The Energy and Homeowner Support Team have a variety of schemes, which could help your clients to live in warmer, safer homes.
• Our schemes are open to homeowners and private landlords across the Wakefield district
• Our schemes cover replacement boilers, gas central heating and loft and cavity wall insulation
• Some schemes provide FREE insulation and heating systems
• Eligibility criteria does apply to some schemes but not all, and there is something available for everyone
Home Energy Efficiency SchemesWe have a range of grants and schemes for heating and insulation improvements to help keep residents warmer in their homes and reduce their energy bills.

Our schemes change on a regular basis so we encourage residents to get in touch to see what’s available!
The heating work available may include, but is not limited to: • Gas boiler repair • Gas boiler replacement • Fitting of replacement or additional
radiators to an existing system • Full gas central heating system • Fitting of replacement or additional
heating controls • Installation of a new gas connection
Who is it for? The applicant may qualify if they meet all of these four criteria:
• They live in and own their home• A total household income of less than
£21,000 after tax and mortgage payments and savings of less than £16,000
• A broken or faulty heating system, or don’t have central heating at all
• They have an illness that makes them more vulnerable to the cold
Supports people in poor health with essential heating improvements to keep their home warm with 100% funded heating works. The scheme is not widely publicised and is targeted via referrals.

Fuel Poverty Fund
To qualify for a loan you must:• Own and live in the property
• Only own one property
• Owe less money in total on your mortgage and/or secured loan than your property is worth
The loan can be used to stop legal action on the home by the lender and help the client to stay there or sell their home.

Mortgage Breathing SpaceAn interest free, secured loan of between £2,000 and £15,000 to clear arrears or pay future payments.
A helping hand for homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage.
Our loans can be used for improvements and essential repairs including: • A boiler or radiators
• Double glazing or external doors
• Roofing repairs
Applicants could receive an interest free loan of up to £7,000 with repayment terms of up to 5 years. Our loans are available through the Leeds City Credit Union and are available to owner occupiers* in the Wakefield district.
