It has been an interesting and busy semester for members of the Depart- ment. It gives me great opportunity to present the fifth issue of “REFLECTION”. This inter- nal newsletter is one of the ways in which we can disseminate information on the life of the Department The past semester was full of various activities by the stu- dents and faculty in academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular as well as research & developments. As you read through the pages you will realize, that the Department had a particularly successful semester, we succeeded in organizing the first State Level seminar CRTCE’12. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their tireless efforts to help the depart- ment progress at a very steady pace. Prof. Nuzhat F. Welcome and best wishes to all the friends of the Department who receive this

1. Mr. Narendra Rajput has won 1st prize in Dementia Programme Event on 10th Feb 2012 - 11th

Feb 2012 at IIT—Mandi.

2. Ms. Malawika Bansal,Mr. Shivin Saxena , Mr. Devendra Desale a nd Mr. Dnyaneshwar

Jadhav has won 2nd Runner up prize in Digital Signal Processing , Image Processing at Impetus

And Concepts –2012 in Pune Institute of Computer Technologya guided by Prof. J.R.Panasare and

publish paper in International Journal of computer science Issues on 30th Nov 2011.

3. Mr. Ashish Kumar,Ms. Reshma Raju, Ms. Aarti Goel and Ms. Poorva Pathak have pre-

sented papers titled “ICRA-A Unified Tool to Model the Performance of Linux Block Device Lay-

er Using Queuing Theory” at International Conference on Recent Trends in Engineering and Tech-

nology organized by SNJB’s College of Engineering, Chandwad, Nasik on 24th-25th March 2012

and “OPAL- A Revolution to Linux Block Device Layer”, at International Conference on Recent

Advances in Computer Sciences organized by GIET, Rajahmundry, India on 30th - 31st March

2012.

1.A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of B.E. and T. E. Computer on the topic of

“.HARDWARE TECHNOLOGY ’ on 20th January 2012. The speaker for the session was Mr.

Rohini Dharrnadhikari & Mr. Ketan Dedge from Jetking. They gave information pertaining to

hardware technology for Projects. The students also gained ideas for the final year project from

this session.

2.A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of B.E. and T. E. Computer on the topic of

“.MOBILE COMPUTING ’ on 06th March 2012. The speaker for the session was : Mr. Amulay

Prakash and Mr. Rohini Swaminiranjan Dass from Quagnizia. . They gave information about ba-

sics idea of Android and Apple . The intention of this session was to prepare the students applica-

tion oriented.

3.A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of T. E. Computer and TE E&TC on the topic

of “GD Technique on 14th March 2012. The speaker for the session was Mr. Rakesh Agarwal

from Mittal Software . He gave information about the requirement of group discussion and PI

techniques and the need for more professional developement.

4.A One day state level seminar was arranged on the topic of “.Current Research Trends in Com-

puter Engineering” on 16h March 2012.The speakers for the seminar were “Data Privacy – Chal-

lenges and Opportunities.” by Dr. Sachin Lodha (TCS) “Research Opportunities in Artificial In-

telli-gence" by Dr. Parag Kulkarni (CEO, Eklat Re-search) “Research Opportunities in Image Pro-

cessing” by Dr. Priti Rege (COEP) “Introduction to Fuzzy Logic and Applications of Fuzzy Log-

ic” by Dr. R.S. Deodhar (DIAT, Pune) and “Research Opportunities in Cloud Computing” by Mr.

Darshan Masaliya (Consultant)

5. An industrial visit was arranged for BE Computer students to Hyderabad for 4 days from 19 th

Feb to 22nd Feb 2012. There were total 22 students (BE Computer) and 5 faculties.

6. A two days workshop was arranged on the topic of “.Android ” on 16h and 17h March

2012.The workshop was conducted by Mr. Kalpesh Sevakfrom Bootcamps India—Mumbai insti-

tutions. They gave information about basic of Android Operating System and Application. The

students also gained ideas for the final year project from this session.

Events

TE Student Achievements

1. Mr. Pranvav Chokra designed projects for Para-military force (CRPF), industries, organiza-

tions etc. Some of the projects are computerized sand model, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Advanced

UAV Drone, Packaging and Production based automation, proto-tablet, OLE for process control

(OPC.NET), Unmanned Ground Vehicle. Research and development over various advanced

technology is in progress under the guidance and cooperation of the department.

The Computer Department along with the Electronics & Telecommunication department and the

Mechanical department had arranged an Inter-college Technical event for the students of the col-

lege ‘SAGA 2012’

Target Audience: S.E, T.E, & B.E students & other colleges .

Activity Report:

A three days technical & Non-technical inter college event “SAGA 2012” was organized from the

23rd Feb 2012 to 25th Feb 2012 at MESCOE ,Pune. The event was organized to encourage students

to develop their technical and non-technical skills by organizing and participating in various com-

petitions. The event included competitions such as Code fury, CPU assembly, FIFA, G Brainy and

Makesite. The students of the college and other colleges participated in the event enthusiastically

making the event a success.

Computer Department Organised One Days State Level Seminar on “Current Research

Trends in Computer Engineering” (CRTCE ’2012) on 16th March 2012 at Seminar Hall (A36

old building) from 09.00 AM to 05.30 PM

Target Audience: Faculties of various Engineering colleges, Research Scholars from industry

and PG students.

Activity Report: One day state level seminar on “Current Research Trends in Computer Engineering” spon-

sored by University of Pune was conducted on 16th March, 2012 at MESCOE ,Pune.

This Seminar provided basic knowledge and skill to do Research in the field of Computer Engi-

neering. This seminar would be a great help to the staff members pursing PG in deciding the

Area of their academic project. In seminar following topics was covered:
