Carlton Gardens Primary School 10 February 2017 A Message from the Principal Dear Community, We are almost there! Our new building will be completed Friday with handover happening at 1.00pm! The equipment that was put in storage has been delivered and teachers will be setting up there new learning spaces on Friday ready for the children to move in on Monday. I would personally like to thank everyone in our school community for their patience during the construction phase. It is an indication of how strongly focused we are as a community that we are all able to band together in the long term interest of our children. There is more to come. We indicated that there would be extensive landscaping works taking place at the conclusion of the portable construction. These works will commence almost immediately with, hopefully, minimal disruption. We also have some plumbing works commencing Friday evening. These works will be completed outside school hours. Again I would like to thank everyone for their support and patience. CGPS News 1 Instagram We are now on instagram. You can follow us @carltongardens Twitter We are on twitter. Seesaw

This year students will be using the app Seesaw to share their learning with parents. In the next few weeks you will receive an invitation to join your child’s class. The app is available on both Google Play and iTunes stores. Parents may also login via an Internet browser. We encourage parents to comment on their student’s work and see all the exciting events happening in their classroom.

Attendance

A reminder to all families about the importance of attending school regularly, and on time. The department’s website emphasises this by stating: There is no safe number of days for missing school. Every Day Counts. Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future – a student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year. Each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes. It is really important that you communicate with the school in regards to any potential upcoming absences that you may be aware of, so we can support your child with an absence learning plan. Likewise, please endeavour to arrive at school before 8.50. This is the time the first bell rings and it is important that students arrive at school feeling relaxed and comfortable to begin their school day. This also helps with the traffic flow – avoiding unnecessary challenges at a busy time of the day for everyone. If you do arrive at school late – you MUST sign your child in at the office before taking them to class. It is vital that this process is followed. Please also ensure you are accessing Compass to enter and approve any student absences. Thank you for your co-operation.
