Early Dismissal Schedule:
Students in grades K-5th will be released at 12:40 p.m.
AM PPCD and Pre-K is from 8:20 a.m. - 10:10 a.m.
PM PPCD and Pre-K is from 10:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.
Please drop books off under the OKE Giving Tree in the Library. The last date to donate is De-

We would like to congratulate our OKE Spelling Bee Winner and alternate for a job well done in the Annual Spelling Bee on Monday! Shweta Nanaware won the bee after 17 rounds of spelling with the word censure. Shweta is in Mrs. Martin’s 5th grade class. Adhithi Venkatraghavan was named the al-
ternate after 22 rounds. Adhithi is in Mrs. Chisholm’s 5th grade class. Shweta will represent OKE at the Katy ISD
Spelling Bee on February 9. Congratulations to all 20 of our students who participated in the Spelling Bee!
OKE Math Tournament Odessa Kilpatrick Elementary is very excited about hosting our 2nd annual Ele-
mentary TMSCA Math/ Science Tournament on Saturday, February 6, 2016. The
contest is open to all 3rd – 5th grade students. We use the TMSCA format for
this competition. Email for registration information. Please feel free to forward
this invitation to any other elementary schools
that might be interested in participating in the

cember 17 or Friday, December 18. I-Station and FASTT Math
will resume on Mon-day, January 11.

Parents of 5th grade students are invited to an information session
regarding the secondary Pre-Advanced Placement (PreAP) program.
This session will be repeated three times on Monday, January 11,
2016 at 10:00AM, 1:00PM and 7:00PM at the ESC in Room 1200.
Parents may attend any of the three sessions.
Following Monday, January 11th, the presentation will be posted on
the GT and Advanced Academics webpage.

Pre-AP Information Sessions For 5th Grade Parents
We have a large assortment of jackets,
glasses, lunch boxes, mittens, water
bottles and other student items in our
Lost and Found.
Any items left unclaimed by December
15th will be donated. Please note that
Lost and Found items are housed in
the Cafeteria. Smaller items are locat-
ed in the front office.
Lost and Found Library
News The library will be closed to morning AR testing on Thursday, 12/17/15 due to the Faculty Breakfast. The library will re-open at 9:30 AM.
The library and morning AR testing will be closed all day on Friday, 12/18/15 to accommodate Polar Express/Ira Sleeps Over Day.
Parenting with Love & Logic
Parenting Classes offered this fall for anyone interested.
Six sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Child Care will be provided to those 2 years and older.
Dates for the sessions are January 12, 19, 26
and February 2, 9, 16
OKE Open Learning Area
This course follows the video series parent training program titled “Becoming a Love & Logic Parent” developed by Jim Fay.
The sessions will be facilitated by Cheri Hayes and Krista Saldivia, teachers at Kilpatrick. The sessions have been designed to:
Teaching responsibility without losing their love
Setting limits
Avoiding power struggles
Guiding kids to solve their own problems
Teaching kids to complete chores
A fee of $10 for the Becoming a Love and Logic Parent workbook will be charged. Please return the form below with either cash or a check made out to Katy ISD in the amount of $10.00 with a phone number and a driver’s license number to reserve a space.
Reservations can be made no later than FRIDAY January 8, 2016.
