into the
future. These changes will mesh perfectly with the
Strategic Planning Committee’s final product de-
fining a plan for the future of Resurrection Luther-
an Church.
Our goal it to work for you
and with you to give all of us
the very best worship experi-
ence possible and provide a
way to be disciples in our
troubled world.

invited to meet for lunch on

What’s Happening @ Resurrection
Not everyone leaves Tucson in the summer! Members of Resurrection who continue to enjoy
the outdoors in the summer are invited to attend a Hiking Life Group Social on Saturday,
June 29, 2:00pm-4:30pm. New member Mary Davis is hosting this social to get acquainted
with other members. It will be a snack potluck and Mary will provide beverages. It will be a
nice time to explore creative ideas for enjoying God’s wonderful creation together. One possi-
ble event is a hike to enjoy an evening sunset together in Catalina State Park. Email Mary Da-
vis [email protected] to learn more about the social gathering on June 29th in her
home close to Resurrection Lutheran Church. Note: Our hikes are all levels, easy to
strenuous. If you are interested in learning more, join us!
Life Hiking Group’s Sabino Canyon hike last Saturday… They enjoyed a pleasant hike in cool temps and devotion and prayer and lots of good fellowship with Resurrection friends!
