VOLUME 2, ISSUE 6 JUNE, 2009
Yottaquest is 5 years old!!!
Wow! It is hard to
believe that five years have
gone by. Thank you. Yotta-
quest would not be here with-
out all the wonderful people
who have helped along the way. The last year has seen many
changes. As we look to the future we will strive to make this
a wonderful place. I am amazed by how much this place has
changed my life and my family.
In celebration of our 5 year anniversary two great
events are planned. The first is Thursday, June 11, 2009. This
is the actual date that we have been opened as a “brick and
mortar” store for five years. We will maintain with Yotta-
quest tradition and provide free cake, hamburgers and hotdogs
that evening. Dinner and cake will be served from around 4
p.m. until it’s gone. The grassy area behind the store by the
big parking lot will be set up for cornhole. This is also our
Pokemon night and our Greater Cincinnati Roleplayer Meetup
night.
Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will
be our Yottaquest Anniversary Sale. Come check it out! We
will be having Buy One Get One Free on select items and
great discounts on many others. This sale does not apply to
held items or items ordered. First come first serve basis for all
sales.
June also has some very special
events planned. On Saturday,
June 6th, we are proud to pre-
sent Star Wars Miniature Re-
gional Event. Yottaquest is one
of only a few select stores
across the country that was picked for this event. Players are
coming from several states to play in this special event.
June 20th is our third annual Free RPG Day. This
event is free and we are really excited about hosting it. It is
based on Free Comic Book Day, however we are also having
21 slots available for players to try out new games. Games
such as Call of Cthulhu, Mouse Guard, Hollow Earth Expedi-
tion, Dogs in the Vineyard, Gaterunner, All Flesh Must Be
Eaten, D&D 4th Edition, Twilight 2013, One World By Night
LARP, 4th Edition D&D Naval Combat System, and more. If
you have a game you want to run or want to try out a new
game, this is the time to do it. Advance sign up is recom-
mended.
A Steve Jackson Games representative will be at Yot-
taquest to demo
new games on
Monday, June 29th
from 6 to 9
p.m. This is just
another way that we
are trying hard to
serve the Greater
Cincinnati gaming
community.
Thank you
again. No matter
what we did, we
would not be here
today if it was not
for all of you!

Upper Deck Entertainment has revealed details about its World of Warcraft
TCG boosters-only release, Fields of Honor, which is due out on June 30th. The booster-set expansion includes a new Honor theme, Honor-based
locations, the first appearance of Death Knight
weapons and armor in a booster release, plus 3 exciting new Loot cards, which will make WoW
online characters stand out in any crowd, and the introduction of “Warsong Gulch” Rules.
The three Loot cards are Path of Cenarius, the
Ogre Pinata and El Pollo Grande (a giant Magic Rooster?).
Fields of Honor also introduces an alternate rules
set, the “Warsong Gulch” rules, which will be included on some UDE Points cards, and which
will allow players to use their WoW TCG cards in
a whole new way.
Wizards of the Coast will launch Planechase, a
new multiplayer casual game format for Magic: The Gathering, on September 4th. Four Plane-
chase Game Packs will be released on that
date: Elemental Thunder, Metallic Dreams, Strike Force, and Zombie Empire.
Each Planechase Game Pack will include ten
plane cards, a new card type that allows two or more players to battle each other across a
variety of diverse worlds; a ready-to-play
60-card deck, a six-sided planar die and a
Planechase strategy insert with multiplayer
rules. The ten oversized plane cards, with
all new art depicting some of the more exotic realms in the Magic multiverse,
make up a planar deck.

