My Brothers and Sisters,

Happy 4th of July everyone!! Go America!! It’s going to be another party at the pool on the

4th again this year. I hope everybody can get up here to celebrate this awesome day. It will

be a great time for sure! Thanks to all of you who make this possible. Jay and the pool

committee, the lifeguards, cooks, servers, and those who clean up. It takes a lot of work to

put together such an amazing party. We all appreciate it very much.

Thursday night family nights are back again. Bring your family and friends up to hang out

with us. Maybe you can even get them a membership application so they can enjoy our

Lodge all year long.

Mark your calendars for July 24th. We are going to compete for the King or Queen of the

grill. If you think you have what it takes to take the crown, bring your grill and food for

grilling, and we’ll see who gets to sit upon the throne! Contact the very beautiful Kelly

Cook 828-551-1949 for info on how you can compete.

Karen Ensley and her son’s Boy Scout troop, along with other volunteers, in coordination

with the pool staff, conducted the Flag Day ceremony on June 14th. I can’t tell you all how

much I appreciate you sharing your time to recognize our Nation’s flag. You may or may

not know that the Elks started Flag Day! Our flag is the most beautiful flag in the world.

The flag is also the emblem of the station of the Leading Knight in the Lodge, whose motto

is Charity. Charity is the Elks crowning virtue, and I couldn’t think of better symbol to

stand for it. The red, the white, the blue!! Amen!!!

A group of Elks took a trip to Atlanta to watch the Braves play the Cubs. It was great!

Maybe we can do more stuff like this in the future.

Remember that there will be no lodge meeting July 5th. We will resume our regular meeting

schedule on July 19th with initiation. We need to focus on building our membership this

year. I know you know at least one person that you would be proud to introduce to your

great lodge. Bring them up to the lounge for dinner and drinks. We have some of the best

food in town, and I know the best drinks. Keep in mind, when bringing guest, sign them in,

and only Elks members in good standing can purchase drinks. Your guests won’t mind a

bit. Tell them about the charitable work Elks do in the community, and the support we give

our veterans. Tell them how much fun we have doing these things, and how it’s like a big

ole family up here. Then tell them how they can be a part of it. I hope everyone has a fun

It is July which means it time for the 4th of July party at the Pool!! We

have a great day planned for you and your family this year. The gate will open earlier than normal and all the games and activities will begin around

1pm. Here is a hint of the activities for you and your children this year. Best Dive, BIG SPLASH, paddle board races, Women’s power walk, 4 on 4

volleyball (12 & under tournament and 13 & over tournament), Free Throw shooting contest (8 & under, 9-12, 13-18, and 18 & over). New this year is

a marshmallow chipping contest to help raise money for Sickness & Dis-tress. For $1.00/ swing try to chip a marshmallow into a Hula Hoop and if

you can do so you will win $5.00 worth of Concession Bucks!! We hope to raise about $200.00 for Sickness & Distress, this contest will take place

from 2-3:30 pm.

Don’t forget there will be a great Lunch served in the Picnic Shed. JJ Kilpatrick and

his committee will have a meal of BBQ, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for all of us to enjoy. So come early and stay until closing. That’s at normal time (6:30 pm) folks,

we don’t want the kiddos to miss out on the Fireworks!!

Please remember the only way to get your in county guests into the pool is through our In County Pass program. For $10.00 you can bring a whole family or a single

person (remember only 2 years ago you could only bring them on Family Nights) to the pool. Help us keep our pool a private pool by Following this rule or you could

lose your pool membership for 2 weeks.

Remind your children that they must be 16 to be at the pool unless they are being watched by an adult. This is for THEIR SAFETY.

There are still dates available for Pool parties this summer. They make for a great

Family, business, church or birthday experience. Call Lisa in the main office (828) 693-3424 to book your next party here at the Elks.

We hope you are enjoying your 2016 Pool Season!!!

Message from the Esquire:

First I would like to thank everyone who participated in our baseball trip. Not only did we

get to watch the Cubby’s win..especially with JJ there, but a heck of a game which included

for gingers, a lot of runs, and some great defensive plays. More so was the comradery

amount our travelers. Some old friends laughing it up, new ones sharing stores over liba-

tions, and even what could only be describes as an impromptu sing-a-long on our ride

home….BRAVO!!! I look forward to our next venture, and expanding our merry band!

Second: to the person or persons who anonymously paid my pool party rental. A VERY

SINCERE THANK YOU. Our office manager, Lisa, can tell you I was upset with it at first.

Not that I am not grateful, but self admiring too proud! And look at it as charity, not the

hand of friendship. You all have taken in this Yankee and made me one of your own.

I just want to restate how proud I am to be a member of this Lodge and your friend.

Sincerely and Fraternally yours,

Kevin Burns
