CHRISTMAS IN GREECE
Christmas is the most popular holiday in Greece.
At Christmas we decorate the Christmas tree with colourful baubles, chains, Christmas lights and a star
at the top of the tree.
We often send cards to our friends and relatives.
Children sing carols in the streets, in houses and at school celebrations.
At home Father Christmas and mums and dads put presents under the Christmas tree.
We always open our presents on New Year’s Day!
On Christmas Day’s afternoon the family has a great Christmas lunch.
Greeks eat roast turkey with potatoes, beef or pork with rice and salad.
For dessert we have “melomakarona” or “kourabiedes”, a kind of sweet cookies with caster sugar or honey syrup.
After lunch, we give presents to each other.
We always have fun at Christmas!
We love Christmas and our Christmas traditions!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, friends!
We’ll be back soon with a new project!
Our best wishes!