Green Ronin’s Dragon
Age RPG, based on the
Dragon Age: Origins
video game from Bio-
Ware, will hit stores in
September.
Described as a return to fantasy role-playing’s “dark and
gritty roots,” the Dragon Age RPG has been in development
for about a year and will feature three classes – rogue, mage,
and warrior – and a level system, matching the video game’s
character development options. Skill resolution uses three six
-sided dice and a modifier based on the character’s ability,
and a spell-point system replaces the Vancian magic of the
video game.
The first release of the Dragon Age RPG will be a boxed set
that contains two rulebooks (a Player’s Guide and GM’s
Guide), a poster map of Ferelden, and three six-sided dice.
The base set covers character development from levels one to
five, with later sets expanding character development in
bunches of five levels (6-10, 11-15, and 16-20).

Matthew M. Fay
I am Matthew M. Fay the
owner of Yottaquest. I am also known
as Matt Sr., Mr. Yott, Dad, and The
Owner. With this being our five year
anniversary, I thought I would share a
little about me. My family is from a
long line of Cincinnatians, so this is
home. I never thought I would be a
game store owner, it just sort of hap-
pened. It started when I got laid off
from a good job at Cincinnati Incorpo-
rated in Harrison, Ohio. I was an elec-
trician in the laser assembly depart-
ment. This was my first time being laid
off in my life. To be honest I enjoyed it
at first. About six months into my
“temporary “ layoff 9/11 happened. The
job market went from bad to terrible. I
went from a $25/hour job to working as
a short order cook at Bob Evans. I up-
graded months later to Comp USA as a
computer repair technician. Somewhere
along the way I got the idea I wanted to
run my own company. I left Comp USA
and started Yottaquest, a home based
business that specialized in Computer
repair and sold D&D stuff on the side to
my friends. Becoming fascinated with
the gaming industry, I decided to stop
the computer repair and focus all my
attention on selling games. After look-
ing around at many sites, I eventually
settled on our present location. It
needed a lot of work, and after a couple
of months we were ready to open the
doors. I took the paper off the windows
and shouted, “Okay world, we are
here!” Well, I might have well been a
Who in Whoville. We had one sale that
day, and I realized I had no idea how to
run a business. I had to learn
fast! Well, time has gone by and I walk
in my store everyday and am amazed
that we have come so far. My kids,
family, and many friends have all helped
tremendously over the years. If you
asked me, “If you had to do it all over
again would you?” the answer would be
a resounding “YES!” Thank you all for
a wonderful five years.

After scoring a success with their family card game, Infer-
nal Contraptions, Privateer Press is following up
with Scrappers, a family board game designed for 2-4
players ages 9 and up that will be released worldwide in
September of 2009.
In Scrappers it’s frenzy on the factory floor as players
take on the role of goblin mechanics as they race around a
factory trying to pull parts off a constantly moving con-
veyor belt in order to complete their contraptions.
Fantasy Flight Games will release a
board game based on Games Work-
shop’s Warhammer Fantasy universe
this fall. Warhammer: Chaos in the Old
World has been designed by Eric M.
Lang, who designed the Call of Cthulhu
and A Game of Thrones card games.
The game will feature a tie-in to the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckon-
ing MMO in the form of two cards in the first print run only. The Signet of
the Cursed Company allows its owner to become a skeletal warrior in the
MMO. The Call to War will teleport the player to his capital city.
Fantasy Flight Games has announced the upcoming release of Middle-earth
Quest, a new deluxe board game set in the universe of The Lord of the
Rings. The game is the fifth title based on the Lord of the Rings to be pub-
lished by Fantasy Flight, and the first since 2004’s War of the Ring.
The game takes place in the intervening years between Bilbo’s Farewell
Party and Frodo’s departure from the Shire. One player assumes the role of
the Dark Lord Sauron himself and tries to hamper
the other players while advancing his own agenda
to seize control of Middle-earth. The other players
(up to three) take on the roles of new heroes, cre-
ated specifically for the game, who interact with
and learn from established characters from The
Lord of the Rings, like Gandalf, Aragorn, and
Boromir. The hero players work together to defend
the lands of Middle-earth and prepare for Sauron’s
assault, while the Sauron player has three different
paths to victory: conquest, corruption, or the dis-
covery of the One Ring.
