Shichi-Go-San
Welcome to India!
Shichi-Go-San ( , literally "seven-five-three") is a traditional rite of
passage and festival day in Japan for three and seven year-old girls and three
and five year-old boys, held annually in Japan.
Children are taken to a Shinto shrine to give thanks for their health and pray for
their good health, growth and happy future free of sickness and misfortune.
The Shinto priest at the shrine performs a purification ceremony and then children
are given hitose-ame (thousand year candy) colored red and white in long bags
decorated with turtles and cranes, which are symbols of longevity in Japan.
“Engage” turns 7 this year & we wish to celebrate the year as
a festival in ode of the “Engage”, we wish Engage all the best
and glorious readership ahead ...

HSCI Suppliers Club functions strictly on “not-for-profit” basis. It was decided in the Executive Committee Meeting to make the newsletter self-sustaining by inviting Suppliers to release advertisements in the “Engage”. They will have a wide readership comprising people directly connected with the Auto and Auto Component Industry, and specifically with Honda. We will be happy to receive your advertisement in the next issue of “Engage”. Please send the ad in an open corel draw file format only, alongwith cheque payable to HSCI Suppliers Club Society. Since we have limited space, ads will be accepted strictly on “first-come-first-served” basis. For further information, please contact the undersigned.

EditorialHello friends,
With this issue, Engage has completed 7 eventful
years. Congratulations to you all for making it
happen.
Borrowing a leaf from the Japanese celebrations of
‘Shichi - Go - San’, we too are overjoyed at completing
7 glorious years, and hope for many more years of
staying ‘engaged’.
In today’s day and age, when every organization in the
world is pacing faster to reach the top, we at HSCI
Suppliers Club are fervently pursuing to put India at a
strategic position on the world automobile map. The
hard work has already paid- off to a great extent, with
India ranking as the third largest market in the world for
light vehicles including passenger cars and light
commercial vehicles.
However, that’s not the end of the road. There are miles
to go before we ‘park’ ourselves!
Every big achievement starts with small progressive
steps. To start- off, we must focus on seeking
continuous improvement of the shop floor (5S, QC,
Kaizen and Waste Reduction) and work towards
quality and timely delivery to not just match global
standards, but exceed them.
Therefore, the more contribution and participation,
the better. Let’s all endeavor to utilize the best
information, techniques and trends available around
the world and strive to be globally competitive
suppliers. Let's keep-up the good work we are doing.
Looking forward to your feedback !
Sincerely,
Aarti Anandan
