career events
From Teach First to a Career in Law Come along to this event, exclusively for members of the Bracton Law Society, to find out more about the 2
year Teach First Leadership Development Programme (LDP) and how this can lead to a successful career in
law.
As the largest graduate recruiter in the UK in 2015 and ranking 4th in the Times Top 100, Teach First is an
increasingly influential education charity, engaging the UK’s brightest talent to fight a serious social problem –
educational inequality. The Teach First LDP, combining teacher training and a fully-funded Postgraduate
Certificate in Education (PGCE), will help graduates become such leaders. The LDP is widely recognised by
more than 80 high profile businesses and organisations, including numerous law firms.
On Monday 15th February 2016 from 7-8pm, Teach First and The Bracton Law Society will be welcoming
2010 Ambassador Micah Smith. Micah completed the two year program in 2012 at the Harefield Academy in
London. After spending one more year in the classroom, he is now a trainee solicitor at Hogan Lovells. He will
provide a first-hand account of what teaching in a Teach First school is like and more importantly how he has
transferred the skills he developed during the program into the law profession. There will be networking after
the presentation with drinks and nibbles provided. Members of the Graduate Recruitment team from
Teach First will also be present, to answer any questions you may have about Teach First and our
graduate program.
Please sign up to our event here: http://tfbractonlawsocietyexeter.eventbrite.co.uk
It will be held in the Matrix Lecture Theatre in Building One of the Business School.

A message from Em Butson:
We had a fantastic game this week as BLS X and BLS V played each other. The final score was 19- 12 to BLS V.
Thank you to all who played. See you all at training on Friday 3-4 in the sports hall at the sports park.
The BLS touch rugby team had another successful weekend. We came up against the Wu-Tag Clan in the first game, who were looking very sharp. It was a tight game which was closely contested. However, thanks to tries from Nick
Coombs and Rob Akerele-Miles, we won the game 3-2. In our second game we faced our biggest rivals, Rogueby. Both teams struggled to break the deadlock, however they managed to go ahead 1-0. However, just before half time, captain Sian Burns scored a try, giving the BLS a 2-1 lead (due to the 2 points for a girl rule). The second half was again a close match, but neither side was able to add to their
tally. The game ended with a 2-1 win for BLS. Man of the matches goes to Nick Coombs and girl of the match goes to Val Maccario. We are now unbeaten in 4
games! Well done to everyone who played!
Unfortunately, there was no match this week.
