A Publication of Hobe Sound Christian Academy F rom the PrincipalToday is the 284th birthday of David Rittenhouse, a brilliant Revolutionary War era American who was an astronomer, inventor, clockmaker, mathematician, surveyor, and public official. Called a “friend of God and man” by Dr. Benjamin Rush, Rittenhouse had many notable accomplishments in his lifetime including creating the first coins in the United States from George Washington’s personal silverware. One of his inventions called an orrery can still be seen today at the University of Pennsylvania. Rittenhouse’s orrery is a mechanical model of the solar system that illustrates the movement of the planets and moons giving the viewer a glimpse into the beauty of the symmetry and order of God’s creation! S tep Up scholarships are open to new families at www. stepupforstudents.org. T he High School Drama department will be presenting a dinner drama tonight, April 8, at 6 pm in the Schmul Center. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in the academy office. I f you still have the spring photo pictures, we need you to return them to the office or bring in your payment if you would like to keep them. ank you! W e will have Spring Break from April 11-15, so there will be no classes for the academy. Classes will resume on April 18. D ue to college Spring Break, the cafeteria will be closed on the week following our spring break from April 18-22. Included in today’s Friday Facts is an order form that you can fill out if you want to purchase pizza from the senior class. e completed form should be turned in at least one day before you want your child to have pizza. e pizza will be delivered to the classrooms at lunch time. If you do not purchase pizza, you will need to pack a lunch for your child. Please be sure that your child’s lunch does not require a microwave since they will not be available. T he FACCS Jr. Fine Arts Competition will be April 22. If you did not turn in a lunch order form already, please pack a lunch for your child. e bus will be leaving at 7:15 am on Friday, April 22. Dress clothes are required for this event and must meet school guidelines. Boys are to wear a white shirt, black pants, black socks, and black shoes. Girls are to wear a white shirt, black skirt, black socks or hose/tights, and black shoes. Further schedule details will also be coming home aſter spring break. T he Senior class has rescheduled their 3 on 3 Volleyball Tournament for Saturday, April 30. e cost is $35 per team.
