VATAYANI TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES Demonstration of DSO and MSO by Experts from Tektronix Company The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering organized Demonstration / Seminar on newly launched Tektronix MSO / DSO series Oscilloscope on 23 November 2012. Demonstration of high end equipments was very benefited for M. Tech Research Scholar & faculties of the department. The demonstration was delivered by Mr. Sushil Vohra, Application Engineer, Tektronix & Mr. Pratap Gawande, Sales Account Manager-Education. The demo included how testing of boards can be done with the help of MSO & DSO. Comparison of digital and analog outputs on MSO was shown. G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur organized two weeks course on Research Methodology and Quantitative Methods for Second Semester PG Students and Ph.D students of Engineering and Technology. The course work was held from 12 Decemeberl 2012 – 22 December 2012. On the first day the program started with a small inaugural ceremony. Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Nagpur and Dr. S. B. Jaju, Dean, R&D, GHRCE, Nagpur, spoke on the occasion and urged the students to grab this opportunity.

The two weeks course work was divided into two parts. One week was devoted to topics on Research Methodology and second week was devoted to Quantitative Methods with softwares such as Intellicad, MATLAb, LabVIEW, etc.

Topics of Research Methodology covered were Motivation of Research , Defining a Research Problem, Methods of Research, Hypothesis Testing , Research Design, Sampling, Literature Review, Tools and Techniques of Data Collection, Data Generation , Statistical Analysis of Data, Presentation of Research Findings, Smart Materials, How to write technical paper/Report, Writing Thesis, Hypothesis Testing, Operations Research Tools for optimization, Genetic Alogorithms, Fuzzy Multi-objective Optimization, Evaluation of Research, Patent & Innovation and Case Presentation.

Hands on practice on various Software covered -Excel and Power point, Linux, Intellicad, AutoCad, MATLAB, LabVIEW, LaTeX, and Exposure to R&D Facilities in each department

Department of Mechanical Engineering, G.H.raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur wasorganized two weeks ISTE workshop by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) Project. On “Engineering Thermodynamics “ G.H.Raisoni college of Engineering was one of the Remote Centre.

The total 22 participants were registered. Prof.P.P.Shingare was the workshop co-ordinator. The workshop was conducted by, Dr.U.N.Gaitonde, Dr. Balchandra Puranik, Dr. U.V. Bhandarkar, and Dr. Deepak Pathak. The workshop was conducted in sessions such as basic concept, problem solving, discussion, and question answers. On Saturday ,5th January ,2013 at Vidharbha Industries Association 1st Floor, Udyog Bhavan, Civil Lanes ,Nagpur.

This one day workshop is organized by The Indian Institute of Welding, MUMBAI Branch , in association with IIW Nagpur Local center. In this one day workshop some expert from industry are share their view regarding to welding as well as they are discuss some live case study with all delegates . In this one day work shop some expert are give information to non destructive testing(NDT) method those are generally carried out for the testing of welding joint .In this workshop the IIW mumbai branch are assured to our faculty they are wish to start some collaborative welding related certificate course with GHRCE Nagpur. This one day workshop is so beneficial for our faculty for teaching new trend in the field of welding technology like, checking of welding defect, welding quality , welding rod testing etc.

Department of Electronics Engineering organized five days STTP On LABVIEW and its Applications to engineering systems from 17th -21st December 2012 under TEQIP-II. This STTP was organized under National Instruments’ LABVIEW Academy at GHRCE Nagpur. Dr. A Y Deshmukh, HOD Electronics, Dr. P B Nagarnaik, Dr. Tidke, Dr. S S Dorle, Prof. S V Bhalerao were present during the inauguration ceremony. The participants were from various places like Nanded, Gondia,Mumbai ,Nashik ,Amravati and Nagpur.

The expert talk was given by Dr. D V Padole, Prof. S D Giripunje, Prof. P H Ragaree and the session was conducted by Prof. B B Sayankar, Prof. P P Rane, Prof. R S Mundewadikar, Prof. S V Bhalerao, Prof. N P Wyavhare, Prof. P M Ghutke and Prof. Y W Gedam.

Prof. Prashant Borkar and Prof. Manish Tembhurkar of CSE department and Prof. Parag Dhawan of MCA department, has delivered lectures at 5 days TEQIP-II Sponsored One Week Short Term Training Program On “Object Oriented Analysis & Design” from 24th–Dec.-2012 to 28th–Dec.-2012. Organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Government College of Engineering, Chandrapur.

