SACHA’S EXQUISITE JEWELLERY DESIGNS ARE UNIQUELY PERSONALISED, AND USE ETHICALLY SOURCED MATERIALS. SHE TURNED HER HOBBY INTO A BUSINESS AFTER HER FIRST BABY IN 2011, AND NOW HAS A BUSY WORKSHOP NEAR HER HOME IN HOVE.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WHAT YOU DO? What I love the most about making jewellery is being able to use my hands in an almost primitive way. People have been making jewellery with metal for over 5000 years. It’s a simple human desire to adorn the body with beautiful objects –

and to be able to make these things, even at the simple level that I do, feels really special. I love that I get my hands dirty; I get to burn things and hit things with a hammer – and I get to see a project go from nothing to something beautiful at the end of the process.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I’m constantly inspired by other artists and craft workers. There’s an artist’s open house event here in Brighton in May and December, and I love walking around seeing all the beautiful things other people have made. It’s a real mix of different things - from paintings

and textiles to pottery and the occasional jewellery piece too. WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

My personal style is always developing. I’m becoming more and more drawn to a minimalistic, modern style. I’ve always loved bold shapes and clean lines, and am moving towards simple, clean finishes rather than things that feel a little ‘busy’.

I try to incorporate my personal style into my jewellery, but I also keep in mind what’s important to the customer. It’s really special when someone gets to add their own element of design to an item they’re going to buy.

Running a business is fast paced and exciting, but it’s in these quieter moments that I get to digest previous ideas, and I return to them with a fresh outlook. WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

As I’m extremely busy, my style is very simple. I love the colour white and really enjoy the sense of space that can be created with attention to lighting. When shopping for my home, I only buy an item if I really fall head-over-heels in love with it. As a result, I have fewer items; however, every piece is appreciated every day.
