One of my favorite songs right now is by Seventh Time Down. It’s called “God is On the Move.” Can you guess why it’s one of my favorites? I think this is the current theme song of our church! The chorus says this, “God is on the move, on the move, Hallelujah! God is on the move in many mighty ways. God is on the move, on the move, Hallelujah! God is on the move, on the move TODAY!” Over the past couple of weeks, our church has faced some adversity, some challenges, and yet, God not only remained faithful, but poured His Spirit out in our church in many powerful ways. After our sanctuary flooded, you prayed for our church and God moved powerfully the following Sunday. You continued to pray, and God continued to move this past Sunday. Here is what we must learn and commit to do. We must learn that God is moving and there is nothing we can do to stop Him. We can slow His progress but His will be done. Therefore, let’s commit to praying that God will use you to further His work through FBC. God IS on the move! This weekend, Joshua Price will be presented to you as our next Youth Minister. The Youth Minister Search Team is united in presenting him. I ask that you take an opportunity to meet Josh on Saturday. From 10:00am until noon we will host a church-wide meet and greet in the Fellowship Hall. In the afternoon, from 3:00pm-5:00pm we will host a time for youth and youth parents to meet with Josh and hear from him concerning youth ministry. On Sunday, Josh will speak briefly in both morning services sharing with you his testimony, call to ministry, and ministry philosophy. Following each service, we will enter into a special called business conference to cast ballots to affirm Josh as our next youth minister. Please be in prayer for Josh, our church, and youth ministry as we seek to follow God’s leading. Can you help? Our South Texas Mission Team needs a team leader for the construction part of the mission. If you are someone who has a background in construction, can approximate project costs, instruct people in project scope and completion, and lead a team of highly motivated people who love to serve, then please consider leading this team. The construction part of the South Texas mission trip is at the heart of our church’s contribution to the trip. If you are interested or know someone who can fill this role, please you contact Larry Isham at [email protected]. Thanks in advance for helping us serve the people of South Texas. Calling all TAMU Employees - I want to meet with you! After my first year ministering on campus, I would love to learn from you. I would like to visit your office some time to get your insight on campus, the student body, and ways you think we could effectively minister to students. I know many of you work on campus, but I am not sure I know everyone that is affiliated. If you can, please shoot me an email at [email protected] and let me know if, when, and where we could meet. You are experts on campus life and I would love to garner your insight as I seek to better reach the multitude of students who show up to our

community each year.

THE GREAT FLOOD OF ‘17 * When you look around the sanctuary and the surrounding areas, you will still see evidence of the aftermath of the flooding in the church. It will be several months before we can assess the true damages to the church and even longer before the church is made “whole” again. Please know that Tim Martin and I are working to

restore everything as quickly as we can.

THANK YOU to all of you who were able to come up and help the day of the accident. Because of your efforts, we were able to save a lot of equipment and other items that would have been damaged. Thank you, also, to the group who came up early the Sunday after the accident to help get things ready for worship. It was such a blessing to have our church

members come to the rescue!

FINANCIAL * First quarter contribution statements will be sent out this month. If you have any questions about your statement or notice any problems, please contact me as soon as

possible.

Our first quarter giving numbers were incredible – since I have been working at FBC, we have never hit the $500,000 mark in the fourth month of the year. At the end of April 2017, our total budget offerings are $544,519.31. Your church is so grateful for your continued

offerings!

Congratulations to MADISON LEE! Madison had a perfect score in the 2017 State Youth Bible Drill contest on April 29. She was also selected as the alternate representative for Texas to the National contest later this year, which means if the student selected as the Texas representative cannot attend, Madison will

step up to represent Texas.

Mission Friends, Bible Buddies and Bible Drill will have their end-of-year celebration on Wednesday, May 17 at 6:30pm. We will have food, fun and games and inflatables to celebrate a season of hard work and accomplishments. Children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2017 through those who have completed sixth grade are invited to join us on June 4-8 for Vacation Bible School. Times are 6:00-8:30pm each day. Bring a

friend and come discover the God of the Universe! Online registration begins this week!

VBS Nibble Nook needs your help to give our hard working VBS teachers & helpers a snack during their break. Please call the office at 696-7000 to sign up for a day to bring your

goodies!

Registration is now open for this summer’s FirstKids Camp! Camp will be July 10-14 at Trinity Pines Conference Center in Trinity, TX. If your child has completed third through sixth grade they may attend. The cost for this incredible week filled with Bible study, recreation, worship and more is $265. Brochures are available at the church. Bring a friend and share

the fun!