Sessions were conducted by faculties along with Dr. S. K. Mahajan and Prof. D. J. Chaudhari. This workshop covered with all the aspects of Object Oriented Analysis and Design with UML. Both theory and practical session were their throughout the day. Following objectives were covered through this workshop.

To strengthen the fundamentals of Object Oriented Analysis & Design.

To create awareness about recent development in the subject.

To acquaint faculty about the research areas in the subject

To enable faculty about the training related to contents of the subject.

Around 55 participants have registered for this workshop, and it was grant success.

Students of M-Tech VLSI attended a certification course at IIT Bombay.

Shridhar Sahu and Farhina Ansari, students of MTech VLSI (IV Sem) attended a certification course at IIT Bombay from 19th November to 25th

November 2012. This was the first short term training program on Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing under CE-QIP (Continuing Education and Quality Improvement Program) IIT Bombay in collaboration with Applied Materials, USA. Applied Materials is an Industry which manufactures machines used for fabrication of devices. The audience comprised of Industry members, faculties and students. The course consisted of basic lectures and various lab sessions. The lectures were delivered by IIT Bombay Professors who are well specialized in respective fields. The lectures focused on basic semiconductor physics, different fabrication processes and difficulties associated with it. Some of the lectures were delivered by an Applied Materials employee on

different equipments provided by them, used for the fabrication of devices by the fabrication factory. Lab sessions composed of demonstrations of device fabrication processes such as lithography, oxidation deposition, diffusion, etching on semiconductor devices manufacturing machines.

Prof. N.A. Chavhan Invited as Session Chair at ICCSITInterscience Research Network is a forum for professionals to take up research in the area of science, engineering and technology has successfully conducted an International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (ICCSIT) on Sunday,9th December, 2012 at Nagpur, The 2nd Capital City Of Maharastra Venued at ,The Hotel Sunny International.

The Programme was Inaugurated by,Ms Nekita A Chavhan, Assistant Professor, G.H.Raisoni College Of Engineering as a Session Chair inaugurated the Conference proceeding in presence of Mr. Deepak Gudivada, the Conference Co-ordinator for the IRNet Conference. During the Technical Session Ms. N.A. Chavhan evaluated the papers and selected One best paper basing on the presentation and content . In the Valedictory Session all participants were awarded Certificates with special IRNet Medal to the Young Investigators.

One day workshop on “TEXAS INSTRUMENTS MSP430

MICROCONTROLLER & APLLICATIONS” UNDER NCVDES-

2012.

Department of Electronics Engineering has organized one day workshop on “TEXAS INSTRUMENT’S MSP430 MICROCONTROLLER & APPLICATIONS” under TEQIP-II conducted by Cranes Software, Bangalore on 7th Dec 2012. Total 30 participants had taken the advantage from workshop.

Mr. T. Umesh, (Field Engg.) Cranes Software, Bangalore was the expert resource person for the workshop. The MSP 430 microcontroller is a low power microcontroller and very useful in low power & no power applications. The basics & programming of microcontroller has covered along with practical hands on. The participants can impart their knowledge on upcoming projects based on microcontroller. The co-coordinator of workshop was Prof. M. M. Pathan and Prof. P. P. Rane.

GHRCE organizes ‘Youth Empowerment YES!+’ workshop for Second Semester

B.E. students.

G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering organised a 5-day ‘Youth Empowerment YES+ workshop’ for the students of Second Semester B.E. under the aegis of First Year Forum FAITH. Around 50 students participated in the workshop.

YES+ workshop is a tailor-made programme specially designed for the students which helps them in their academic and personal life.It helps them to increase their confidence levels, rejuvenate their extracurricular life, provide them the much needed boost in their physical health. This would ultimately help them to excel in their academics.

All the students felt that they have renewed physical, emotional and mental health after the workshop. They extended their thanks to the instructors of ‘Art of Living’ and the YES!+ workshop for the intense transformation brought about in them. The program was conducted under the guidance of Director Dr. Preeti Bajaj. Dean First Year Dr. B.P.Butey and faculties of First Engineering Department played an instrumental role in the success of the program.

A Workshop for Second Semester B.E. Students on “Positive Affirmation using Guided Mental Imagery: Why and How?”

