Christ is Calling YOU

Beloved, I notice that

many of you do not come

to church. I believe it is

time to reexamine our

relationship with Christ

and the Church. What did

this pandemic do to us

spiritually? At first we

were frightened and

prayed at home. Summer

came and a great apathy

overcame us and our families. Now, as the fast of

Dormition is coming, it is time to return to church. The

church is now open! Let’s shake up fear and put on the

armor of the Faith! Without Christ we are lost and in

darkness.

Saint Paul urges us all to be “imitators of God”. He

cautions us to not become apathetic, but to rather

“redeem the time, for the days are evil!” (Eph. 5,16).

When he wrote these words, Christians were under

persecution and he raised their Christian consciousness.

But we came to allow the fear factor to be our persecutor.

Today, Christ wants us to redeem the irreversible time of

our life and return to Him. For this, I am calling on you

with the words of prophet Isaiah: “Awake you who sleep,

arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light” (Is.

26:19).

Iubiților, observ că mulți

nu veniți la biserică.

Socotesc că este vremea să

vă reexaminați relația cu

Hristos și Biserica. Oare ce

a făcut această pandemie

cu noi? La început, speriați,

ne-am rugat. Apoi a venit

vara și o mare apatie a

cuprins familiile noastre.

Nu vă văd pe voi și nu văd

copiii. Odată cu postul Adormirii Maicii Domnului care se

apropie, este timpul să ne întoarcem la biserică, deoarece

este deschisă! Să scuturăm frica și să ne punem armura

credinței! Fără Hristos suntem pierduți și în întuneric.

Sfântul Pavel ne cheamă “să fim următori ai lui

Dumnezeu, ca prea iubiți fii ai Lui” (Ef. 5,15). El ne

previne să nu devenim indiferenți, ci mai degrabă “să

răscumpărăm timpul, căci zilele sunt rele “ (Ef. 15,16).

Când scria aceste cuvinte, Creștinii erau sub prigoană, iar

el le deștepta conștiința. Noi însă lăsăm frica să devină

persecutorul nostru. Astăzi Hristos ne cheamă să

răscumpărăm ireversibilul timp al vieții noastre și să ne

întoarcem la El. Pentru asta vă chem cu cuvintele

prorocului Isaia: “Deșteaptă-te, tu, cel ce dormi, deșteaptă-

te din morți și Hristos te va lumina” (Is. 26,19).

ADOPT A FLOWER BED! Our church property is as beautiful as we make

it. It should be the same as the property of our

house. Probably, all of you who have houses

plant, wather, weed and decorate the flower beds.

To reduce the spendings, this year we could not

afford to pay for taking care of the loan and

flower beds. Some parish members (mentioned

in our previous bulletins), volunteered and

trimmed the shrubs, pulled the weeds, and cleaned the

property of fallen tree-branches. I hope YOU all found the

property well kept when you came to church on Sundays.

Now, we are very much in need for a few families to ADOPT

A FLOWER BED! If interested, call the parish office to be

informed what we will expect from you.

ETHNIC MUSEUM DONATION

On July 14, Father Remus Grama

and Adrian Breaz, a member of

the parish and former member of

the Parish Council, traveled to

Jackson Michigan to bring a

sizable collection of paintings by

Cornelia Tait Damian. She was a

Romanian-American painter who

donated her works to the

Episcopate. Through the good

will of our Archbishop Nathaniel

the collection was given on

permanent loan to our museum. Upon arrival, we were

helped by Viorel, Christopher and Kevin Oancea, Sorin

Breaz and Gheorghe Popa to unload and store the

collection.

Many thanks to His Eminence and ROEA as well as our

volunteers. As soon as feasible, we will organize an

exhibition to display these works to our faithful. This

way, our museum added a new attraction for the art

lovers.

THE FAST OF DORMITION, SOON

(August 1st)

One week from now, we will begin the fast of the

falling asleep of the Virgin Mary. According to

Orthodox Christian tradition, every church has a patron

saint or feast. Our church is placed under the protection

of this feast of the Virgin. For two weeks, in the middle

of the summer, the Church invites us to a period of

preparation through prayer and fasting, the two wings of

the soul.

We urge our members to read the Paraclis to the

Mother of God and take part in the services of the

church. Confession is advised in such way that on the

day of the feast we may all be united with Christ in Holy

Eucharist.

POSTUL ADORMIRII MAICII DOMNULUI

ÎNCEPE ÎN CURÂND (1 August)

Peste o săptămână, vom începe postul Adormirii

Maicii Domnului, Fecioara Maria. Conform tradiției

creștin-ortodoxe, fiecare biserică este patronată de un

Sfânt, când sărbătorim Hramul bisericii. Biserica noastră

este așezată sub protecția acestei sărbători a Fecioarei.

Timp de două săptămâni, în mijlocul verii, Biserica ne

invită la o perioadă de pregătire prin rugăciune și post,

cele două aripi ale sufletului.

Îi îndemnăm pe toți enoriașii noștri să citească

Paraclisul Maicii Domnului și să ia parte la slujbele

bisericii. Mărturisirea este de asemenea recomandată

astfel încât, în ziua sărbătorii, să fim cu toții uniți cu

Hristos prin Sfânta Euharistie.

Great Vespers Again

Following the heat of July, on Saturday, August 1st we

will begin again the services of the Great Vespers and

Confessions, every Saturday, at 5 pm.

din nou slujbele Marilor Vecernii și Mărturisiri, în fiecare

sâmbătă, la ora 17:00.

Biserica noastră este dragostea lui Dumnezeu pentru

rezultatul generațiilor de credincioși și a multor

sacrificii. Ea este mai mult decât o clădire, căci este

sfințită de Duhul Sfânt și spălată cu lacrimi de peste 116

ani. Pereții ei de cărămidă sunt legați de credința și

amintirile a mii de credincioși, care au construit-o, au

pictat-o și au păstrat-o.

Acest sanctuar continuă să izbăvească harul divin

pentru mângâierea și mântuirea multora. Mulțumim

tuturor membrilor și prietenilor noștri care, în special în

această perioadă de pandemie, continuă să realizeze că

fără sprijinul tuturor nu putem face acest lucru.

Sunteți un membru de sprijin al bisericii? Dacă nu,

vă rugăm să vorbiți cu preotul și să cereți a fi numărați

printre cei care îl iubesc pe Dumnezeu și doresc să facă

diferența. Mulțumesc!

Our Church is all about God’s love for us and our

love of God. It is the result of generations of faith and

many sacrifices. It is more than a building, for it is

sanctified by the Holy Spirit and washed with the tears of

116 year. Her brick walls are bound by the faith and

memories of thousands of faithful, who built it, painted it

and preserved it.

This sanctuary continues to spring forth divine grace

for the comfort and salvation of many. We Thank All our

members and friends who especially at this time of

pandemic continue to realize that without everyone’s

support we cannot do it.

are loc în fiecare Joi între 10 am și 12 pm. Când vremea
