Chavez and Marcia Paredes Coming out is the process of revealing aspect(s) of one’s identity that deviates from the norm. In the LGBTQ community it can range from your sexuality to your gender identification (or lack thereof.) In our culture, we tend to value coming out stories whose outcomes represent the extremes. Our focus is zoomed in on acceptance and rejection. A Mother’s _____ aims to explore the in between, the untold grey area of coming out. Through the portrayal of raw emotions, these photos will not warm your hearts. Like with many coming out stories, these photos will leave you in limbo feeling unfulfilled. When one comes out, there are no winners and there are no losers. There is only truth. There is only reality.