The workshop was conducted for the Second Semester (BE Ist year students) Summer 2013. The facilitator for the workshop was Ms. Pooja A Shrivastava, Psychological Counselor, GHRCE. The workshop was held from 7th January 2013 to 17th

January 2013 during college hours

At the beginning of the workshop the students were informed about the importance of affirmation and the benefits that can be reaped when practiced daily. In the workshop the students were made to write about their one trait, they perceived needed change. The students were made to regulate their breathing and enter a state of deep and complete relaxation using a mental imagery. In this state they were asked to affirm the positive thought. Once the thought was affirmed the students were made aware of their inner strength and immense potential.

The workshop ended after taking the feedback.

An industrial tour to Reliance Communication, Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, Mumbai for the UG students of VIII Semester on 26th November 2012.

Industrial Visit of Second Semester B.E. Students

An industrial visit of First Semester B.E. students of sections A and K was organized by the First Year Engineering Department on 15th December 2012 at GHRCE. 69 Students of Section A visited Amitasha Interprises pvt ltd, Nagpur. The students

were accompanied by Prof. R.P. Gupta and Prof. R.R.Shrivastava.While about 80 Students of Section K visited Nagpur Cement, Nagpur. The students were accompanied by Prof. V.N. Choudhari and Prof. S.S. Solanke.Students got the opportunity to know many useful things which will be beneficial to them in the future and will also enhance their practical knowledge

CSR activity conducted by Electronics Engg. Dept. of G.H.R.C.E. in Hingana.

Electronics Engineering Department of G.H.R.C.E. conducted CSR activity at Nehru Junior College of Science, Hingana Nagpur on dated 8/12/2012 . The activity was carried out for students of XI & XII std.of science stream. The activity was successfully carried out by sixth semester students of Electronics Engg. Dept. accompanied by Prof.A.D.Tete. Main aim of the activity was giving technical knowledge to the students as well being “self employability” for the students. Activities taught to them included Automatic street light, Musical bell, High intensity torch making. Curiosity of students about electronic gadget and response & solution given by the Engg. student made the activity very fruitful and interesting.

The response of the student was overwhelming and their grasp of technical knowledge amazed one and all.

Parents’ Meet “HITGUJ” at GHRCE

A Parents’ Meet “Hitguj” for Second semester B.E. students was organized at GHRCE on 2ndDecember 2012. As the name suggests, the meet provided vistas to dyadic Communication opening all myriads of the Teaching- Learning Process and circumvent the vital bond of Mutual Trust and Faith. The meeting was a grand success as huge number of parents attended and showed keen interest in expressing their views, queries and reassured satisfaction about the institution.

Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director, in her address congratulated students for the success in the examination and expressed immense pleasure on the whole hearted support of the parents in all the academic endeavors. She urged students to maintain their academic standard as per current outcome based learning criteria and do introspection intermittently to raise their bar. Dr. Bajaj emphasized the importance of EQ for job retainability. With great pride she informed the house that the institute had recently hosted the international conference ICETET in Japan and is currently hosting a series of eight National conferences on various subjects and disciplines. She updated the gathering about the formation of a secular “Sanskar” group that would imbibe the importance of moral values in the students in times to come. In this program thirteen students with highest SGPA (10) and four students with 100 % attendance in First semester B.E were felicitated with certificates.

Dr P B Nagarnaik, Dean Academics, in his address urged parents for having a close eye on their ward’s attendance. He assured parents that quality is ensured in all the academic processes through quality audits by experienced professors from reputed institutes.

Dr B P Butey, Dean First Year in her presentation highlighted importance of transparent academic procedures and adherence to schedules. For perfect blend of hard & soft skills she encouraged students for participation in various on & off campus academic & non-academic activities. During the interaction with parents few constructive suggestions were applauded and queries were answered by dignitaries on the dais. The program ended with vote of thanks proposed by Prof. A.M.Sudame, Teacher Guardian Scheme coordinator.

Ms. Pooja Shrivastava psychological counselor urged the parents to avail this facility provided by the institution.

Earlier the program began by a Ganesh Vandana beautifully rendered by Vaishnavi Joshi followed by Tabla Jugal Bandi by Shalaka Joshi and Himanshu Kulhade which stole the hearts of the audience. Their rhythms got redefined by the spell-bound performance of “Tarana” by Aishwarya Abdeo. An

eye-opener skit “Life Maker or Life Partner” performed by students of various sections added colour to programme reassuring faith in the institution of family. The program was compeered by Ms Apoorva Sonavane. Forum Incharge Ms. Gurpreet Randhawa, teaching and non-teaching staff of First year Engineering department worked hard for the success of the program.

T-Shirt Designing Competition of Second Semester B.E. students in G.H.R.C.E

On Saturday, 8th December 2012, a T-Shirt Designing Competition was held in G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering for the budding engineers of B.E. Second Semester. It was a competition where the students got a chance to explore their creative side to design T-Shirts for the First Year Forum ‘FAITH. Around 50 students showcased their talent by displaying different designs which reflected the theme of ‘FAITH’. Mrs. Neha Munje, a well known Artist and Designer was the judge for the competition. She appreciated and lauded all the participants for their hard work and creativity and also gave useful suggestions .

The designs of Snehal Lonkor (Sec-H),Rupesh Rewatkar (Sec-G) & Shweta Dhote (Sec-H) were declared first, second & third respectively. Dean First Year Engg. Dr. B. P. Butey and the office bearers of Forum ‘FAITH’ proved to be instrumental for the success of the event.

Psychological Test conducted for Second Semester B.E. students

A Psychological test on Locus of Control was conducted for Second Semester B.E. students on 10th December by Psychological CounselorMs.Pooja Shrivastava .This psychological test was conducted throughout the first year comprising of eleven sections.

Department of Electronics Engineering is organizing a national conference on ‘VLSI DESIGN AND EMBEBBED SYSTEMS’

on 05th and 06th Dec 2012

The Department of Electronics Engineering has organized a national conference on ‘VLSI DESIGN AND EMBEBBED SYSTEMS’ on 05th and 06th Dec 2012 at G.H.RAISONI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,NAGPUR under TEQIP-II in association with Cranes software, Bangalore and GHR labs and Research Center, followed by one day workshop on Texas Instruments MSP 430 Microcontroller.

The conference was conducted with the aim to bring together the National community of researchers and practitioners to discuss the latest advancements and future directions in the areas of VLSI Design and Embedded Systems.

The program of the National Conference consisted of keynote talks which was delivered by

Dr. Anita Topkar, scientist BARC Mumbai on “VLSI Systems: Applications for the Instrumentation of Detector Systems of Mega-Science Experimental Facilities”. The second keynote was delivered by Cranes software, Bangalore.

Technical sessions were held to facilitate the persons from industry and academia to share their expertise, knowledge and experiences so as to make a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing through presentation of research findings, industrial case studies and so on.

Dr. Anita Topkar who is working at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) was the Chief Guest of this National Conference. Dr. D.V.Padole was the Convener and Prof. L.P.Thakre was the Co-Convener of this conference.

The Department of Information Technology had organized a National Conference on ‘Advanced Data Management and Multimedia Computing’ on 06th and 07th Dec 2012 at G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur under TEQIP-II in association with computer society of India, Nagpur and GHR labs Research Center, followed by two days workshop on ‘Information Technology and Project Management’. The conference aimed to provide an excellent opportunity for the dissemination of interesting new research ideas and the generation of new research ideas in the area of Advanced Data Management and Multimedia Computing. The conference also provides an opportunity to the National and regional industries and service providers to showcase their technology, product and services. Conference was inaugurated at hands of Hon. Chief Guest Dr. S. A. Kelkar, Director, Professor, IIT Bombay, Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director, G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, and Nagpur.

There was very enthusiastic participation by Industry persons, Academicians, graduate & postgraduate students from all the corners of the nation. The keynote on “Shifting Focus from Technology to IT Services” was delivered by Dr. S.A. Kelkar, IIT Bombay. Prof. M.B.Chandak (HOD, Department of CSE, and RKNEC), Dr. Vilas M. Thakre, Head of Department of Computer science, University of Amravati & Mr. Animesh Jaipurkar of Learn Flow Pvt. Ltd. chaired the session. Invited Talk on “Web Mining” was delivered by Dr. Vilas M. Thakre.Mr. Kartik Raghubhaty Director of Learn Flow Pvt. Ltd. had delivered invited talk on “Big Data & Business Intelligence.”

Several innovative papers were presented by the delegates during the three technical sessions on the themes such as Multimedia systems ,Computer Graphics, Mobile Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Cryptography & Network Security,

Virtual Reality, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Expert Systems, Sensor Networks, Database Management Systems, Distributed Databases, Embedded Systems, Intelligence Optimization. Technical sessions were held to facilitate the persons from industry and academia to share their expertise, knowledge and experiences so as to make a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing through presentation of research findings, industrial case studies and so on.

Dr. P. R. Bajaj (Director), Dr. S. B. Jaju (Dean,R&D), Prof. S. A. Chhabria (HOD-IT & Convener NCADMAMC 12) & her committee members worked hard to make this event successful.
